DC Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion

Hm, maybe there hasn't been a kid friendly version of Mad Hatter in a long time. He wasn't in The Batman cartoon and (from a Google search) it seems like he only cameod in the Brave and the Bold, not that I think a lot of kids are still watching those shows. Ironically kids might be most likely to know Hatter from the Lego Batman games. Granted, I don't know where kids would be introduced to Batwoman and Batwing either aside from Lego, but hey, I'm not going to complain about more obscure characters getting into sets. (As much as I would have really liked Mad Hatter or Cassandra Cain here!) Maybe DC needs to do more with the hat-thief interpretation of Mad Hatter who wants to steal Batman's cowl for his collection. It's a really ridiculous premise for a villain but I think it's fun. I do get kind of tired of every villain being as dark and edgy as Joker from The Killing Joke. edit: But then again, it is hard to justify not making Mad Hatter when it's not as if the pdf file versions are the only versions or that the character has a reputation for that like Deadpool does for being crass. He was one of the few comic villains who was on Batman 66. Meanwhile, Tarantula and March Harriet made it into The Lego Batman Movie, with Lego Joker winking at the audience that the cameo villains are "Probably worth a Google." Thankfully Hatter isn't too hard to make a purist custom of. There are big top hats in a number of colors, Peter Pettigrew faces work really well, and then there are plenty of options for quirky or shabby suit jackets. I use a red bow tie neck attachment and Jiminy Cricket's collar for mine, and I think he looks pretty good. There are a lot of buildings from Gotham and the larger DCU which can be made as modulars in the future, and I like the suggestion that Lego could slip some long desired characters into those like they did with Daredevil and Blade. (But there are a lot of things they could do and don't.) I don't know if it's on the top of any list to be made soon, but the Iceberg Lounge would be a great choice. It's a fun and stylish location which would fit better into a modular city than a mental asylum or a secret mutant school. -

I'm guessing there is no GWP since info about those usually leaks when info about the set they are paired with does and I don't remember hearing anything.... I think most of the Marvel modulars have had GWPs though, at least the last two have, so it would be a little surprising to get nothing, even if it's just a generic inmate or security guard with a bat signal or something. -

Hi-res images, hot off the press. The 2025 LEGO 76300 Arkham Asylum set is a modular-compatible building! - Jay's Brick Blog Not a whole lot to the interior unfortunately. Most of it is taken up by the cells, as I predicted, but it doesn't look like there is much in the way of references in them, aside from Ivy having a few plants. The only other two rooms seem to be the security room Joker enters through and the one where Harley and Scarecrow are hanging out. We can't see all of them, but the security room at least looks quite nice. The play features seem well integrated. That "not a revolving door!" sticker is pretty funny. -

If I remember right the official reveal usually coincides with the floor opening at SDCC because the day before SDCC officially opens (which happens to be today) is press day/preview night. Usually a press release goes around for publication just in time for people to see the set on the floor at Lego's SDCC setup (that's probably where the leak with the lifestyle photos is from). So hopefully we get more photos today, but if not probably tomorrow. I did quickly scope out some articles from previous years. It looks like last year Jedi Bob's Starfighter had its official reveal the first day of SDCC, but there were pictures taken from the preview the night before. But in 2022 the Avatar sets were officially revealed the night before SDCC. So again, hopefully we get something tonight even if not the official reveal. edit: wait, Brickset worded their article a little funny. Jedi Bob's starfighter did have its official reveal the day before SDCC (at least in the US) but it looks like it was pretty late. -

Well, I guess that makes some sense, since most of the Batman sets of the last five years have been movie based, so that's how you feature the most recent products. I'm skeptical though. It seems like there should be other properties which are more relevant/unified than "Batman movies" for a new TT game, not to mention that it sounds like a step down from Lego Batman 2-3 and DC Super Villains. Plus, there won't be a lot of sets on shelves to cross-promote the game if it does release in 2026.... But hey. Strange things happen all the time. A Batman 66 or Batman and Robin campaign crossing over with villains from The Dark Knight trilogy in free play sounds like it could be fun. -

Yep, I just saw that. Stickers aren't always hints to a future set of course, but it's a good indication. -

