lightningtiger Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Only the fire truck remains to be completed....... After the recent events the trio decided another trip to Oz was in order........#RIPTopGear..........Keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Quick written update, fire truck nearly finished and my madness is to continue as I'm planning a butchers shop, bakery and tyre/mechanical workshop to start real soon.....this is not the end for the tiger......it's only beginning ! Keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 The fire truck is complete..... Keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 If I'm able too before Thursday I might build 48x48 plate number 10.......suggestions ? Quote
Bookworm Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Your town looks great, Lightningtiger; I really like your "work-in-progress" style of updates. It's cool to see how everything evolves. Your wires and poles for electricity stood out to me – so realistic! Quote
Criga88 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 If I'm able too before Thursday I might build 48x48 plate number 10.......suggestions ? How about an area for your work vehicles LT, maybe a small workshop and electricity substation with some parking for the trucks? Also, quick question for you, do your 48x48's ever warp out of shape in transit, and do you have a way that you find works best for flattening them out again? My one for the fire station is a little worse for wear after its interstate trip. Quote
XAxles Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 The fire truck is complete..... Keep watching ! There seems to be quite a lot of overhang at the back yet little space above the cabinets... howzabout mounting the top part of the tank on top of the chests? Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Interesting fire truck. Is that how they look like in Australia? They come in white, not in red? Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 Thanks for the feedback everyone, now first I'm going to try and go for a tyre dealer if I can. Now the CFS here in South Oz here white trucks and the MFS have red ones. Keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 After Brick-a-laide I have some important and shocking news....... R.I.P. New Mannum I was sick and tired of people asking was this the real town of Mannum or not, so shortly I will have a new name and I also have the basic blessing of the wife to expand the town as long as it has a vet clinic again in it.....which it will.....oh, boy I'll be raising the bar on this one. We are looking at a short term increase of two to three structures in the next two months........and it ain't going to stop there with an overall width of 5m planned....I hope, so keep watching through out 2015 and 2016 then. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 Now I need a little help......I have short listed three names........ 1.) Hackett (a name related to myself) 2.) Mattlock (a name of an old TV show about a Victorian country town in the early 1970's) 3.) Wandin Valley (a name of the town in my wife's favourite Aussie TV show of all time A Country Practice) Which one ? Quote
Murdoch17 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I'd have to say option 3.) Wandin Valley, because your wife has supported you this far, why not take time and do a tribute to here tastes and such? Just a thought. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Thanks 'Murdoch17'. she only wants a vet clinic added......but my plans are to included perhaps up to another seven buildings maybe more. Brick-a-laide next year......the tiger strikes back and South Australia will be back in the winners circle. Keep watching......oh, it's going to be Wandin Valley now......I need to make special minifigs to go with it. Quote
LAKAbricks Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 That's really breaking news, LT. Now, we have been following New Mannum for many years. For me, probably since I joined EB (and probably also in the time of lurking...). It will be hard to get used to "Wandin Valley"... Wandin Valley, Wandin Valley, Wandin Valley... I guess you will continue with the same "concept" of town, as you have followed with New Mannum - an Australian village/small town? Quote

I guess you will continue with the same "concept" of town, as you have followed with New Mannum - an Australian village/small town? Thanks 'Iaka' for supporting good old NM. I thought and of course after Brick-a-laide I change of name would be a good idea. The TV series it comes from ran for almost ten years, two one hour long episodes a week and it was a drama with small hints of comedy to lighten the mood at times. ACP or A Country Practice was one of the first series in the world to approach the AIDS topic, it also looked at drug use, environmental issues, domestic violence, problems faced by Vietnam War veterans..........and the list goes on. The town will remain the same, but will grow and I'll add minifig characters from the series to the scenery......Cookie picking on Bob, Vicki the vet tending to a sick cat or pig, Simon the doctor and Vicki's husband driving his MG down the road and I just remembered Councillor Muldoon......sort of the Boss Hogg of Wandin Valley, but here he'll only own business in town. So starting this week I begin construction on new shops......I have already started a meat case for the butchers shop.....keep watching ! Quote
