JayDee96 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. Collected lego for years but new to trains and I am completely hooked. I have tried my hand at replicating kyphur's intermodal carriages (seen here http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=73681) in MLcad and think I'm happy with what I came up with. I am beginning to look though bricklink and start ordering some parts. My question now is what would you guys recomend for the colour schemes? I like the yellow but was leaning more towards an orange or green. I think I'm set on orange but I'm struggling with all the different oranges, there are so many! I would like the current Arctic Explorer Orange, what would its particular name be? Other colour suggestions welcome. Edited February 19, 2015 by JayDee96 Quote
CDM Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) Can't go wrong with yellow (TTX) or blue (CSX) or nondescript dark blueish gray. Dark red would work too for BNSF. If you're going for accuracy...I'm not sure I've ever seen an orange intermodal car but I'm certainly no expert. If you stick with orange, pick a shade that is readily available for a reasonable price. Richfilth Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 The most expensive pieces are the 16 side panels: the original yellow used the old-style panels without an edge lip, and these are significantly more expensive than the newer style ones. If you want to keep the costs down, use the new type ones in an easy-to-find colour. Quote
JayDee96 Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 Thanks for clarifying the colour CDM, not too fussed about accuracy, was more so looking for something that would be different. I had thought about blue and red, it will be behind the Maersk so ideally it would be Maersk blue, but apprentice wages won't cover that. I'll do some more research on what prices will be like. Thanks for the help. Quote
CDM Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 You're welcome and be sure to post photos when you've settled on a color scheme. Quote
