touthomme Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Hey everyone, It's been on my list for a while to try to build a working ballista, and I finally took the time to do it a few weeks ago. It turned out a lot better than I thought it would. The torsion springs are built by twisting LEGO strings with studs on the ends. It can fire a 2x4 brick (or anything that fits in the channel) up to 15 feet. I also put together instructions for it for anyone that might like to try and build one themselves: http://jkbrickworks.com/ballista J Quote
SerenityInFire Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 A+ work. It looks great and is functional too! Quote
Actor Builder Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 This made me very happy. It's beautiful in a ballistic and manly sort of way. Great job. Quote

Mencot Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 That is amazing, it looks good but works even better. And it seems to have a good punch Quote
JackJonespaw Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Quite nice indeed! Really powerful weapon there, you might be able to do some serious damage with that. Quote
XAxles Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Huzzah! Now I have a fearsome office warfare weapon that's better than other office weapons! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Great, thanks a lot for instructions, etc. - very helpful! Quote

BrickJagger Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I'm surprised that Lego hasn't put something like this in one of their official sets. Nice work. Quote
