kofi Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 (edited) Hey! Today I want to present my newest creation. It is the k.u.k. Burgtheater in Vienna. I used about 18.000 bricks and it took me about 150 hours to build this model. This year it is the 150th anniversary of the Vienna Ringstraße. In our LUG many of us decided to build one of the famous buildings from the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy situated besides the RIngstraße. I chose the Burgtheater as you can see on the pictures below. Hope you enjoy! kinggregus Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 This build is stunning!!!! I had never seen the ice cream cone used for architectural details and this works perfectly. It must have been challenging to make that curve in the building... Amazing! Quote
Exetrius Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 (edited) Incredible build! So much detail! Edited July 16, 2015 by Exetrius Quote
Palixa And The Bricks Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Speechless! This build is amazing. Very detailed and a lot of sand green ;) I wonder how the curved front and the roof for that part are done. Quote
kofi Posted July 17, 2015 Author Posted July 17, 2015 (edited) Thank you so much for your excellent feedback! I am happy you like my model! I wonder how the curved front and the roof for that part are done. It must have been challenging to make that curve in the building... Amazing! Yes, it was quite challenging to get that curved front done. But finally i didn't really used that special techniques! All the curves in this building are done with hinges: Edited July 17, 2015 by kofi Quote
filmorakel Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 What can I say?!?!? This Sir, is absolutely briliant!!! Quote
Huntmaster Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 This is so good, the sand green really helps make it stand out! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Very well done, I mean, very very well done. I looked at the larger pics on flickr to see more details. The only thing: Why didn't you post this in the Town forum? Quote
kofi Posted July 18, 2015 Author Posted July 18, 2015 The only thing: Why didn't you post this in the Town forum? Well, I decided to post it here because I thought the model belongs to Architecture... and in town forum there I couldn't find models like this one, so.... But now you gave me the hint, what about posting the model twice ;) Quote
L@go Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 But now you gave me the hint, what about posting the model twice ;) ...which is generally frowned upon on this site. So if you do, the Town topic is most likely to be locked. This is indeed the right subforum for it, as it's an Architecture-style model. And what a lovely model it is! Very well built, with some very intricate ornamental work - and huge! Very well done. I'm impressed :) Quote
