Battle actions:

Sarge uses a pheonix essence on Heckz

Sarge attacks the Gobling princess (And goblin underling A) - Back row

Peri Heals Heckz from the back row

Heckz Attacks Goblin Underling B from the back row

Sarge chucks a pheonix essence at Heckz's body, then makes another, cautious, attack on the goblins. This is what he lived for, or what he would die from.

Ooc: If I roll another 4 or under, I am going to cry

QM Note: Pyro, you might want to pay more attention to the battle actions. You just ordered Periwinkle to heal Heckz who was just revived with full health, and had Heckz physically attack his target instead of casting a spell...

Round Five of the Battle Outside the Buried Pyramid:

Sarge uses Phoenix Essence on Heckz - (Heckz: revived with full health)

Sarge vs. Princess Gobbledegook (& Goblin Underling A) - Deflected Damage (Sarge: 47 health+20 SP-57 dmg=10 health)

>Periwinkle heals Heckz - Heal (no effect)

>Heckz vs. Goblin Underling B - Critical Hit (Goblin Underling B: 162 health-(50x2/2=50 dmg)=112 health+sealed)

Tontor Shaggymane - Free Hit on Sarge Goblin Underling C (Goblin C: 42 health-27 dmg=15 health)

Goblin Underling A - Free Hit on Periwinkle (Periwinkle: no diversion, 3 health-(36/2=18 dmg)=0 health)

Goblin Underling C - Free Hit on Heckz (Heckz: 34 health-(36/4=9 dmg)=25 health)

Sarge revives Heckz, but he doesn't get his orders straight, directing Periwinkle to heal Heckz too but disregard her own poor health. Heckz's attack with the dagger does not pack the same pow as his spells, either. In the end, both men get damaged while Periwinkle is knocked out. Five enemies are still standing.

Sarge throws a smoke bomb

Loot Distribution

Boomingham: Meat Lump, Floral Bomb, Seal Bomb

Eric: Meat Lump, Floral Bomb, Seal Bomb

Rex: Soma, Deadly Venom

Boomingham tosses Rex some consumables as he heals himself and his two party mates. "Thanks for the help, chappo. Too bad that bird was so damn dodgy. Think we made quicker work of the sirens." Boomingham barks out some laughter as he tosses some more items Eric's way. "Nice arm you've got there, Eric. Think I've only ever seen you swing a sword, don't know if I've ever seen you slice and dice from a far. Neat trick. Not as much fun as getting your hands dirty, though. Shall we venture on then, and say a little thank you to those lions for stranding us with the birdies?"

Posted

OOC: Alrighty, I'm back from my little trip! Sad to see CutCobra leave the Quest :sad_cry: . Thanks for posting Eric's actions, Zepher  .

Eric grinned. "If it were up to me, you'd only see me wreak carnage with my blade. There's not much honor to be gained by killing a foe from a distance. It's cowardly to stay back and not look your adversary in the eyes."

The Nord cracked his knuckles and led the way towards the were-lions, his chest broad, back straight and chin up in an animalistic display of power and leadership. Every lion trouppe has to recognize its great. Its leader, its packmaster.

"Let's show these cats who's in charge here."

Sarge throws a smoke bomb

Sarge saw it best to leave Tontor and the goblins squabble over the gem, so he tossed a smoke bomb, lifted the unconscious Periwinkle to his shoulder and lead the party away from the battle.

THE BATTLE IS TERMINATED!

Periwinkle came to as they ran, and got to her own feet.

heroicaquest130-periwinkle.jpg

"Thanks for taking us out of the bind, Sarge. I don't know what Heckz was thinking... I should be getting back to the Temple to report to the Revered Aunt, but I don't really have anything new to report. Am I excused?"

What would the party do now?

Despite their early lead, the heroes managed to catch up with the pair of werelions, who had left a clear track through the thick jungle of the wetlands. They encountered them at the mouth of an overgrown cave with a carving of a red-eyed skull above it.

