I saw this, but where do the "rare parts" come from? Are they prototypes? I know that there is a blue knight visor available on BrickLink for $80. MAGICBRICKS and Old Lego Parts & sets both have some "special parts."

Starwars4J gave a good answer here. In short prototypes are the biggest reason. I have heard that Lego do a batch with every colour to test for strength, although you would think the clear ones would produce the best data.

I'm having Deja Vu. I seem to remember seeing trans-clear thestrals on Brickshelf. They sent them to Ambassadors to get feedback on new parts.

That's the guy I got my red one from, I made a joint deal to get a clear one as well. You'll soon be mine, darling *wub*

The woman who runs the store (Magicbricks) is really nice, and I have to vouch for how fast she ships things out, I usually get them within a week even though she's in Germany and I live in the US.

If anyone hasn't gotten the new trans-GitD shroud I'd recommend it also, it glows brightly *wub*

yes, the glow is really nice on the new color from 10176... i got about 10 from SLIM CHANCE for about 60 US cents when the set was first released. they are what appear in my MOC, GHOST TOWN'S HAUNTED PASS.

actually at first i was very angry that LEGO had replace another color, GITD. but now i see they are still producing both colors (angler fish amush 7771). which i think is strange *wacko* i like a limited pallet of colors.

in any case, i like the newer much better than the old.
