Hi everyone,

Just for the fun, I wish to know how many trains you have?

As I'm new, I started last month a train collection, and I already own 8 PF trains. That is all 4 current trains in double.

I've been in to trains since April (2011)...

I currently own 15 Trains!

The duplicates are: 3 Maersk, 2 CITY Cargo & 2 CITY Passenger.

Singles are: Emerald Night, RC Cargo Train Deluxe, LEGO Express Deluxe, SF Super Chief, BNSF, Metroliner, High Speed Train and the Hobby Train Box.

A simple question for a complex answer  
I own the following items:
5 trains (3 standard set and 2 MOC locomotives) from the 4,5 volts era
10 trains from the 12 volts era (the best era of ever   )
3 RC trains (2 standard set and 1 MOC steam locomotive)
2 PF trains (1 standard set and 1 MOC steam locomotive under construction   )

Ha!  Now I don't feel so irresponsible!  I started in February and own two trains

It would probably be more but I prefer Steam Engines.  I plan on getting the current Cargo next but after that it will likely be a Steam MOC.  Looking for a good one that hasn't been done yet.

I have other cars, like two intermodal sets and a couple of the old MOT cars; I actually haven't been buying much lately - several Emerald Nights over the past couple of years, but only one Maersk so far.  I'm not enamored with the sets lately.

In addition, although you may not count these, I have gotten the latest Hogwart's Express and the TS3 Train (which I PF motorized).

The only trains I own are
171 - Train set without motor
182 - Train set with motor
      They had very imaginative names for trains in the 70's

I've got eighteen locomotives. I counted the Metroliner as one locomotive, of course.

Edit: Nineteen if I add the Hobby Train Set and regard it as one locomotive... plus another engine - TWENTY in this case - that I built from instructions I had found on brickshelf.com.

I've only recently got back into Lego over the past year, having dug out my childhood collection from the loft and falling in love with it again. One of the old sets was 4559 Cargo Railway and from the moment I rebuilt that I decided I had to get into Lego trains. Through a combination of eBay, Bricklink and S@H I now own:

Next on my list is another Emerald Night and another Maersk Train   . I'm also after the Santa Fe and BNSF locomotives but I'm refusing to pay silly prices...as you can probably guess I haven't had much luck there so far!

you can check mine too in the signature. then you have to add my moc/mod: one small shunter, two maersk style, one santa fe style and one small steam, plus one more maersk I'm planning to buy.
keep in mind I collect them since the blue era and mainly from 12v period.
I missed all the 9v sets when they were on shelves, but I have been able to catch the misb sfsc and the bnsf locos!
edit: oops, I forgot the hogwart express!

Hmmm,

great that so many folks have that many trains. Lets have even more fun:

How many MOCs do you own? Buying trains from TLC is one thing. Creating them is another. Run down Sava's list - if you'd ask me: The MOCs count x10. At least.

Running them (and then: At the same time ...) is another very fun thing. So with 20 at hand: Do you run them?

Controlling them (go speed 3 and the machine goes speed 3, regardless of external "challenges") is another fun thing.

Oh well, don't count them, give them a LEGO touch ...

But once again, I am very impressed with the numbers. Congrats to all and have fun with all these beauties!!!

Let me answer your very interesting question with what I wrote in the Train Tech Registry thread when I introduced myself:

Anyway, my train collection now contains:

- the aforementioned triple-wagon Emerald Night
- two Super Chiefs with 3x10022 and 2x10025
- a BNSF with 2x10170
- a small brown My Own Train steam engine, pulling four different-coloured versions of 10015 (green, blue, red, and black)
- a big dark grey My Own Train steam engine, pulling 10013, 10014, 10016, and 10017
- the green Brick Express GWR 5101, pulling three Blokbricks beverage wagons (red, green, and blue)
- a 10183 Hobby Train
- a 10173 Holiday Train
- and right before Christmas, I found the 7939 Cargo Train on sale. That became my first motorized train.

I've never really been interested in trains as such, though, so in this case it's a matter of Lego interest leading to interest in trains. Therefore, I haven't yet felt like MOC'ing trains. I have, however, used some custom instructions I have found here and there. So, I've added these to the collection:

- LGauge's EMD SD40-2 Diesel, external pic here
- Anthony Sava's Ten Wheeler 4-6-0, pic of the creator's original here
- Anthony Sava's amazing Hudson 4-6-4 Streamliner, complete with tender and five coaches. Looks really great - here's Mr. Sava's own rendering of the magnificent build.

Now, that was six months ago. Since then, the collection has grown to include the Maersk train and the Lime Light, my recoloured version of the Emerald Night.

And when my latest BrickLink order is delivered in a few days, I'll build a caboose for the EN, and Mr Sava's superb Polar Express train, complete with four wagons.

Then the total number, I believe, will be 18...