"Don't worry, Goldmane. I'll keep you safe from the beastmen."

heroicaquest130-liaragoldmane.jpg

"For the final time, I'm not worried! And you should be more concerned about our rivals, because they caught up with us. Thanks to you leaping in the air for every little bug we saw..."

heroicaquest130-sumbawarmane.jpg

"Little bug?! The insects here are humongous! You saw them, too!"

heroicaquest130-liaragoldmane.jpg

"Stop embarrassing us in front of these people, Sumba." The werelioness glanced at the heroes, looking somewhat miffed. "So, rivals, it's a real maze inside there. We'll let you decide which way to go first."

~TREASURE HUNT #2: BEASTMEN'S LAIR~

heroicaquest130-beastmenslairmap.jpg

The party must decide which of the four paths they would take from the start to the treasure. All four paths are full of perils that hinder movement, so the party must tread with care. Whichever party reaches the treasure with the least amount of turns taken, wins the race.

If the heroes choose path A, the Rakshasa will choose path C, and vice versa. If the heroes choose path B, the Rakshasa will choose path D, and vice versa.

"A puzzle...", Eric said somewhat annoyed. He surveyed the paths that lay before him and said: "B is obviously the shortest route, but I wouldn't be surprised if that one is riddled with traps and whatnot. We could take C, chances are lower of finding traps there, but we'd have to break down a barricade and jump over a hole, which also makes us lose a lot of time. Any thoughts?"

"Thank you for your sportsmanship, m'lady," Boomingham says as he bows. Turning the maze he scratches his temple. "Don't know. There's no way for us to check for traps as it is, but neither can they. Add to that we can both break through barriers easily enough. Seems our best bet is to send them on the longest path, which would mean us taking C and them taking A... which is exactly what you've suggested, my old friend." Boomingham laughs. "Make the call."

Eric lead the party to the third tunnel from the left, while the Rakshasa took the first tunnel.

The heroes moved through the tunnel with no means to search for traps (5 turns), and they did trip into one on the way (10 turns). They dug through a barricade with Boomingham's shovel (13 turns) and jumped over one hole on the ground (15 turns).

Meanwhile, the Rakshasa moved equally quickly through their tunnel (7 turns), encountering no traps but having to destroy a total of three barricades with their shovels (16 turns). This meant that the heroes reached the treasure first!

But the Beastmen's Lair was not called that for no reason, which the heroes soon found out as a shrill battlecry emerged from the tunnel ahead. Three bestial men with thick fur, sharp claws and snapping mandibles charged at the party with supernatural speed. The beastmen communicated in strange clickings of tongue. One of them, seemingly a shaman of their tribe, was carrying the fabled Crystal Skull on his staff.

Sarge plots a route to the Shipwreck shore via the Kalakita bog. He considers the past battles, has his old age and the curse finally gotten the better of him? Slowed his mind, weakened his resolve. The sea air was good for his lungs, sure, but he still needed a cure; and soon. There were some holy beads being sold in the palace district, they might slow the unholy curse?

Eric grinned wickedly. "And that's how it's done, kitty-cats."

Eyeing the mysterious creatures, he took out his trusty blade Godricsleif. He used a vial of Smelling Salts and prepared to attack.

Eric uses Smelling Salts, then attacks Beastman Warrior A from the front row, using Godricsleif.

Sarge plots a route to the Shipwreck shore via the Kalakita bog.

Sarge and Heckz arrived at the verdant wetlands of Kalakita shortly after Eric's party had moved on to the Beastmen's Lair. The trees of the jungle were oddly quiet, but the pair could hear thumping and crashing coming their way. Suddenly an enormous Floraphant thrashed through the woods and nearly stomped on them. It's splashing caused some colorful frogs to jump at the heroes, too.

Sarge begins to draw his sword but hesitates - They would need their strength for the Ship-wreck. He beckons for Heckz to flee with Sarge. It was cowardly and weak to flee but there were only two of them, and they'd be better prepared for the shipwreck. While running through the undergrowth he puts a great potion into his Hollow Demonic greatsword. He also downs a nostrum, whilst Heckz drinks mead.

They make their way to the Shipwreck shore
