Legocity2713 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I'm not sure about sets. Since it is a Star Wars movie it is very possible, but it doesn't seem as big or hyped up The Force Awakens is and was. Quote
Lego Fett Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Im sure there will be a minimum of 10 RO sets Quote
Jay_Em Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 They made sets for The Old Republic video game. I'm certain we'll get some for Rogue One. Quote

Im sure there will be a minimum of 10 RO sets Probably. They made sets for The Old Republic video game. I'm certain we'll get some for Rogue One. Yes, exactly. Overall, they will probably make some sets, but is just Star Wars 3.5. Quote

Once TFA has been released, they'll start hyping up Rogue One, for sure, and what's even more certain is that there will be sets for this film. There is absolutely no way for there to end up being a lack of sets for this movie, especially since Episode VIII will come out in 2017 and they'll have most TFA stuff covered after the first wave of TFA sets. So they're gonna need something new. Count on sets for every single official & canonical Star Wars TV series or movie. Edited May 25, 2015 by General Magma Quote

NNOPMOC Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 About 10 seconds after the credits are done rolling on opening day for TFA, The House of Mouse will direct its marketing machine towards Rogue One full force... More likely they have been working on it since before the official take-over/purchase, and we will see the results of the marketing team. If they leave it until after TFA to start they aren't a very good team. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see more images coming out alongside any TFA promor material as it tells you there is more to the live action SW universe than just the movies. Quote
Markalus Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I think the real question is not will TLG release Rogue One sets but will there be space left on shelves for OT and PT sets in the foreseeable future once Ep7, Rogue One and all future Disney owned IP is released? I certainly hope so but given a lot of the vehicles will probably be similar or variants of OT ships then I imagine a lot of the sets will look like re-releases but with new minifigs. I'm still hopeful we will get UCS-style treatment on some of OT play sets though..ie. Cloud City and the rumored Echo Base. Quote
Backgild Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) Here is an interesting read that sheds some light on the marketing of rogue one. Apparently, because of the similarity in titles between rogue one and the new mission impossible movie, and the order in which they were registered with the mpaa, disney has agreed to refrain from marketing rogue one until mission impossible is released. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/mission-impossible-5-gets-a-783531 Edited May 26, 2015 by Backgild Quote

I hope Lego tackles some holes in the OT/PT (more the OT) amidst all the hoopla over the new films & shows... minifigure-wise, I'd still like 'em to basically cover the rest of the vintage Kenner line (need a couple Klaatu, a Nikto--more, to cover those Hasbro has made over the years--a couple Ewoks tho they aren't quite as pressing, Ugnaughts, a few others) including updates, like Lando, Tarkin, RFTs, Bespin Luke... some Cloud City (Cloud Car, with pilots!), etc. But who knows? LegoPercyJ Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 Just learned: Disney cannot release RO because of its similarities to 007. Both a heist film. Quote
MartinCliffe Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I for one am really looking forward to this one. Possibly even more than TFO (am I even allowed to say that)? The PT became too Force-centric compared to the OT. A Star Wars movie without (for the most part) Jedi and Sith? Yes please! And hopefully lots of cool LEGO sets to go alongside it (including updated OT era vehicles)! Quote

ShrikeArghast Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Am I the only one who was like /snore? I mean, yes, it's nice to have another Star Wars feature, but I really feel like this is the untold story that should probably have stayed untold. Quote

I was hoping a trailer or two would change my mind, but so far it hasn't at all. It just seems like there are so many other, much more interesting, stories that they could have told instead.Where's my Siege of Mandalore anthology? Or if they really wanted to go OT, why not the story of the Mon Calamari/Ackbar joining the rebellion? That could be pretty cool, considering it was a pretty important moment for the movement. faire Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 NerdyOne, your view seems to be unerringly nerdy :) For most people that never read the books the acquisition o DS plan is far more crucal topic - one they can relate to. Anything Madalore would be cool though. Quote
The Sarge Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 For that matter, anything we knew about the aquisition of the plans is no longer canon. They need to lay the groundwork again and an anthology movie is a decent way to do it. If they do Mandalore anything I bet it will be a novel or comic book. Quote
