NateStraight Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 (edited) I've been picking up a few random Chima sets and love the figures and basic set ideas, but I wanted to push it quite a bit further into LEGO Space territory. Here's a ship I built to try to give one the Raven tribe guys a better ride than the awfully ugly chunky things their tribe gets in the official sets: I've dubbed it a "Bateleur"-class warbird, kind of following some of the ideas from #70003 Eris' Interceptor. Comments welcome. I'm pretty new to MOCing. The middle canopy holds the little speeder [come on, every LEGO spaceship needs a speeder!] folded up. The rear canopy has a winch and container, since I couldn't come up with anything better. The SNOT junctions holding the head on seem to be off somewhere by maybe a fourth of a plate, as it works itself ever so slightly loose. I'm not stoked about the wedge plates / wings around the rear canopy; a bit chunkier and more disjointed than I'd like, but I ran out of larger wing plates. The wings will bend up about 25 degrees on ball joints; didn't get a picture of that feature... ah well. Edited March 22, 2015 by NateStraight Quote
___ Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 WOW!!! Perfect design and concept, perfect simple color combi (BTW my rooms are in Black&Red so... ), perfect camera focal blur, I also like how you used those trans-red SPACE canopies etc., one of the most interesting MOC I have seen, simply beautiful piece of bricks! Master_Data Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 This beats LEGO's any day! Just replace the eyes- I understand what you were trying to achieve, but they just don't fit with the shapes you usedon the rest of the craft. Otherwise, great work! Quote

Didn't you mean those red nasal bricks (or it's tongue maybe? I actually do not know what they meant to represent anyway )? Cos those trans red thin edgy eyes looks quite fine with the model concept to me... On the other hand: what about change those few trans orange bricks for trans red having it all strictly black-red cool color combination, huh? Edited March 22, 2015 by bublible Quote
Robert8 Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Wonderful! It reminded me of the Roboforce theme Congratulations! Quote
Capt Wolf Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Great build! And as good as that is, the general concept is even better. Now I have to go back and look at Chima sets and see how I might be able to modify/repurpose them. Quote
