Zepher Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 OoC: Should have gained 10 gold from the battle. "I was born into it," laughs Boomingham, though his eyes are narrowed at the mention of the Wolfgang. "I was a King for a while. Back in the Orcish wars. I wouldn't mind accompanying you to the magic shop before we make our way to the library. Might as well see what they have."
Pyrovisionary Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Eric grunted affirmatively. Clearly, he wasn't too keen of speaking about this topic of his past, even though he considered Jon and Lawrence to be friends. For the sake of that friendship, the Nord provided an answer, be it a very short one. "Ja, I was. Next-in-line to be Jarl one day...", he mused. Eric then cheered up somewhat, trying to steer the conversation elsewhere. With another customary wide and cheeky grin, he confirmed Sarge's boast. "Indeed, Jon. If the Wolfgang wins that brawl of theirs, I ought to start a clan of my own in Eubric. No better place for sea-faring people such as my own kin, if you ask me." "I was born into it," laughs Boomingham, though his eyes are narrowed at the mention of the Wolfgang. "I was a King for a while. Back in the Orcish wars. I wouldn't mind accompanying you to the magic shop before we make our way to the library. Might as well see what they have." Sarge nodded at the two's recollections and chuckled to himself "All you highborn types in Heroica and here's me with me soldiering. I might die a noble, though most other mercs aint gonna be happy if the conditions for that title we earned in Babeleth are realised. " He paused to chew on the tobacco some more, then joked at the others "Then again. If these sisters take their time on deciding who's the leader I'll die of the damned curse." Having looked haunted for a moment, the old man spat out his tobacco onto the sand and rubbed his hands together. "Right then. Let's head out to the slums "
Zepher Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Boomingham explodes with laughter. "Aye. Still unsure why exactly we're here… what was it again? To spy on the naughty aunties for our goody auntie?" Boomingham uncorks a mead and starts to drink it. "What was it you did in Babeleth? I don't believe I've heard the story."
Pyrovisionary Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Boomingham explodes with laughter. "Aye. Still unsure why exactly we're here… what was it again? To spy on the naughty aunties for our goody auntie?" Boomingham uncorks a mead and starts to drink it. "What was it you did in Babeleth? I don't believe I've heard the story." Sarge grinned at Boomingham and shrugged in approval "I just stand next to people looking 'ard as nails, espionage aint exactly me thing. Babeleth though, that was my thing." He cheerfully began the tale, his bad memory did it injustice. "Cut a long story short, the vets told us to go find out about the Wolfgang witch bitch in a tower in Babeleth, but the Wolfgang counter-hired us to blow up the tower. We were all for it, but one of our party disagreed, and framed us for a murder in the city of Vega. So, we scarpered, picked up Dain - dwarf bomb bloke, owns the bomb stall in the marketplace, and blew the tower. Our reward was a lordship if the Wolfgang won and a big paycheck. They seemed pretty nice actually - polite. The houses tend to treat us with common contempt, though I hear the Ziegfrieds are different." The old man exhaled after the long speech and stifled a yawn. "You don't like the Wolfgang do ya mate?" He chuckled cheerfully
Khorne Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Boomingham explodes with laughter. "Aye. Still unsure why exactly we're here… what was it again? To spy on the naughty aunties for our goody auntie?" Boomingham uncorks a mead and starts to drink it. "What was it you did in Babeleth? I don't believe I've heard the story." Boomingham's remark made Eric laugh. A rare feat for the usually aloof Nord. "I came here because the notice said something about 'Sisterhood of Danab', implying there'd be tons of fine women." Eric then grinned ever-so wolfishly: "Needless to say, I am rather disappointed, heh". Our reward was a lordship if the Wolfgang won and a big paycheck." "Ja,That sounds about right", Eric chipped in. "The Veterans will probably find some others to do their dirty work for them and take out the Sorceress. I care very little for her, but helping out the Wolfgang in Babeleth was an offer that was just too tempting." Eric shrugged and smiled amicably towards Boomingham, trying to reassure his old pal. "Like I said, Lawrence, it's nothing personal. Just business. I truly aspire to be more than a hero of Heroica, a mere pawn in the hands of the Houses. I want to rise above that and the Wolfgang is my way towards that goal." There were little people in Eubric Eric would speak so open with about the happenings in Babeleth or his intended goals. He knew Sarge was a like-minded individual with similar goals and also felt his friendship with Lawrence was strong enough to overcome petty political ideological differences. The old knight would most likely understand Eric's choices, even though he might not completely agree with them. Eric clutched Conspirator'shandle tightly. "One day, Reno, Eubric and the Crystalline Sea will be free. I was there when they took your life and I fully intend to rectify that mistake.", the Raider silently reflected.
Zepher Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Boomingham produces his handkerchief to mop his brow again. He chews on the inside of his cheek. "Wouldn't say I dislike the Wolfgang. Only bona fide member of it I've really met was a chap named Poncho and he was a good man." Boomingham wrings out his handkerchief. "But Ulric is a different can of worms. The houses... look, I'm not saying there aren't problems. But they're not royalty, at least. They've done something to get where they are. The Hinckwells... sure, they inherited it, and the Bonapartes too from what I've heard, but they do the work to be where they are. Anyone who needs to use a witch to brainwash people into thinking he's a good choice to lead probably isn't the best choice to lead."

