Lemme see if I can lay the logic out....

1. Jarl asked for a traitor to contact them, but there was only 4 hours left in the day.

2. Mist ALSO asked for a traitor to contact them

3. Therefore, Jarl's request was unsuccessful.

4. Remember, I posted this BEFORE pudding's post about talking to them, so I was assuming no one used Jarl's privatae message link

5. (assumption here) If there's a traitor, they'd have used Jarl's link

6. Anyone who posted after Jarl's request was obviously around to read the request

7. Therefore, anyone who posted after Jarl's request is not the traitor

Now, it's not airtight. We don't even know if there IS any sort of traitor or recruit or whatever. But IF there is, my money would be on them being in the second list of names.

I'm going to keep going through your arguments to see if I'm missing something, but I really don't see how this makes for a solid argument. I don't understand what's stopping the supposed traitor from posting in the day thread after Jarl's confession. If there is a traitor, I don't think we should be using warped logic like this to try and rule people out.

As both Pudding Head and Lodmund mentioned, I also messaged Jarl and claimed to be the traitor. Like the other two, he gave me access to a Writeboard, which I'll paraphrase here.

Me: Everything I have to say, I've already said to Jarl. If you have questions, go ahead and ask them.

Jarl: I've given all of them access to this Writeboard, so everything should be in order.

Scum One: We hear you're trying to pull a sting on us. We're not idiots, you stupid, stupid person!

princess consuela...: The extremely female Scum One has issues, I apologize. You're pretty cleaver (her exact words, I'm not sure why they think I'm a butcher's knife) so why should we trust you? Why aren't you giving us more information? Are you able to win without us? I think you can't win without us, so why aren't you telling us more?

the BOSS: If you really are the traitor, we'll convert you, but you make it seem like you don't want to be converted!

Adam: Who says the scum are the only recruiters? Think about the size of this game. You've lost two of your number in as many days. As strange as it sounds, maybe I stand a better chance with someone else? Someone... like a third party?

Scum 3: It's not over 'til it's over. I don't believe what you're saying at all. I think you're just trying to squeeze information out of us.

That was it. To explain their comments about me not giving them enough information, I had been playing hard to get when talking with Jarl. I figured that the scum would be more suspicious of my claim if I looked too eager.

Lodmund, why did you think it was important to keep this information private? What would have changed if you had presented this tomorrow, rather than today? Why did you hope to achieve by unvoting Mist without explaining yourself? You can't have thought that you would stop her lynch without giving us a good reason to follow your lead and unvote her.

This almost sounds like you're advocating for an unvote of Mist...

My "I agree" was referring to Canute's request for an explanation.

You've got it backwards, that's why you're confused. My logic is that IF there's a traitor who needs to get in touch with the scum, then they're not any of the people who posted after Jarl's request. Those people saw his request and had opportunity to contact the scum. If one of them was the traitor, then it's less likely that Mist would have confessed and asked again for contact since the scum would know the traitor.

However, with all that's gone on since then, I'm really really doubting that there is a recruitable person in the game. This is all feeling too wrong to me - the scum seem too clueless about how to handle the traitor, so I don't think they know anything and are lying about the whole thing. They may think there might be a traitor, but I don't think they know any more than we do about such a topic.

Yes, it was , and that's why I re-voted him. I was actually more interested in finding out weather he was really scum than in why the scum would still be looking for a traitor.

1. It's whether

2. Why would you believe anything someone who confessed to being Scum had to say? At that point, he's a policy lynch. He (was blocked and there was a kill missing and he) freaking confessed.

Wait wait wait. You expect me to believe that you, Agnar and Pudding all independently fake-claimed traitor to the scum and talked to them on writeboards??? Sounds too strange to be true...

Not independently, it was Agnar's idea. But, I don't think three people independently coming up with that idea would be far-fetched anyway. I'm not sure why you think it's so strange. yourself.

From what you have told us of the conversation, it sounds like the scum cottoned on to your fake-claim. Maybe they have realised that all the traitor claims so far are fake and they are still trying to find the traitor... however, I think by now the traitor, if there is one, would probably be in contact with the scum at this point.

I don't know why this wasn't Lardmund's first thought too. Why does he think they've given up on him instead of figuring him out.

I get that you are apparently reporting a conversation with the scum, so everything should be taken with a pinch of salt, but I looked back and couldn't see where Pudding had mentioned your name in the thread between Mist asking for traitor candidates and this point in the conversation where you apparently doubted her to be scum and unvoted her. Do you have any idea what they mean?

