sam89 Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Check this out on Classic Castle: http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/article...feedback07.html Here's the most interesting part: Army Battle PacksWe are also in discussions over these too, they will not be launched in mass retail, but we are looking into doing some direct / shop@home items (still to be confirmed). In the meantime we are launching some small impulse purchase items which include one minifigure plus accessories (as you have already heard from Eurobricks), one of them at least should help with your Army building Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted August 14, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted August 14, 2007 Very interesting news... Thanks Sam!! Quote
Christian Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Thanks Sam! I love the fact that eurobricks is mentioned in the interview! Quote
Siegfried Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Thanks for posting this. A point that I would like to point out is; We were really lacking some girl wigs within our element portfolio, and felt this was a good time to do a new one. Ideally when we make a new element it should be as generic as possible so it can be used in multiple themes. We decided on this one, which could work for Castle, Hermione in Harry Potter and Marion in Indiana Jones. I love that hair piece! Another reason to look forward to Indy Lego! *sweet* Quote
El Bucanero Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Thanks for the info Mr Sam! Well, it clears up some things for me. But it looks good! Mr Tiber Quote
Vader Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Sound's like they really do have plan's for this line to continue, glad to hear it too as it's really impressed me over the last year. Not long for troll's and hopefully the dwarves too. Troll's On!!!!!! Quote
natelite Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Blearh. Nothing we don't already know. :-P As for the civilian medieval theme, I am glad they are considering a S@H release. I don Quote
Asuka Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Thanks for the link, sam89, it was a really interesting lecture. It is because the kids in the tests are not building an adventure with the sets but are playing these like action figures. While there is nothing wrong with that, it just detracts from lego's roots. It is afterall a BUILD and play set, not a play ONLY set. That Quote
hewkii9 Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 (edited) Hurray! more factions! And I'm betting that at least one of them is human- can't have 3 nonhumans on 1 human. A new torso on a fig....civilian-esque hopefully? And oooh...so we're getting a Marion fig...... Augh. of the 6 new sets, there'll be account exclusives. Please be TRU only and not the 'exclusive Brickmaster' sets BZP heard of. Still.....9 new sets... And a final thought- 2 impulse sets? I'm thinking the knight and The Good Magician. Please be a dwarf, I need stubbies... Edited August 14, 2007 by hewkii9 Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Excellent find Sam !! OK I am so happy that the impulse line is what I/we have speculated: 1 fig + accessories 8- Quote
SWMAN Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Very cool. I love how unlike KK, they can expand this theme to other factions and groups, just like he said they are going to do. I wish they woudl release BP, but the impulse sets sound cool. Great for army building. Quote
SuvieD Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 I really think LEGO is going in the right direction with this line and in general. It seems as though we may be entering a true golden age of LEGO where model designers build the best sets they can that appeal to numerous groups and additional products that will fill in any gaps. I for one really like the new castle line (except for the skeletons) and can hardly wait for the new types creatures and knights to come. Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 I just read the whole article on CC and there is something really interesting regarding Civilians "sets" Throughout all the testing we have done for Castle we have included several Civilian style sets for the kids to review with the rest of our proposals. Unfortunately when it comes to the ranking of products they always come at the bottom of the pile, even when we have tried to spice them up by including some sort of battle or attack scenario to the products, they just never rank very highly. Kids really prefer just to have a big Castle to protect and a load of Battle machines and vehicles. That doesn't surprise me unfortunatly !! Bloody kids always want vehicles |-/ I wonder if that is true or if TLC want that and does whatever to show that this is a fact !!! As a kid I loved those houses and what have you, I didn't need a vehicle per set !! However this following paragraph is way more interesting for us AFOLs ;-) This doesn Quote