I kind of have mixed feelings about the Arkham set. I was hoping it would be a bit taller. The building looks kind of compact in order to fit the baseplate whereas the older sets, while they might have been facades, didn't feel cramped. It doesn't really seem to have the architectural features of the older sets that I liked either. The whole thing feels kind of clean without very many striking gothic elements and mostly just using simple slopes for the roof, whereas each of the previous three Arkham sets did something more unique. But it still looks pretty good. I like how the corner gives it a bit of an enclosed courtyard. I look forward to seeing a fuller reveal with the interior. Based on all of the bars I'm expecting that it's going to be very focused on prison cells, and while I'd like a more varied interior like the TLBM version had, this could be a great opportunity to get lots of fun references to the different villains. We already see a bit of that, with the old penguin bots returning the tile Catwoman is holding which looks to be a picture of her cats. I've been tweaking the 2013 Asylum (10937) for 12 years now, and I actually removed the prison cells from that with the intention of building a separate building someday, but maybe this will fit the bill. The 2013 set probably is the most different from this one visually (not counting the 4+ one) but, hey, modding is the fun of Lego. The minifigures generally look pretty good. Ivy is the easy standout. Her minifigures have always been fine, except the TLBM version which was a standout for that theme, but this is the sort of version I think a lot of us have been wanting forever. I like Robin and Riddler too. I'm not thrilled about the jumpsuits, but I have been collecting long enough that I have most of the old versions of all these characters anyway. Croc's head should look good on AoU polybag Hulk's torso or maybe FFH LIzard's. I do wish Batwoman had something to distinguish her a bit more from the last version than the cape. Boots would have been nice. Even if she is pretty good, it's hard not to see Catwoman as inferior to the version from the Batcave a few years ago. The BP ears just don't cut it. I'd rather have Scarecrow, Bane, or Croc in a full costume than the Batwoman/Catwoman here. Or Two-Face. Ah well. I'll take what we can get--I'm genuinely very glad that Batwoman and Catwoman are here over the 4+ Batgirl, and that there are 16 minifigures with the statue. Even with the two guards and so many jumpsuits, that's still very good for modern day Lego, especially DC. But I totally get why someone who hasn't been able to collect since 2012 would be disappointed with only being able to get these characters in jumpsuits, or inferior versions of Mr. Freeze and Catwoman, or Batwing with an inaccurate head. I hope there is truth to the Daily Planet rumor. I've been waiting for a DP set since 2012. I know LMCG is pretty reliable, but I do wonder if that's just a false flag or a bit of speculation based on buzz for the Superman movie.... -

The mini-doll arms are really skinny and Cruella's coat has small holes to accommodate that. It seems more likely that a cloth coat for minifigures might become an official thing in the future now that they have done it for mini-dolls, but I do wonder if the reason they have now done it for a mini-doll but never minifigures is because minifigure arms lay flush against the torso whereas minidoll arms don't, so it won't get caught and drag under a doll's arm in the same way that it would a minifigure's. (I just noticed that the coat in the dress set has a furry texture on one side too.) I -

I'm not expecting any new minifigure characters. These two sets don't sound too promising. My biggest hope is that part of the budget for new molds is going to the introduction of a new Chao piece. But I think the introduction of these two pieces might mean an Orbot in the same style as Cubot could finally be done justice. Maybe he'll be in the Eggman set. I guess it's also possible Cream appears in the truck. She's the only character beyond Tails/Knuckles/Amy I really think you could squint and say has ever been a member of Team Sonic, even if that was like 20 years ago. :P But that set probably has Sonic, Tails, and Amy, maybe with the latter finally getting a variant of some kind. And who knows, there could be a surprise villain character there too. Though it's hard to imagine who/what that would be if they aren't important enough to be mentioned in the set name. Another potential piece which might be preventing new characters would be a new set of tails to depict Tails flying. But it's also possible that after the first two years the mold budget has simply decreased, and so Metal Sonic was the only new character they could create with what they had. It's hard to complain too much. I never really expected Rouge, Metal Sonic, Super Shadow, the Cyclone, or Biolizard. Everything else this theme gets is gravy at this point, imo. Edit: Also for what it's worth, Big is pretty much at the top of my wishlist for minifigure characters right now. He's been around for a long time, and even if his first appearance wasn't that great, I think it's fun to see him when he shows up. I think he's appeared in recent games and other media more frequently than Cream, the Chaotix, and the Babylon Rogues. Molding would be expensive, but at least the first two years of this theme had a pretty generous budget for minifigure pieces it seems. -

I don't really want a Shumacher Batcave, but if it has the turntable that's a plus. I really liked that feature in the old 2006 Batcave. And then an Uma Thurman Poison Ivy might be nice to have. That movie's version of Bane would also look pretty good as a minifigure. I do find it kind of hard to believe this rumor, however. A playscale Burton Batave or 66 Batcave? Sure. Versions from the Nolan or Reeves films or BTAS? Alright. But Batman and Robin of all things? The movie has its appreciators (I'm one of them) but it's not particularly beloved or well-remembered compared to any other version.... Batman Forever is a little more believable, but I don't find that too exciting. It would mean a somewhat more traditional Robin minifigure, at least. But honestly a turntable for the Batmobile would still be the biggest draw for me. :P -

I don't think Big would need to be much larger than Eggman. I'm not sure how big they are supposed to be relative to each other, but Lego's scale for minifigures is already wonky. -

Sorry to be that guy, but mini-dolls use minifigure hair way more often than minifigures use doll hair. That's been common practice since the beginning of the Friends theme (most men and boys had reused minifig hair) and it just became common over time. Minifigures using doll hair only started to become common in 2023 when Friends did away with rubber hairpieces. But yes, they are completely interchangeable. And the last few years Lego has made an effort to bring their designs more aligned with each other. Now the only major difference most of the time is that mini-doll hair has pinholes on the top. The mini-doll space helmets, however, do not fit minifigures.
