Electricsteam Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 Well today I just saw this pic: I remeber seeing this somewhere online, I think it's just the coolest thing it's like a double decker bus on rails Quote
detjensrobert Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) Is that a double-cabbed steam loco? Woa... . Edited February 19, 2015 by detjensrobert Quote
Electricsteam Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) Edit.... I'm sorry about that I just feel guilty about starting new topics XD Edited February 19, 2015 by Electricsteam Quote
jtlan Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Hey just so I don't flood the forum with new topics..... what are the guidelines for lego train mocs at cons like brickfair? The point of having forum topics at all is so that things that are logically distinct are different threads... For guidelines, you'd be best off asking the convention organizers what the rules at that particular convention are. (for Brickfair, the FAQ is here.) Quote
Electricsteam Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 I didn't know that ford made trains..... Quote
Dan-147 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I didn't know that ford made trains..... Looks like the "wrong" side of a Shay geared locomotive (the cylinders are upright on the other side). I don't think the FORD logo means that it was built by FORD but rather that it worked in a FORD plant. Shays were usually manufactured by Lima Locomotives and they were able to negotiate tight curves that were common in industrial sites. Their slow speed would not be an issue in that environment. zephyr1934 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I know it's been a while but I wanted to revamp my old topic to get back into the community :D I hope y'all still remember me, I've known its been a long while life has taken over a bit.... To start of my tiny index to get your brains stiring! Here is a neat little one maybe you could get the driving rods in with those engine cranks ... The SP (and its sister, the Central Pacific which was later absorbed by the SP) had all sorts of strange steam engines, e.g., the 4-2-4 CP Huntington. It, the SP 10 above, and a few others can be found on this page. From the excessively large cab I'm guessing the SP 10 started life as a tram locomotive, perhaps on an interurban train that ran in the street before electrification. Ah ha! It is a tram engine... or I guess in American terminology a "steam dummy". Someone happened to send me a photo in front of the preserved Mammoth Cave RR equipment and look at that... Looks even better from the front Quote
