Captain Genaro Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) “He will surly jeopardize his life and his career in the navy if he insists on behaving in the most haphazardly fashion in battle,” an admiral wrote of Captain Anthony Genaro. Nonetheless, where some see haphazard peril, Genaro’s men see undaunted strength. For when the battle seems lost, when a superior foe bears down, intending to board, the men look up and see their captain. Standing on the rail, one hand grasping the rigging, the other a sword, Captain Genaro is a sight to rally even the most dismayed crew. Hearts fill with hope and men stand unwavering, refusing to yield an inch, when they see their captain in all his glory. For my character introduction, I wanted to have a small showing Captain Genaro and his men preparing to repel boarders. It did not turn out quite as I had hoped, but, minus the backdrop, I'm fairly pleased with the results. Comments and criticism are most welcome. Captain Genaro Introduction by Capt. TitusV Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Well, IT does look quite well to me! I really like that you ship has an interior Quote
Pimbo Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I love the tumblehome and the colorscheme, but it seems to me she's riding rather low. Maybe it's just too hard to visualize the size of this ship. Or, did the pirates perhaps manage to take a successful shot below her waterline? Quote
Bregir Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Welcome captain! Nice intro and interesting character - I shall be looking forward to seeing I'd that legendary courage is more than just a legend! Nice intro build, although I must agree it seems like hours shop is riding very low in the water! Is she sinking? :O Quote
blackdeathgr Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Nice little build :) One question just out of curiosity: How many round plates are there in the photo? Quote
Captain Dee Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 That's a very nice intro. The overall design is good - copy it many times over and you'd have the makings of a superb vessel - and I like that colorscheme. However, I also think the gunports are a bit low and would take in water on rough seas; raising them by a full brick (or more) would look better. I like the damage to the one gunport and the wreckage floating around looks fine with that water technique. The second pic shows really good posing, especially your sigfig - it matches the story perfectly. Good work. Quote
Captain Genaro Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) Thank you all for taking the time to comment on my build. To address one common point, I completely agree that the ship is far too low in the water. I'll have to remember that for future builds. Nice little build :) One question just out of curiosity: How many round plates are there in the photo? All that I have. Not sure about the actual number, but it does fill half a PAB cup. It might be a while before I get the chance to build a proper frigate, but I'm glad you think it would work. Edited January 10, 2016 by Captain Genaro Quote
kabel Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 That last picture really does the job! Great intro Capt.G! Quote
Gideon Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Great intro! This is an excellent example of how its often better to build a cutaway vignette in "true" minifig scale (most epic builds are still not really in true minifig scale). The last picture is very good, and I can imagine how believable it would have looked if the ship's side would have been twice as long and filled the frame Quote
