Fresh off of my build of the Scoripion Pyramid a couple of weeks ago and in a continuing effort to reduce my backlog of "sets in the closet" I decided to build another set this week. It was between a modular (yeah, I have several "in the closet") and a Creator house (got a couple of those as well). I didn't want to commit to a modular as for me that's an 8 to 10 hour build, not ready for that right now. After looking at what was available, again considering size and colors I decided on the 6754 Family Home. It was really a fun build and as usual I learned a few things (Creator sets really seem to teach me). I spread the build over three days (Mon, Tues, and today, Wed). I really like the result and it will be hard to consider parting it out, but part it out I will (at some point). Though I may consider one of he altenate builds (the Mediterranean House) before putting the parts in inventory. I noticed something very unusual... There are a large number of extra parts. There is the usual assortment of 1x parts but it seems like more than usual, maybe a couple of dozen. It is the other parts that surprise me... In tan there are... 6 - 2x12 bricks 1 - 2x3 bricks 1 - 1x2 brick 1 - 1x3 brick 1 - 1x6 brick 1 - 1x1x6 brick In a dark grey 1 - 2x6 brick 1 - 2x6 white plate And a light grey 1x2 slope Seems like a large number of extras, the only thing I can think of is that they are required in one of the alternate builds. But I thought LEGO usually uses fewer parts in the alternte builds. Is this normal for this set? Andy D
