Doc_Brown Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) Well I've been wondering what to make for my next project, as I really wanted to make a modern curvy supercar for once! And just when I was about to give up look what pops up! What can I say? I love the looks, and I wasn't really a fan of the old and really old GT, but this one I like! I'm also looking forward to building in a new style for me consisting of Black and Blue rigid and pneumatic hoses. The idea is for it to be ultra light and cheap to build using 8070 rims and tires and possible those nice Ferrari rims. I'm not sold on the back of the car tho, kinda looks like a skull with firey eyes! LOL What do you guys think? Love... HATE? Do you think they copied something? *cough R35 GTR cough* (side windows) Edited January 13, 2015 by Doc_Brown
piterx Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 the front is really cool...yeah the back looks kinda bad, if you can make it blue it's gonna look great anyway :D
dougstar Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Hey I think it would make a rocking moc. I just built you hot rod it is a real fun build. Would definitely build more of yours
Doc_Brown Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 the front is really cool...yeah the back looks kinda bad, if you can make it blue it's gonna look great anyway :D Thanks man! I will do my best. Hey I think it would make a rocking moc. I just built you hot rod it is a real fun build. Would definitely build more of yours Wow thanks very much! This would be a long term build as I'm usually building 2-4 mocs at a time.
Balrog Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Very ambitious. I like the back. That will be a big challenge to sculpt. Good luck!
TheItalianBrick Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) Funny how (not in the case of this car as I work for another car maker) we try to replicate real cars using LEGO, where my real job is to design real cars! I'm a real car designer....but I've never tried to make one of the cars I've designed! I should give it a try! Can't wait to see your resault..it will be amazing as usual!! You so should make a car you have designed!!!! That would be ultimate. Also what do you guys think of being a V6???? MUCH easier to fit in a model, but kinda weird for a top shelf Ford yeah? This is some stupid animation ^ LOL Also this........
TheItalianBrick Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I know..but I've always preferred trucks and heavy machinery...so I only build them! But ok..I'll try with a car! Actually I have an idea....I'll design a vehicle as If I was doing my normal job.....so sketches....renders......and then I'll make a lego version of it!!
Jim Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I'm a real car designer.... You just went up a couple of notches on my ladder What do you guys think? Love... HATE? Do you think they copied something? *cough R35 GTR cough* (side windows) Love it. Even though it's a mixture of design elements from other super cars.
Sariel Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) I'm not thrilled with it. The front end kinda looks like McLaren wannabe to me. Edited January 13, 2015 by Sariel
Jim Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I'm not thrilled with it. The front end kinda looks like McLaren wannabe to me. McLaren was indeed what popped into my mind.
Lucio Switch Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Also what do you guys think of being a V6???? MUCH easier to fit in a model, but kinda weird for a top shelf Ford yeah? There is one think that I love on american muscle cars, the sound of a V8. So I don't like it too much, but It will not be my problem.
Epic Technic Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 There is one think that I love on american muscle cars, the sound of a V8. So I don't like it too much, but It will not be my problem. Well I consider the Ford GT as the only american supercar so the V6 is okay for me.
Doc_Brown Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 Yeah I can see a McLaren 12C, and I also see a Modena 360!!! But lets face it, Modern supercars are just curves designed to cut though the air as best as possible, so there will be some design over-lapse. hehe I know..but I've always preferred trucks and heavy machinery...so I only build them! But ok..I'll try with a car! Actually I have an idea....I'll design a vehicle as If I was doing my normal job.....so sketches....renders......and then I'll make a lego version of it!! I'm really looking forward to this! Outstanding. Make a WIP please.
Anio Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 This new look lacks the US spirit IMO. It is too futuristic for a car that consider as a descendant of the famous GT40. I prefer the "regular" Ford GT.
Doc_Brown Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 The V6 is appealing to a modelling perspective, I know its only saving 2 studs, but sometimes that can make all the difference.
Sariel Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 But lets face it, Modern supercars are just curves designed to cut though the air as best as possible, so there will be some design over-lapse. hehe Still, take Aventador and it makes its curves look like nothing else in the world (IMHO).
Doc_Brown Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 Thanks for the feedback guys! Jim how do I make a voting pole? Love, Hate, okish.
Jim Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Thanks for the feedback guys! Jim how do I make a voting pole? Love, Hate, okish. Done! Now that we have the okay-ish option, I'm not choosing Love it anymore. Too much copycat and not enough GT40.
Doc_Brown Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 Done! Now that we have the okay-ish option, I'm not choosing Love it anymore. Too much copycat and not enough GT40. Thanks Jim! That's awesome, I'm curious to know what people think now, as it is a bit of a copycat in many areas. Cheers.
Jim Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I have moved the OT discussion to the pub: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=101400&st=25 (sorry Seasider, your actual answer got split too)
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 The front of the ford looks like a Mclaren and the back looks like a Ferrari.
Lucio Switch Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Thanks Jim! That's awesome, I'm curious to know what people think now, as it is a bit of a copycat in many areas. Cheers. Mhh...like the rear that reminds me a Ferrari F12 TRS?
zweihander Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 The roof-to-rear-pillars remind me of Ferrari 599 (a very exaggerated version). I think I like it. It is a modern supercar and looks good, but it shouldn't be named GT in my opinion. Now it feels like they are trying to milk the legend. As for the MOC, I believe you'll nail it! Can't wait to see your interpretation.
Lucio Switch Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Still, take Aventador and it makes its curves look like nothing else in the world (IMHO). That's true, but it's a revisitation of the design started by the Countach (not a bad thing)...VW style!
