Starwars4J Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 (edited) So I've been wanting to do something with this bionicle head which (to me) looks perfect for a droid. Tonight I whipped up this body: As you can see the legs are still largely unfinished, and I'm not 100% happy with the hands, but I'll probably stick with it even though I'm not really thrilled with using that tired technique for the arm joints. At first I thought the head begged for a large, armored, bulky body but this just sort of evolved and I really like it. Any thoughts? Edited August 9, 2007 by Starwars4J Quote
Kahgarak Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Personally, I think that instead of a droid, you should make this into a minifig Exo Toa from the Bionicle 2002 series. Just add a cannon on the right hand, bulk it up a bit (if possible) and complete the legs. Oh, and make a seperate head for when the ET is on auto-pilot. And even if you don't want to do all that, it looks great. I really look forward to seeing the end result. X-D :-) Quote
Brainbox Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I like the hands. Actually, it looks like he's wearing one of theose frilly cuffs :-D ! No, seriously, I do like the hands. I dunno, maybe (if possible) fill in the body. 1x1s or maybe a clip piece of some sort. Quote

Well I see why you'd want the body filled up, but with the way it is now, it has hips. Just experimenting in some new articulation designs :-D Quote

Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted August 9, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted August 9, 2007 Very smart design, I wouldn't be able to make something like this... The title says "Multi-purpose droid ...". Could you give a list of the things this droid can do :-P ? Quote
Starwars4J Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 Ah, I see. Is there another phone piece on the back, or just one on the front? Yup, it wouldn't be stable otherwise, right now the joints are very strong Very smart design, I wouldn't be able to make something like this...The title says "Multi-purpose droid ...". ZeekyBoogeyDoog Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 You're on a roll with these bionicle parts! *y* Quote
Brainbox Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Yup, it wouldn't be stable otherwise, right now the joints are very strong I presumed there would be, I just couldn't see it. Quote
Starwars4J Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 I've finished the droid...though I was missing a few colors [sad] so if you see a part that looks out of place...yeah, it's going to get replaced. It's really articulated, with a lightsaber able to clip onto the back thigh. Onto the other thigh a yet-to-be-built large blaster will be clipped. The droid is meant to be multi-purpose, so the weapons aren't a necessity. Anyway I guess I'm happy with how the legs turned out, I just wish I had the bley torsos on hand. I may or may not add onto the feet, it's already sorta tall, but I had to use those pieces to make it compact and able to take advantage of the hip joint. Gallery when moderated Quote
Starwars4J Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 yeah I know :-/ I need to think up something else for that...but I'm worried about the legs looking too big, making the arms appear tiny 8-| Any ideas? Quote
