TomKraut Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Fortrex has two Scurriers, which from a production standpoint are even more valuable than minifigs because they are a new mold. As for the other sets, they all have a decent to generous amount of minifigs if you count Squirebots, which you should from a playability viewpoint. The only set really lacking in that department is imo the Evil Mobile (as you said), especially as one can pick up Lance in a €20 set or even in the first issue of Nexo Knights Magazine. Cheers TomKraut Quote

But if you compare it to something more comparable (action sets with minions : Ninjago Possession, same price tags and similar pieces/sets), NK sets are at least 2 figs/minions short ... 100$ Fortrex 4 minifigs 3 minions vs City of Stiix 8 minifigs 1 minion. 60$ Evil Mobil 2 minifigs vs Titan Mech Battle 5 minifigs 1 minion 40$ Clay Rumble blades 2 minifigs 3 minions vs Wu Dragon 5 minifigs 1 minion 30$ King Mech, 2 minifigs 1 minion or Chaos Chariot 2 minifigs vs Chain Cycle ambush 3 minifigs 2 minions 20$ Moltor lava smasher 2 minifigs vs Cole blaster bike 2 minifigs 2 minions Yet I think the heavy equipment, the diversity and the coolness of the NK minifigs should be taken into account. TomKraut Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I was basing my thoughts on a quick scan of the Skybound inventory on S@H. You are right, last years Ninjago had more to offer concerning minifigs. I think TLG realizes the appeal of their figures more and more, and how strong their influence on the decision for or against buying a set can be. This can be seen very clearly by looking at Chima over the years: in the first year, you could get almost every figure in multiple sets. In the last year, almost every figure was an exclusive. With NK, we see this in the distribution of Axl and Jestro, which would have me up in arms if I wasn't going to buy every set anyway... Speaking of buying the sets, it seems that in Germany they will be finally generally available at normal retailers on January 15th. Let's see if I can still hold out until then or if I will cave and go to the Lego Store to pay overpriced amounts without even getting a polybag... Cheers TomKraut Quote
Rayskull Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 What I don't like about Nexo Knights so far is the amount if minifigs in the sets is lacking. Jestros Evil Mobile for example is 60$ and only has 2 minifigs and brick build monster. Usually 60$ sets have 4-5 minifigs, I just think the set could have had one other bad guy minifig and maybe a peasant to hold in Jestros prison. And Fortrex set is lacking minifigs as well, just 1 generic bad guy in flagship set! Hope in summer wave sets Lego will be more generous on minifigure amount on the sets. Yeah but the figs all have very unique parts. Very expensive figures. Quote

Lyichir Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 How difficult is it to balance Ultimate Clay without the stand? Because of the level of articulation in the "arms" with the propellors, it's not that hard at all. All you have to do is angle them slightly forward to get their center of gravity closer to the fig's own. Quote

Not sure about German, but all large Dutch toystores are saying 15th of January. For example: http://www.bartsmit....fortrex-70317-3 http://www.brickshop...17-fortrex.html Amazon.de states the 16th: http://www.amazon.de...2181514&sr=8-19 Edited January 7, 2016 by NotMegalodon Quote
TomKraut Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Amazon.de states the 16th: It is however noteworthy that this is not an Amazon listing sold by Amazon... Some retailers have had the 11th as shipping date for ages (Weltbild), others have eBay listings for the 15th, now Amazon the 16th. I think we can somewhat safely assume it's going to be next week Cheers TomKraut Quote

