Doc_Brown Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) Hello Everyone! Been a while since I posted a 'complete' MOC (Tries to keep a straight face) I present to you McLeach's Truck! This has been a long time in the making and a very very frustrating build. Originally this was going to be my entry into the TC6, but just ran out of time due to too many problems. This truck is from the movie The Rescuers DownUnder, A great movie if you haven't seen it. The first movie to feature cutting edge 3d animation of the time and still looks not too bad today. The movie bombed at the box office due to being released along side Home Alone.... This MOC features drive using 2x L Motors, and steering using a servo. The crane with in the movie fires net rockets and can be used to lift stuff with a hook, is powered by 2 M Motors. As I said this was a terrible build and tho looks good, doesn't function too well. Copying the movie truck its clear the animators didn't really concentrate of actual mechanics. haha. The truck in the movie gives new definition to the term "floating axle" Never the less I did my best to copy it. More pics here. https://flic.kr/s/aHskbQkgQh Edited May 18, 2015 by Doc_Brown Quote
Jurss Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Good to see, that You have finished it, and it looks good. Quote
Rockbrick Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 ....and with the mad max movie coming out we can expect to see more marvellous creations like this one...? Quote
Nalyd997 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 ....and with the mad max movie coming out we can expect to see more marvellous creations like this one...? I watched the original last night and am thinking on making a studless interceptor. Can't wait to see the new movie though! Quote
Doc_Brown Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 ....and with the mad max movie coming out we can expect to see more marvellous creations like this one...? Hehehe, are you spying on me? I'm gunna put off watching the new mad max for now. But I do have a creation half done. 4 x PP tires to give you a clue. I think this may be the year of Mad Max stuff! Gunna be awesome. Quote
vliet Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) In the mad max 4 trailer there is a truck which I think looks a bit like the 8466 because of the fat tyres Edited May 18, 2015 by vliet Quote
darsedz Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 very interesting and unique design... good to see it finished ;) Quote
nerdsforprez Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Holy crap. This is too good. The build itself is great, but to think of actually copying this model is oustanding. I'll bet many members are too young to remember or probably never were even exposed to this show. We should take a poll. Who (and be honest out there) has never even heard of this show..... or knew about the truck? (before you went and googled it) Who knew exactly what this truck is all about as soon as it was posted? - I did - guilty.......watched it way too much as a kid. I would be interested to know people's responses. Outstanding build - and thanks for the dip in the nostalgia pool........ Quote
nerdsforprez Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Perhaps not because of the actual aesthetics or functionality of this build (although I, personally, IMHO think the model looks great), but for the nostalgia of this build I think it is front-page worthy. I think alot of people would relate to the build. Many people who otherwise would not be exposed to it b/c they do not read Technic forums.........moderator's opinion? Quote

sm1995 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Amazing Rescuers Down Under used to be my favorite movie when I was a kid. I used to watch it almost everyday ( according to my parents ) and I remember being in awe everytime Mcleach's truck came on screen, even back then I loved trucks with huge wheels. You did a superb job replicating it btw, couldn't have been easy. Quote
Stephan Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Wow! This is a really nice model, based on a really awesome truck from a really nice movie!! (Photo) instructions would be even more awesome Quote
vliet Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) I started yesterday building a 8070 in black and then give it a mad max make-over, with bigger wheels and different look and motorize it of course Edited May 31, 2015 by vliet Quote
