raven1280 Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Here is my current work in progress. It is inspired by SavaTheAggie's model with some changes. I was able to design the front wheels so that they are attached and was successfully able to get them to track through switches. Through the uses of two turntables the wheels are able to move freely as needed. Still need to get some red tiles to replace the gray. I plan to hide the IR receiver in the tender and place the battery box in a mailcar behind the tender. Quote
Legocity2713 Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Oh what a great classic vibe. Great work my friend. Quote
zephyr1934 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Looking good and that is a clever yet simple solution for the pilot truck. I bet it will quite fast with the large train wheels on the pf train motor. Quote

cgarison Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Looking good and that is a clever yet simple solution for the pilot truck. I bet it will quite fast with the large train wheels on the pf train motor. Large wheels on a PF train motor is fast indeed, but the torque disadvantage means you get a very short run time when trying to pull heavy train cars due to the overload circuit popping after 5-15 minutes of runtime. But building heavy trains is an issue that I developed by following the style of PennLUG train builders and not those of Lego set designers. Quote