I personally don't count Scurriers and Squirebots. I agree with both of your comments. I think it's a function of the evolution of Lego's products and merchandising strategy in the Action theme segment. With Nexo Knights and Ninjago in particular Lego would probably say that they have gone beyond including minifigs in their sets and now include "Characters" in the sets. Those characters could be minifigs - or small "minions" - or Big-Figs - or buildable figures (i.e. Sparkks) - or a book (BofE) - or even a banner (Merlock). Perhaps this is Lego's Order of Things for Action/Adventure themes going forward? Now most of those things are not minifigs in the classic sense of the world, but all add some play/collect-ability/display value to the sets themselves. I personally don't mind that they list the Merlock banner piece or the Book of Evil at the bottom of the box. I would measure the overall value of a set based on the total sum of its parts. I would say that both of the sets that include those items (Fortrex & Evil Mobile respectively) offer good overall value. We may need to adjust our thinking to: Is the set lacking in characters vs. lacking in minifigs. I also don't like getting fewer minfigs in sets, especially at higher price points. But at least in NK's case, the figures themselves (Knights) have a huge amount of accessory pieces and are very highly detailed. I do think that the inclusion of fewer mini-figs in each set is a deliberate move on TLG's part to encourage the purchase of additional sets to collect all of the characters in the line and in some cases, the inclusion of certain characters exclusively in high-priced sets to drive sales of TLG's highest margin products. Arron has a little thruster that touches the floor. Macy is difficult to stand because her back pack touches the floor but off to the side of her. Beast Master Blatently touches the floor with his backpack. As to this minifig debate, these are much nicer minifigs than the average sets. -Elaborate Printing -Duel colored and transparent plastic new armor -New helmet base -New and various visors -Various new shooting guns/swords -Double sided faces -New shield base -New shield tile with various transparent colors and printing. There's a lot to praise here. Quality over quantity for sure. Someone at Lego faught tooth and nail to include all these extravagances I'm sure. Edited January 7, 2016 by Rayskull Quote
TomKraut Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Thinking of characters instead of minifigures makes sense to me. And I do agree that the NK minifigs are spectacular. As a side note, while the Fortrex box displays the Merlok banner as a character, the description on S@H lists only 7 minifigures (at least in Germany). Quote
ChristopheQ Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) I think TLG realizes the appeal of their figures more and more, and how strong their influence on the decision for or against buying a set can be. Very true, with the figs getting every year more awesome, they became more important than the bricks (typical of the super heroes sets)... In parallel the playability of the sets keep improving, but I feel lots of kids and teens (and adults) are to busy playing video games. They still keep buying thanks to TLG super design and marketing, but more to collect them than play. Hence all this Lego movies, Apps, video games.... With Nexo Knights and Ninjago in particular Lego would probably say that they have gone beyond including minifigs in their sets and now include "Characters" in the sets. Perhaps this is Lego's Order of Things for Action/Adventure themes going forward? Very good point, the dematerialized added value of the sets keep increasing. And it has a price. Kind of like the content of Star Wars sets is often poor in bricks or figs because Lego has to pay Disney for that. I think this phenomena really developp with Ultra Agents (figs very ridiculously scarce, but awesome) and Galaxy Squad (bugs and eggs to replace figs) Infearno interception, Drillex dimanond job : 2 minifgs 30$ Eradicator Mech, 2 minifigs 40$ Hive Crawler, 3 minifigs 70$ Ultracopter, Bug Obliterator, 4 minigs 80$ UA HQ, Galactic Titan, 5 minifigs 100$ Edited January 7, 2016 by ChristopheQ Quote

I thought it had been clear for a while that Moltor and Mouldron are different names for the same character. But yes, it is frustrating that we can't get a definitive answer on Flama's gender. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 It'd be nice if LEGO would at least explain why they can't stay consistent. For the time being, I'm going to follow x105's example and say that Flama is genderfluid. Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) It's a theory, yes, but I doubt that's LEGO's intent. Either there's an answer and they've gotten it screwed up, the company itself is fighting about it, or LEGO themselves don't know what gender Flama is supposed to be. But for now, we can assume anything until we get official word. Edited January 7, 2016 by 8BrickMario Quote
Soupperson1 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) I'm going to follow x105's example and say that Flama is genderfluid. Zobo from Friends has been referred to a he, it and she at least twice for each option. Zobo is referred to as a he is most media though, so it's likely Flama's gender just got mixed up and there's a defenite answer. Edited January 7, 2016 by Soupperson1 Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Let's not get into this discussion about flama's gender again. It honestly doesn't matter. Anyways, the latest webisode of nexo knights shows ultimate axl. I'm really curious to see if he's going to have translucent yellow pieces or translucent orange pieces in his ultimate set. I think it's translucent yellow. Quote