I wondered the same thing. And when I did bring him up it was to accuse him of either being the traitor himself (which I still find it hard to believe there would be one) or outright Scum. It doesn't make sense to me that anything I said would make the Scum think I was working with him.

I think Lodmund is Scum and when Agnar presented him with an opportunity to "pretend to be a traitor" he took it so that he would seem like a Townie trying to infiltrate the Scum. Agnar, how did Lodmund get involved in this scheme to contact Jarl? Who contacted who first? Why did you trust him to tell him what the plan was?

You've got it backwards, that's why you're confused. My logic is that IF there's a traitor who needs to get in touch with the scum, then they're not any of the people who posted after Jarl's request. Or WIFOM, that's what they would want us to think.

You're giving this scum team too much credit, methinks  They've lost 2, now 3 with Mist, already, and don't seem terribly organized from the stories being told about talking to them. So I'm not sure I'd be doing too much WIFOM in this game....

They do have yet to prove being even the slightest bit clever, but it's not safe to underestimate all of them. They might do something...smart...soon. Or there are two factions and most of the other faction is brilliant. :sceptic: This is an eery feeling of deja vu.

What the ...

I leave for a few hours and i come back to a bunch of crazy paraphrased conversation, one unvote of a 'confirmed' scum and a pile of 'yes indeed' posts ...

Scum are dumb and screwed from the looks of it.

I am crazy suspicious of Lodmund's unvote. It's a crazy, crazy thing to do; unjustifiable in my opinion.

You know, I've just been in contact with Mist, and I'm starting to doubt that she's scum. A suspicious thing to say? Yes. But that doesn't change the facts.

Unvote: Mist (Mencot).

Wh- *huh*

Sorry, but for now my reasons are private.

What?

I was confused and without stopping to think I decided to go with my doubts about Mist and retract my vote. But now I'm less certain about this, the way Mist has been acting seems perfectly in line with the weird and contradictory way the scum have been behaving, I'm just going to let it stew for now.

Now as for traitors, I have already said that I don't think there is a traitor in the game, and either the scum are confused or they're just taking advantage of a stupid conversation to troll us.

On second thoughts, I'm not going to sit on this, you're right, I'm being a idiot.

Vote: Mist (Mencot)

Wait, what? :oh::wacko:*huh*

I just don’t understand what your thought process was here. This is insane. Why would you unvote someone who had already confessed that they were scum? Am I going crazy? Why? Why would you do something like this? I didn’t really have a read on you before, but this whole incident makes you look pretty scummy.

And as for the traitor debate, there either is one, which is why the scum are acting so desperate to find them, or there isn’t actually a traitor and this entire thing is just being used to stir up paranoia among the town. I’m leaning more towards the latter at the moment, since it seems strange that the scum have given the traitor multiple opportunities to contact them and yet no one who’s actually the traitor has, as far as we, the town, know.

@TPRU: so voting for myself doesn't count? I'd really rather not get penalty votes...

I'm a little confused here, why would you vote for yourself when Mist has basically confessed she is scum.

He swapped his vote when Pudding said he had something to reveal and can't be bothered swapping it back. It doesn't make a difference to the lynch result either way, it just makes him look dodgy.

But why do you care if someone else looks dodgy? Is he? Are you? Is Mist not? Is this the last gasp of a hapless game?

With 16 votes, Mist (Mencot) will be lynched.

Another day came to a close and the crew of survivors had again decided to execute one of their own. Mist (Mencot) stepped forward to face her fate.

"Do you have anything to say in your defense?" someone asked.

"Yes," Mist replied, "I'm scum."

"Oh, well that was easy," someone said.

"Why did you do it, Mist?" another warrior asked, "You were once a brave valkyrie, and a vigilant defender of Valhalla. What has Ragnarok done to you?"

"I can't remember," said Mist, "My memory is foggy. Or Mist-y. Or something."

IMG_2161_zpsrmlii5xb.jpg

With that, Mist put herself on the chopping block, ready for the axe that awaited her.

IMG_2164_zps2jk5ivm2.jpg

Kára's axe swung straight and true, cutting Mist's head clean off.

IMG_2166_zps86ajgvoq.jpg

"Such is the fate of all who would try to hinder this quest," Kára said, "Now keep rowing."