Khorne Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Eric followed Sarge into the Magic Shop. He cared little for the werepanther's story and instead of listening he gazed upon the myriad of magical goods the merchant had for sale. The Nord fumbled in his pockets and took out a set of bones. He had to sell these before he forgot he had them. After all, only a select few shops want to pay for these. "How much for these small bones?", Eric queried the shopkeeper. "I know the big one is worth 50 gold, but what are you willing to give for these?" While awaiting an answer, Eric looked at the selection of gems. There were multiples that he wanted, but he settled on another Amethyst, so that he could restore Conspirator to its former glory. Eric buys an Amethyst (-100 gold) and a Scroll of Blindness (-100 gold). He now has 101 gold left (money received from bones not yet included).
Sandy Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 "How much for these small bones?", Eric queried the shopkeeper. "I know the big one is worth 50 gold, but what are you willing to give for these?" "They sell for 5 gold a piece. Sigh..."
Khorne Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 "They sell for 5 gold a piece. Sigh..." "Wow, geez, no need to sigh, pal. Magic stuff just isn't my forte", Eric replied somewhat annoyed, completely oblivious that the werepanther was sighing more likely of missing his mother than of being annoyed by Eric's question. Eric sells 2x Small Bones (+10 gold) and 1x Ancient Bone (+50 gold). He now has 161 gold.
Pyrovisionary Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) Sarge sold his chalice and attempted to sell his garnet to the shopkeeper. He then bought a scroll of sealing and a scroll of blindness. He also eyed the oath, but thought it prudent to get a discount first. Edited August 2, 2015 by Pyrovisionary
Khorne Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Noticing Sarge selling his Garnet, Eric was reminded of the spare Garnet he, too, had in his pocket. "How much for the garnet?"
Sandy Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 Sarge attempted to sell his garnet to the shopkeeper. "How much for the garnet?" "Oh, I guess I will take them from your hands for 50 gold per gem..."
Khorne Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 A look of doubt came to Eric's face as he rolled the garnet around in his hand. "Hmmm...Whatever, sold!" Eric handed over the gem and accepted the coin. He now had 210 gold, but used 100 gold of this to buy a Scroll of Confusion. In the end, he had 110 gold left
Pyrovisionary Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) Sarge handed over his garnet, chalice and 80 gold, in exchange for a scroll of Sealing and a scroll of blindness (50+70+80=200) Leaving him with 44 gold. Edited August 2, 2015 by Pyrovisionary
Zepher Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Boomingham's poise also changes significantly, drawing himself up to full height and straightening his back as he's told he's the talk of the town. He grimaces upon seeing the Orc, but after exhaling deeply continues with his plan. "What were you and the green-skin chatting about?" Boomingham glares at the green-skin. "Were you giving him trouble? Or was it the other way around." Boomingham scratches his chin. "Say, what is a Rainbow knight doing so far away from the gates of the Palace? Seems like you chaps pull long shifts, strange to schlep all the way down to the Hovels afterwards."
Sandy Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 QM Note: Thanks to Kintobor's example, I realized I could put the map of Salmanda into the spoilered section and make all of our lives easier that way. After Sarge and Eric made their purchases, the shopkeeper buried his face into his hands and began to wail. "I cannot live with this guilt! I might as well join my mother and haunt the city for the rest of eternity!" "What were you and the green-skin chatting about?" Boomingham glares at the green-skin. "Were you giving him trouble? Or was it the other way around." Boomingham scratches his chin. "Say, what is a Rainbow knight doing so far away from the gates of the Palace? Seems like you chaps pull long shifts, strange to schlep all the way down to the Hovels afterwards." The red knight's smile turned crooked. "With all due respect, my businesses here are none of yours. I am a Royal Rainbow Knight, I go where-ever I want, whenever I want." "Help..." "OY! Boomingham, it's best if we just move along now. Pyrovisionary Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) After Sarge and Eric made their purchases, the shopkeeper buried his face into his hands and began to wail. "I cannot live with this guilt! I might as well join my mother and haunt the city for the rest of eternity!" Sarge kindly patted the shopkeeper on the shoulder "Don't worry lad, we'll go find ya mother right now. After that why not come back to Eubric with us? Y'know, get away from it all. Magic items are in demand mate." He smiled then strode out of the shop. The red knight's smile turned crooked. "With all due respect, my businesses here are none of yours. I am a Royal Rainbow Knight, I go where-ever I want, whenever I want." "Help..." As Sarge got outside he heard the red knight's arrogant proclamaitions "With all due respect - little as ya may deserve - You could lie face first at the bottom of the ocean whenever you wanted, right laddy?" He then nodded confidently at Boomingham and Rex, and put his thumbs through his belt. Edited August 2, 2015 by Pyrovisionary
Zepher Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Boomingham glances over his shoulder to Rex, whispering out of the side of his mouth. "If you would like to step away, that is more than okay. You have been a valuable asset, but if you wish to protect your reputation, I understand." Turning then back to the knight: "This is my comrade. I think we'd both like to know what you're doing in the Hovels bothering a little green-skin this late at night. Business? Or pleasure?"

I think we'd both like to know what you're doing in the Hovels bothering a little green-skin this late at night. Business? Or pleasure?" "HEY! If you seriously want to pick a fight, I'm not going to miss out!" Seeing Boomingham's companions, the Crimson Bear Knight's posture faltered and sweat began to trickle down his forehead. "Look, let's be reasonable here. The people living down here at the slums are worthless. They work as servants and handymen, if they work at all. Most of the time they just loiter and cause trouble. Like this thieving rugrat here. I just took back what he had pickpocketed during the day. I've taken it upon myself to keep them in check, you see." "Yer a big ol' liar! You're just stealin' what I stole to yerself! Err... sir." "Shut your trap, you piece of shit!" The knight slapped the orcish boy with his gauntleted hand, making him drop to the ground. "See how arrogant and ruthless they are? I've told the Almagesta time and again that we ought to raze the slums to the ground and evict these lowlives out of our beautiful city!"
