Richard Dower Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Reason i ask is most Rcers sets contain almost all Technic pieces, and many of the bigger sets are consider unofficial "official" Technic sets, just based in their parts and awesomeness! I have been collecting alot of BNIB Racers sets and was thinking about doing reviews etc. ? Quote
Balrog Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 While I don't think that "Racers" in general qualify as Model Team, these should be discussed in the "Special Themes" subforum. Specific sets like 8145, 8146, 8167, 8386, 8461, 8649, 8653, 8674, 8682 and those that would in theory qualify as Technic (some slammers, motorcycle things, RCs) could be discussed here to reach the correct audience. But that is just my opinion. The mods will have the last word on that. Quote
Richard Dower Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Well i personally think 8140 and 8141 certainly qualify, both have unique Technic panels and other parts. Balrog Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 You are right, they could be counted as Technic. At least I think so. But my list was not that restrictive anyway Quote
Blakbird Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I don't think you are going to get too many complaints if you try to talk about Racers, but you also might not get as many replies as you like. I think it depends on the context of the discussion. There are plenty of Racers sets that are made mostly of Technic parts, and there are plenty of Racers parts (like the R/C motor) that get used in Technic MOCs. Quote
Jim Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 There are Racers and Racers If it's mostly technic you are fine discussing it here. The Ferrari 599 is technically (pun intended) also a racer! http://brickset.com/sets/8145-1 Can you post a list of sets you'd like to review? Quote
Blakbird Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 For me personally, these are the Racers sets that I consider Technic (and which will be included on Technicopedia), but many others use Technic parts to some degree. 8145 Ferrari 599 8146 Nitro Muscle 8386 Ferrari F1 Racer 1:10 8461 Williams F1 Racer 8649 Nitro Menace 8653 Enzo Ferrari 8674 Ferrari F1 Racer 1:8 8682 Nitro Intimidator Edit: $%^! I just realized that I didn't put these on the list of LDraw files I need. Quote
SheepEater Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) I also consider 8475 and 8366 (the two gray RC cars) to be Technic 8366 is especially good, In fact, IMHO 8366 is tied with 8455 as the top technic set of 2003, but is almost never mentioned. aol000xw Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Yet 8674 which at first sight was another Silver Champion recoloring was racers... Racers isn't a theme itself IMHO, some sets look like City, others Model Team and some Technic, but it was very convenient with their Ferrari license. Quote
grum64 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 8458 Silver Champion was Technic You are indeed correct. I remembered as soon as I read your post. I also remembered I've yet to build mine to complete my F1 trio and that I'm still awaiting the new Williams sticker sheet. I need to chase that up. Thanks for the reminder Quote
N-4K0 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 What about counting as Technic those models where more than 50% of the parts are Technic parts? 51 - 100 % ? Or 75 - 100 %. Quote
