maiq the liar Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 (edited) Now, i'm putting this bluntly-- I need city/train layout Planning software, And LOCO is becoming inadequate. any suggestions? Edited July 13, 2007 by maiq the liar Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 http://www.ngltc.org/train_depot/td.htm It's primarily for planning train layouts, but it allows you to place baseplates and a few common sets, and you can add your own custom items, so it's perfectly good for city planning. Quote
Landlubber Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Yep, track designer is very easy to use, with very few bugs(if any). It doesn't crash your computer and if you search around there are other renderings for common ses that can be added to the registry. Found it. Heres the link to the updated registry. Landlubber Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Dunno. It's a pretty simple program. Don't the current Macs have capabilities for running some PC programs? Quote
tedbeard Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Dunno. It's a pretty simple program. Don't the current Macs have capabilities for running some PC programs? They can have a version of Windows installed but since I'm not yet willing to pay for a copy of Windows and run it just to use this I'm SOL. As a W95 program perhaps it's time somebody (obviously not me since I'm not a programmer) updated this perhaps to run as a web-based app or something like LDD which grabs updated parts lists automatically. I know last year for NWBrickCon Brendan used a different program to organize the Castle layout. It seems to me that a layout program with baseplates, track and some basic elements like trees/bushes/plates/1xX bricks would be fantastically useful. I've been trying to do a layout for our upcoming train show but I have to copy images, manipulate them in photoshop and string them together in a table to achieve a basic layout. Quote
Landlubber Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 The best thing about track designer is that it doesn't update anything automatically. It doesn't rely on any other program or hidden files, just runs from its own folder. Thats why its so bulletproof. I'm very anti- autoupdates. Just bought a new Laptop with Windows Vista as standard. A guy at work bought one too and theres been crashes galore on both. Neither laptop has ANY programs installed except what was preinstalled. They've been setup purely to browse the net wirelessly. As Eric Cartman wold say, Vista sucks a$$. Quote
