robinnilsson403 Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 (edited) Previous post: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=119634 After examining the statue, Lan and the bodyguard slowly moved inland. The island seemed to be very flat, but going up a small hill they heard a noise. It sounded like some kind of throat singing. "Stop." Lan quietly said. "I think we are not alone." "I think it's coming from the other side of the crest." the guard replied. "You stay here. I will go up and see what it's all about. If I come running, you run too." "But what if they see you? Perhaps they... Eat people..." "I'll hide behind this." Lan said and cut off a branch full of leafs. Sneaking towards the crest, the noise got louder. Lan realised he would be on top of a cliff. Looking down, he saw them! They were dancing around some kind of bush Lan hadn't seen before. The yellow flowers seem to drag him towards them. The spell was broken when Lan saw what was laying under the bush. A skull. Definitely they would try to eat him if he was seen. He backed away, and after a few meters he turned and walked down to the guard. "Let's go! But quiet mind. We need to be out of here!" Had Lan only stayed for a few more minutes he had seen the natives sacrifice their dead to the plant. I know the quality of the photos, and the background, ain't that great. I photographed this at the same time as the last build I posted, so hopefully the next one will have some better photos. A few more pictures can be found in the album. https://flic.kr/s/aHsksC9VbD Feedback is appreciated. Edited January 24, 2016 by robinnilsson403 Quote
TitusV Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Great vegetation! The second image is the best! Nice overall build, but the downside seems a bit bare... Quote
Bregir Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Cool entry, Robin. I like the dancing natives, and your storytelling with those "point of view" photos works really well. As you say yourself, the lightning isn't perfect, but it works reasonably well. I agree, there could be a few more details on the ground below. Quote

Captain Genaro Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I'm particularly fond of the tree and the bush. Both are well-executed, and I like the leaves/vines growing along the trunk of the tree. The rock work is also nice, and I think the dark and light grays work well for representing different layers of rock. As for the base, I feel that stacking brown plates could add some variation to the ground. Quote
Khorne Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Lovely build! The concept is nice with your character being on the cliff and spying on the natives. Personally I'm not a fan of the green leaves on the trunk of the tree. I I think it's would've been better to leave the trunk bare, but each has their own likings . Like some other folk here said, adding some brown plates, or maybe even green ones, to add some elevation to the ground floor where the natives are dancing might make things more interesting there. But overall, this is a really nice MOC . For Oleon! Quote
Vedauwoo Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 The posing of the natives is brilliant...I can almost see them hopping up and down, cartoon-like, as they move! lol Quote
Captain Dee Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 This is a neat idea. The base is a little dull but the rocks and vegetation atop the cliff are nice. I think a bare trunk would look better on the tree unless those leaves are supposed to be vines. The minifig posing is really good on both levels and the photos capture the action well. Good work. robinnilsson403 Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016 First off, sorry for not responding earlier. I find myself lacking time to write, but I do read. There is a reason that the ground is so bare, that no one has commented on yet: There is a cave, but it looks just black on the pictures. The idea was that the natives lived there, and as you may know, if you walk over and over again (or dance!) the grass will die, and it will be just mud. I'll try to make it more clear next time, and add more details. The posing of the natives is brilliant...I can almost see them hopping up and down, cartoon-like, as they move! lol Thanks! I do wonder if they will return...? I do have two ideas for future builds, hopefully I will start with them soon. Quote