sam89 Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 Xwingyoda is referring the new "Impulse" line of sets coming in 2008. See this thread: http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...showtopic=10344 LEGO Impulse 5610 Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 People see these things and say to themselves "what the heck, I'll grab a few while I am still here" (quite impulsive X-D ). Yeay I know but I will tell you what is going to happen - at least in Paris. Shops, mainly our "Lego" shop and TRU won't order enough, and crazy guys like me will buy loads and loads of those knights so that there will be out of them in weeks so you can't have an impulse buying on something that is already gone :-P Seriously I am sure they will be hard to get !! I just would love to see those small sets at the cash register where I do my grocery shopping: lets have 2 more (and so on !!) Yeay only 2 since its only grocery shopping hehe I also wonder how they will look: will there be small carton boxes like in the 80's or polybags ?? Or kind of like Kinder Eggs ?? *yoda* Quote
Marius Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Well, If there are impulse sets that tie in with Castle, LEGO Impulse 5614 - Der Gute Magier EUR 2,99 LEGO Impulse 5615 - Der Ritter EUR 2,99 ...seem likely candidates. A Mage on the side of good, and a Knight seems perfect for the line, and at 3 euro's each... Quote
jamtf Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 at 3 euro's each... "What the heck" on! :-P Quote
Marius Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 "What the heck" on! :-P Exactly! :D A Sorcerer/Mage seems like a rather unique addition to an army, but if the knight is any good, and generic enough to be a random unit I might get multiples at that price! *y* That article is very interesting, and it seems worth it to stick to that theme for a while. Shakar Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 (edited) Initially K.K was developed to introduce a range of ConstrAction figures, and was heavily reliant on being quite story driven, with a lot of focus on a specific group of characters. This however caused several restrictions when it came to the development of the Lego System based products, which had to fit under the same communication umbrella. Very good. Except Bionicle, I don't think Lego themes should have complex storylines. Also the change in the Companies strategy was to go back to our roots, so the System Playtheme products needed to be in focus with a new Castle launch rather than a series of action figures. "go back to our roots". I love this sentence. :'-)Throughout all the testing we have done for Castle we have included several Civilian style sets for the kids to review with the rest of our proposals. Unfortunately when it comes to the ranking of products they always come at the bottom of the pile, even when we have tried to spice them up by including some sort of battle or attack scenario to the products, they just never rank very highly. trooperdavinfelth Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 As Shakar's sig states, there's a bit of Shakar in all of us, and the bit that's in me is that I totally agree on the complex storylies... Err, did I say lies? I prefer the basic storyline in this streak. Anyway, I also love the 'back to our roots' sentence. It tells me that Lego will be making more sets like these, just basic good soldier vs. evil whatever. I don't really like the idea of civvie sets only available at S@H, but I think one civvie set every line would not be unhealthy. I'm intrigued about the impulse sets. I can see a spiffy new knight coming! I just hope he has a new head, although he probably would ha' said so. Epic says just too much to me. I can only wait for more and more races to be created by Lego. You're getting there, Lego, just keep going! *sing* Clearly there will be more sets, for a possible example, a Goblin Cave. It has 4 Goblins, 2 Dwarves, a forge for making swords, and random stuff. A VERY SPECIAL ITEM? 8- Quote
alex54 Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 This article is really interested! It permit to see how the new sets are made: idea-> children test -> commercial and financial aspect->sucess... Just hope! I really like this line, so I decided to buy it... My poor wallet! Please, no new suopr line for 2008 please, I've got enought stuff with City, other sets like CC and MS, and now with Castle! So no Pirates for 2008! :-D Those impulse sets sounds good! Like Yoda said, the packaging of those little sets lets me curious... Quote
Starwars4J Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Well this is good to hear, thanks for the link Sam! More factions? More dwarf/troll sets? Roots? Bring it ON! X-D This is all fantastic news, and shows a very bright future for the company, and for us! I can't wait to see what they have to offer! Quote
jifel Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 i can just imagine what battle packs would be like... skeleton battle pack: includes 1 black horse 1 white horse 1 black skellie and 4 white skellie plus ascesseries and young dragon(or catapult or barricade):$10/15.00 royal knight battle pack: 1 horse 1 mounted knight 4 soldiers ascesseries and catapult(or a barricade): $10/15.00 dwarf battle pack: 5 dwarves with a horse pony and a cart with gold or a crossbow cart: $10/15.00 jifel Quote
