LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!

let me the be the first to introduce the world's first 3D LEGO review!!!

So get your 3D glasses out and start watching the rest...

Are you done yet??? good! here we go then!

LEGO Creator ferris wheel

Since it's the first set i made after my dark-ages i can only compare it with 'much' older sets.

It came to me actually. We went on a holiday with my girlfriend's parents, and they decided

to give both of us presents. Thus my girlfriend being a woman she got lots of clothes,

but they could not make up their mind what to give me, andthat present is exactly what you're looking at!

001.jpg

well, to the review part.

Unboxing, sorting, and new happy surprises!

Well the big box was a adventure to take home on it's own. It's pretty large for the contents inside.

A mere 2 sealings were needed to be cut before you can open the serial-type box.

once opened we did what we always used to do when we got a LEGO set.

Put the box upside down and see what rolls out.

There were more bags then i've expected, but that's a pleasant surprise too.

Immediately you find the Motor and Battery box from the new power funtions,

I took these away from the rest, look for the small review at the end!

The bags were sorted as they were, but in other more convenient bags!

Also the 2 base plates and the manuals for all three (that's really neat from our TLC folks!) models,

rolled out of the box as if they were made to slide.

Construction of the first part

I'm not very happy with the idea that tiles are placed on a base plate, they're hell ot take off again.

but when you finish the base plate it all falls into place.

The build in itself is very much like: 6 parts of this element, 8 parts for another element.

So when done you've seen enough elements and you will be done building.

The nest moment is the time you put the wheel on it's base.

003.jpg

the base consist of lots of small details like plants and trees, the entrance,

the path to the wheel itself, and the 6 connection points for the pillars.

those pillars are all 6 the same, until you get to the top where the axle comes on.

Another details is the immense amount of technic parts that are needed for the base.

Another handy use for those technic thingies!!

The wheel

The wheel is another cool element that makes up the total image.

The motor is attached to the back of the base, where a small technic series of cogs and a belt

makes the wheel spin, note that the belt slips a bit before making the wheel spin.

The wheel itself consists of a H shape and two connectors for the next H shape.

The 8 H's and 16 connectors make up the complete wheel.

Another downside is the way the wheel is connected to it's axle,

this technique is most unstable when put together, on the other hand it just 'works'.

005.jpg

Gondolas

These are also very straightforward, so no real surprises here,

The bad thing is the gondolas are to light, which make them move kind of weird.

Electronics

The new motor and battery pack are a nice surprise in a set like this.

It doesn't need the remote since it's not really a dynamic model.

They are pretty good incorporated with the model(s).

004.jpg

Other models

The other models tend to are really cool when you see them,

however the crane is a bit of a disappointment, it just moves the wire forth and back..

The suspension birdge however is really cool!!!

Scoring

Playability: 3/5

Design: 5/5

Construction: 3/5

Overall 4/5

Your comments below here please, and tell me if i should do another 3D review or not!

this is a cool set, but i tink Lego should have made this set Mini-fig scaled, since i feel that the Ferris Wheel is too big for micro-scale. All work and no fun for our poor minifigs. :-|

Maybe you should put 2 pics, one 3D and the other a normal one. coz, obviously, some ppl dun have any 3D glasses. heh.. but i like your effort and style! *y*

Excellent review, along the style and quality that we have come to expect here at EB. Thank you for contributing to the finest Lego set review database.

Basically, this set is spare parts for me. It does not display particularly well, it is not a spectacular or challenging build. But, it does not seem that there are not any useless parts.

It is priced out of my current price range (95$ Canadian) for spare parts. I think Lego could have done a better job, and usually the Creator sets are more realistically priced than this.

Thanks again taking the time and effort to make a review.

Well i think the main focus of this set was to take the crossing between SYSTEM and TECHNIC.

It gives me a feeling like this should be built bij 'kids' who are basically to old for system but too young voor advanced technic.

with this in mind it makes an excellent set.

And what you mentioned before, it's even a good set for the parts (lots of parts are 8, 16 or even 32x!)

I'm now desperatly waiting for the bulldozer to come out here!

the money is waiting to be spent! >:-) *alien*

Thanks, fellow citizen, for this great review (If only I had snagged some of those 3D glasses at the Legoland Windsor movie theater last month... :-( )

I like how Lego made use of that white "crowsnest part" to attach the wheel to the axle. Good parts pack this one, but I will wait for the Bulldozer to come out to acquire some of those new motors.

*First post*

I actually bought this set and I tweaked it a little bit so minifigs could use it. I took out the 2-stud yellow pieces on the sides of the carts and replaced it with yellow seats. The only set back is you need to have an equal distribution of minifigs or the wheel won't spin right. *y* Other than that, it works well!

I have this set, and I am very happy with it. Great reveiw, by the way. I agree it should have minifigure scale, but that would have cost WAY more than $69.99! X-D

Thanks for the review! This set is not on my ful price buy list as I want the Monster Dino and the Bulldozer, but it does have some interesting parts in it. As for the 3D part, aside from the laugh value, I can't see any real advantage in it. How did you do it anyway?

The motor is attached to the back of the base, where a small technic series of cogs and a belt

makes the wheel spin, note that the belt slips a bit before making the wheel spin.

I'm not surprised. I am making a Ferris Wheel and I direct geared it. I don't reccomend it; it grinds the gears too much! :'-(

if you look at these pics too hard without 3D glasses you'll get a headache. Oh the humanity!

Normal pics will follow, actually excactly the same as the above ones.

for people who want to try this on their own,

look for a japanese site on google, search with the words 'Anaglyph 3D maker'

it's a fairly small program for the soul purpose of making 3D images out of 2 separate images.

But Photoshop can do this as well!!!

My 3d-glasses don't work correctly, or is it my eyes. :'-(

Anyways i like this set even though it is just for display. For parts it's useless but it makes an impressive sight on top of a shelkf. Unfortunately you need quit a large shelf for it to fit. My sticks out a little even though i turned it so that the wheel is pressed against the wall. I never intended to let it spin anyways. It's also a challenge to carry but i found the gripping the supports worked out just fine. The spokes don't sit that hard on the wheel axle so it is possilbe tobreak them loose if you're not careful. While it does have an PF-motor i only bought if for display. If you want PF-parts for a nice price go for the dino.

The set is really cheap if you consider the amount of pieces it has but since you'll be hard pressed for any other use for them don't get this set unless you have to much money and don't know how to spend it, or just want a really nice display set. I wonder if you could rebuild the bulldozer into a ferris wheel. |-/ :-P
