Trainmaster247 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) An overall shot Close Ups A city scene James River Crossing Metra Train BNSF Freight TGV and one I found an image of that I recreated here. Edited October 9, 2015 by WhiteFang Title update Quote
zephyr1934 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Oh wow, these are fantastic. Great work! My favorites are the Metra and Super Chief, but my preference is strictly based on my interest in the prototypes. Your builds did a great job capturing all of the details in the various prototypes. Trainmaster247 Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Thanks I had a lot of fun with them. Quote
wylan_1994 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Great trains trains and details! I have been wondering if i should make a microscale city now for a long time. Quote
Hod Carrier Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Woo!! 1-wide. I do like that very much. Quote
Trainmaster247 Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 Thanks as I always I have a lot of fun with this kind of stuff. Quote
Feuer Zug Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Very cool and iconic. I recognized every one immediately. Quote
Man with a hat Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 great. So simple, yet so fascinating. And you can easily make a "huge" layout. Quote
Lego Dino 500 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I love your take on all these 1 wide train MOCs. Just a few tips, but if you put the silver grill piece with a 1x2 plate staggered half off it, you can link them together to make curved track like this. And you can also make it look a tiny bit less grainier by replacing the catenary lines with some colored fishing line. But other than that, I'd love to see more microscale trains, it's a hardly explored subject as far as Lego goes. Quote
Trainmaster247 Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 The string was all I had on hand at the time but it gives the idea. I will try that curve idea in the future! Quote
dr_spock Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Nice. LEGO flex tubes and bars can also work for catenary. Not quite to scale but it is LEGO. Quote
Hod Carrier Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I'll be honest and say that, at this scale, modelling the wires probably isn't necessary. Although it's still sitting on my computer, I have no plans to add anything more substantial than the structures themselves to my own 1-wide Dutch diorama. However, if you choose to add wires, you probably don't want to use anything heavier than cotton thread. Quote

But other than that, I'd love to see more microscale trains, it's a hardly explored subject as far as Lego goes. Here is some exploration with the curves thanks for the idea. This is a set of 4 modules, now all I have to do is design some trains. I will have some more images later (they are having upload problems) Quote
Lego Dino 500 Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 That looks really good. It adds a nice depth to it you wouldn't get from a simple straight line. Also, the brick tolerances are enough to make curves using staggered grill plates and 1x2 plates. Sorry about the image size, it's the only one large enough to really show the technique. Quote
Trainmaster247 Posted September 20, 2015 Author Posted September 20, 2015 Will have to try that version (thanks for the image) Quote
Trainmaster247 Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 Some new trains, no hints who can identify them correctly first? Quote
Trainmaster247 Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 Yep got that one right, I wanted to do something different yet recognizable. I also tried turning to a random page in this book: Quote
xboxtravis7992 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Big Boy locomotive? British Deltic? BNSF Green Goat Switcher? There are my guesses.. Quote
Trainmaster247 Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 All but the Big Boy it is really a FEF (4-8-4) just a few less wheels Quote
xboxtravis7992 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Yeah I just counted the wheels, that is an FEF allright. Quote
Trainmaster247 Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 Thanks! Now I just need to build some trains for it... Any ideas on what anyone would want to see me try??? Quote
