Rules change

  1. 1. Should the control on a planet be calculated after every builds are scored?

  2. 2. Should a corporation lose control of a planet if it reaches 0 domination points on that planet?

  3. 3. Should build be only allowed on planets controlled by a corporation and adjacent planets only if it can chain back to the home planet through controlled planets?

Unless you cannot build alien builds on planets that have 0 domination points at the start of some week.

Say Octan wants to go for planet B during week W. At the start of week W, planet B has no domination points on it. Thus, throughout the entire (W) week, no corporation may post alien builds on that planet. The week after week W, when Octan already has 38 points on the planet, can other corporations build alien builds on planet B.

In fact, I think this new alien rule would be nice so that corporations cannot prevent a planet from being dominated because they feel like posting a bunch of alien builds the same week as a corporation is going for a certain planet. Aliens should counteract after their planet has been invaded.

In sum, new additions to the Alien builds:

1. Alien builds cannot be posted on a planet that does not have any domination points on it on the beginning of the week (Monday).

2. Alien builds cannot decrease a planet's domination points by more than the amount of domination points that planet began with.

(example: planet B has 5 domination points on it at the beginning of the week. A corporation cannot remove more than 5 domination points from that planet that week even if other corporations build normal builds on that planet.)

That is what I think will be disastrous for Alien builds. It will be more turn base strategy for alien builds meaning that an alien build will always need to be built on the week after the previous weeks builds are done. Once the planet has been tallied up and scores has been given and resources has been awarded were done here. That doesn't fit well in this game because alien builds can be built anywhere and if your implying that you cant build an alien build the same week then you really cant build anywhere and put a stop where there is a Corporation trying to extended their planets resource control and that is pretty much it.

I am very irritated that people keep saying that there is something wrong with last minute entries. Sometimes it takes an ENTIRE WEEK to make a good MOC, and it should not be frowned upon if builders work their @$$ of at the last minute to finish a build before the deadline.

Here is my theory about it. If it takes you the entire week the make a build and get a score of 5 why shouldn't an early build that also received a score of 5 take precedence over your build if built on the same planet. This give another layer to consider as to who is the better builder and team.

In sports players can get injuries and that can greatly effect the team. But if the team can still pull a win with injuries that means their that more better then the other team.

Once builds are tallied up together at the same time there no distinguish between which team was fast and who is slow and it will reduce the game to I got more builders then you looks like I win.

Shame there's no benefit for longest road in this game...:tongue:

maybe there's a reward for longest genitalia?

So, If the rules changes do take place, would that take effect this week, or next week, or when, do you think? It's not really for strategic purposes that I'm asking, just curiosity.

Also, I changed my answer to Question A. I think some of the arguments made have been valid, and I think that regardless of the way the rules work, the team with the best builders and most dedication will win the planet. Quick builds just won't get enough credits to dominate a planet fast enough before good builds later in the week beat them down... and if a Corporation plans well enough to have enough good builds for a planet up their sleeve and post them all the day after judgment, then, you know what? That actually deserves a bonus. So, I'm neutral now.

Hahaha ohhhhhhh, you guys.

I'm sure the rules will not change until a week after notice of rule change has been made.

As far as when a build is posted is irrelevant to me because as I cannot count on building time each week, all my builds are finished well in advance. Every build I have posted so far and will post for the next three weeks was completed before the week it was posted. In fact the last two weeks, I was away from my bricks, so if I hadn't already had a MOC stash, I would have missed two weeks.

Ah, that makes sense.

Yeah, I've started working up a stash, myself, but I have not yet used any from the stash. I've been working on the Derelict from the get-go, but I have one build squirreled away for a rainy week, and will soon have more. I usually only get a free second to build on the weekends, which is why I always post so late!

I couldn't tell from your builds! You're obviously better at planning ahead than I!

Actually I hadn't planned the builds for this. I cannot build what I want to for GoH anymore due to a four year old son that adds as much space stuff to my castle builds as I do castle stuff, I had pretty much quit trying to build anything to post. (I also really don't like taking pictures of the stuff after I build it because I really do not have a proper setup) So I was building this stuff for my son (and myself) with a story background called of a company called Microtronics that was the mother company of what eventually became M-Tron. But when this came along, I couldn't help but think that my builds would fit right in the Kawashita Corporation so I joined up.

Aww! That's adorable! :cry_happy:

Great vehicle, by the way! :sweet:

Re: when changes comes into effect.

You guys need to read the first post

I'm thinking that in the future when posting important post about rules, I'll just throw some random words, as noone read them anyway :sweet:

Regarding the changes, we'll wait next week to apply tthem, since it could interfere with how this week was played.

Au contraire, I was under the impression that all scores were "applied" simultaneously already, so this is like a change in the opposite direction!

I'll admit I initially voted the opposite of how I intended on question 1 because of the wording. In the future can we do more like they do on US ballots and have a summary of current status; then have "a yes vote means" and "a no vote means" so we are more clear. On things where we were considering changing from current we could also do stuff like "Keep the same" and "Change to ..." type wording. I know not everyone is a native english speaker, so that might help people be less confused.

Both choices for question 1 will shift this dynamic of this game and both the choice can equally be resented by easy or hard factor. Now I'm not going to make no suggestion as to which is which but when you have a competition there are several ways you can go about it and both option in question 1 are perfectly acceptable but where there acceptable is Key. Saying YES to question 1 would make this game into a kind of High scoring event where every point counts and only the best will be able to advance but saying NO to question 1 would make the game more friendly to both advance and low skilled builders along with allowing more cooperative team work play.

So here is my question. How do you want the game to be Easy or Hard and based upon the results It looks like this game is going to get easy for those with a good assortment of bricks.

I have deleted my choices. People are trying to use this poll to further their own agendas within the game, and I will have none of that. This is an opinion poll, and I believe that the votes should be hidden from the other members. Until then, my opinions will stay my own, save one: This is a building game to help drive us to build fun MOCs to share with our community, not some cutthroat competition with actual benefits to being the best.

I agree to some extent that this poll could be used to further an agenda but Bob still has final say. The great thing about this game and as Bob has demonstrated is that there are no tried and true tactics. Your corporation may have the upper hand and then Bob puts a balancing mechanism in place. It is actually quite fun because you don't know what could happen next. I hope Bob has some more randomness planned.... Also look at the competition happening on Guinevere between Kawashita and Mantis. At the end of the day (or week) it really doesn't matter who wins out there because there really is nothing to miss out on there and every build we build there will reward us in its own way. So even if Mantis does beat us out there this week (or not ), it was a fun conflict.

I'm still torn between the two options for number one, and it looks like the polls suggest a similar struggle.

Perhaps this will be a trial-and-error type of thing where we test out one method one week, and then another method another week and see which works best?
