Theo van Vroenhoven Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 If you don't want to wait til August.... http://www.designer-han.nl/lego/dragline_cc.htm Februari 1 is only 2 days away ;-) Quote
jantjeuh Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Yeah, I've got the parts ordered for that beauty by Han already Quote
Duky Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 BTW, B-Model is a tower crane. Looks great at the box. Quote
Emmi Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 BTW, B-Model is a tower crane. Looks great at the box. Picture? From where do you know that, Promobricks said that you aren't allowed to take pictures of the back of the box, they are only provisional and don't seem to have anything on it at the back at all. Quote
Duky Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Sorry, i have no photos! I saw the B-Model on the backside of the box. I visited the fair today. Quote
Emmi Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Oh ok. Any new information on the Fire Plane? Do all three sets release in August? Quote
Foggy Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I really like this new edition of 8288, :Dgonna buy it 4 sure ;) Would be great to have both on display - Quote
Jockos Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I knew it will be nothing but tower crane. I hope it won't be like 8288's but this: https://www.google.hu/search?q=tower+crane&biw=1536&bih=739&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=jLjLVOL-BcOyUfyXgfgC&ved=0CCgQsAQ Quote

timtimgo87 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 damn, my wish was a full RC tower crane as the flagship for 2016, but when this is the B-model my dreams are discarded. Those many 1x15 beams in blue make it possible to build a nice and blue tower crane Quote
Miscman Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Hey, I don't know if this has been said already but you can see in this photo a new technic beam with alternating holes. e.i. hole top, hole side, hole top, hole side, etc... It's in white in the front on the opposite side of the cabin down low. I've started to moc this baby already. Got the boom, body and tracks done. :) thanks to the guy who posted the pic of a working gear box!! New picture ... That is a lot of string ! Do you think, we will get the most Lego string, ever put in a Lego set ? . Quote

DrJB Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Rather ODD that the crane is called 'Lifting Service'. It's the kind of crane you find in junk yards full of old cars. Quote
Miscman Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Ah, silly me. :p That is just 5x7 light bluish gray liftarm: Quote
kamsohal Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 im also thinking of doing hans crawler crane but doing it double in size.should be awesome. Quote
Corvette3 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 WOW! i think i love it, it seems to be able to drive, is an L motor powerful enough? but ignoring its likely huge gear reduction... I WANNA BUILD IT SO BADLY!!! Quote
Emmi Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 WOW! i think i love it, it seems to be able to drive, is an L motor powerful enough? but ignoring its likely huge gear reduction... I WANNA BUILD IT SO BADLY!!! It can drive forward and backwards via the L motor, that's what's on the box of the set. Quote
Richard Dower Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 So is it confirmed?...the track base is officially the largest ever for a Technic set?....8275 had 84 threads (42x2), 8043 had 76 threads (38x2). Is this set 90 threads long? The colours are superb, it also gives us a fresh supply of Blue beams, especially in the rare 1x9, and also 1x11 and 1x15....we get panels in Blue that are new for that colour. Overall this set is superb, huge, tons of modding potential....it looks like the boom can be extended and made even loner if you wanted to! Though perhaps the L motor would not handle a longer frame?....maybe use an XL motor? Either way this set will be heavily modded and customised....it is a must for me to buy! Yeah, I've got the parts ordered for that beauty by Han already Jaysus!....how much did it cost to buy all the parts? !!! Quote
Miscman Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Ive been working on my version of this in red-black. I have been thinking forward about how I would further motorize/remote this baby once I get the real thing. I've come to the conclusion I will not mod the final any further as I think it is perfect as it is. If we add one motor to make it 2 motors, you could drive it with steering, then switch by hand to control the boom and winch. Then... Add a fifth drive ring / manual switch to have a motor drive rotation?? Naaa. 3 motors won't help anything as you would need another IR receiver, and still have to switch by hand. 4 motors would just be replicating 8043. The 2, 4-position transmission is awesome. Having these 4 features (drive forward and back, rotate, boom, winch) are perfect for hands-on play. Since it moves so slow the drive function is all you would want. Steering with this setup would just result in spinning in place anyway. Quote
Richard Dower Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 One thing of note....i dont like the LBG #3713 bushes.....imo these would look better in White. As luck would have it i have about 100 of them brand new!, and also the 4265c 1/2 bush in White...yay me! Quote
Saberwing40k Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 A tower crane with a grab is something very unusual, but I've noticed something else. There is not, apparently, any system to move the trolly by rope, although that would be a fairly easy modification, and the b model has extensible tracks. I think that the chassis for the A and B models should actually be reversed, so the A model has extensible tracks, and the B motorized movement. Quote
Miscman Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I agree, It is hard to believe the trolley is not motorized. It would be very easy using a fixed length of string and those pully wheels seen in the A model. I would have preferred they kill the tracks, make it stationary and make it taller. The tracks could be pinned together to make counter weights at the base. Why are these early pics processed blurry and low res?! I mean you have to bring the pic into photoshop to make it look like that. :p Quote
jantjeuh Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Because they're screengrabs from low quality videos. Quote

I think that the chassis for the A and B models should actually be reversed, so the A model has extensible tracks, and the B motorized movement. I think the trolley will be able to move and probably will be motorized as well: With the available gearbox parts, the B-model could have four motorised functions: drive, lift, rotate and move trolley. The A-model has two strings, in the B-model one will be used for lifting and the other could be for moving the trolley back and forth. Not sure about the extendible tracks though, I think the picture on the back is just indicating driving. Quote
