H3NRIK Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 The only real gripe I have about this set is the fact that the outriggers are so primitive. Would it really have been that hard to have them driven, like 42009, or even better, pneumatic? However, if that were the case, they might have to reduce the number of pins they so love... Should be possible to copy the outriggers from the 8455 and put them between axle 1 & 2 like the real thing. Best working outriggers ever! :) Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I like the B model very much,I wounder can the crane move up and down the trailer bed? Quote

Crane seems a small bit slow but he probably didn't give it time to pump. Iv a new white air tank that will suit this issue well :) love this model. Also I'll replace that la with a pneumatic cylinder for sure. The 4L engine doesn't concern me it's not important. Quote
Ondra Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 For me its important, licensed set must represent every aspect of real life vehicle even with number of valves. Quote
davidmull Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 For me its important, licensed set must represent every aspect of real life vehicle even with number of valves. That's also true. It's strange they missed this as there was a lot of thought put into the Volvo engine. Quote

So I dont know, why is there point to call it arocs. They can make some noname trucks as 8285 or 8258 without any license restrictions such as cabin or L type of engine. If you ask me, I dont know why now must be flagship licensed. Think it's Fun to have a toy that are designed to look Like something irl.. Like the unimog! I have motorized that thing beyond reciognition, but it still look Like the Real thing.. :) Quote
davidmull Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Ondra are u sure it's not a 6 cylinder it's hard see for sure Quote

This isn't a mistake, the design process require to do some compromise due to the main specifications, the Lego elements scales, their intrinsic limits, the economic aspect (parts count limit, MSRP, etc.). If you want an absolutely perfect reproduction, Lego models "are notfor you", it's not modelism. The most important thing is that the Lego model must be coherent, even if it's not 100% accurate. aol000xw Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Hmm how many grill designs are? The built model does not look at all like the box pictures. I am not sure which one I dislike more... Don't get me wrong I think it is a great set. It is just the grill that is bugging me. Quote
rollermonkey Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Pretty sure that the scale of LEGO's engine blocks is too large to ALWAYS recreate engine blocks with the correct number of cylinders in the available space... Or do people gripe as much about the one-cylinder engines on the motorcycles, too? Quote
DrJB Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 ... I would also welcome an advance in air compression. I have tried various compressor configurations, some more for show as concepts e.g. Swash Plate Pump and some for raw air power, but a large power supply is needed to compress enough air for systems much bigger than the circuit above and I'm not sure the standard LEGO motors are up to it for long either; currently a single 1/6 compressor is driven from an L-motor so that's a lot of L-motors! I have previously used a car tyre air compressor but it was noisy, got hot, and it is difficult to find a suitable product in the shops for continuous use - most are designed to reach a pressure and switch off, or rest for half an hour after inflating a single car tyre, whilst others are capable of providing enough air for a whole house full of LEGO pneumatics (did anyone warn my wife about that ) ... As much as I'd want to see one, I'm doubtful I'll get to see a Lego Variable Volume pump (with a swash plate) during my lifetime. The complexity of such component, with barrel and pistons, and the bronze port plate (with kidney shaped openings) are way beyond Lego, and even if made in plastic, not sure they'll sustain the test of time (durability ought to be very poor). That said, I would definitely welcome an air pump that is a bit more efficient than the current reciprocating cylinder. Rambling a bit more: Can you imagine a VV Pump with Load-sense? i.e., that the swash plate destrokes automatically when the load gets too high? Such component, based on the one you have on your brickshelf, would be awesome to run 'air-power logic circuits' with. One can only dream. Quote

legolijntje Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Well, the LBG panels aren't that bad, we need as much as possible for Madoca's Truck Quote
Epic Technic Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) Well, the LBG panels aren't that bad, we need as much as possible for Madoca's Truck Ha LOL! I have to say the b model is nice. We don't know about the engine, I mean it might change to a 6 L, it is not even clear if it is a 4L. Edited February 1, 2015 by Epic Technic Quote
