Morgan19 Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Up next, another UMC creation. This MOC started out as a simple pencil sketch with the general "chunky underside" shape. Given that the massive caverns being mined under Mars wouldn't be conducive to wheeled or tracked vehicles, the UMC tasked Olympica Engineering Systems (OES) to research and develop a functional antigravity drive and a personal transport vehicle for its miners. Being the first generation of the AG drive, I figured it would be very large in comparison to the vehicle it was attached to: thus, the big protruding shape under the transport. Ultimately, I had four main goals when building this time: 1) Create a MOC with clearly & strictly defined areas of color (red, light bley, black)2) Create an airspeeder-like vehicle with an open cockpit3) Create something with a "smooth top/mechanical underside" shape4) Be swooshable ;) (As a sidenote, I realized after I'd finished that this is also my first nearly-studless MOC: I think there are something like eight visible studs total.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OES "Type-G1 Bukai" Mining Transport - Main Brickshelf gallery - Schematics - Deeplinks: 3/4 Front | Side | 3/4 Rear | Underside | Antigrav close-up | Cockpit | Crew | Assembly ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As always, I'd love to hear any comments, questions, suggestions, and critiques. Thanks, m19 Quote
Brainbox Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 (As a sidenote, I realized after I'd finished that this is also my first nearly-studless MOC: I think there are something like eight visible studs total.) 12 if you count the ones on the sides (on the arch-things) ;-) . This is very nice. Another great addition to your back-story, but it'd still work without. The overall design is simple as it probably would be for a utilitarian mining vehicle, but it isn't ugly. Does the storage comartment open? If so, what's it's capacity? Quote
Asuka Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Beautiful, with a good color scheme and very interesting technical specifications and details like that antigravity field generator. Pure greebling gold, decent shape. Just great! *y* Quote
Morgan19 Posted July 8, 2007 Author Posted July 8, 2007 Thanks for the comments! Does the storage comartment open? If so, what's it's capacity? No, unfortunately: it's a sticker on the red slope pieces. m19 Quote
