I think DaveE makes an excellent point - if any of my Facebook friends didn't know I was an AFOL, they certainly do now that I've bombarded their walls with pleas for CUUSOO votes. I'm telling anyone who will listen about my project and that can't be a bad thing for Lego. I agree with what most everyone has already said in regards to problems with CUUSOO, but I think a lot of the problem has to due with a certain apathy and even bitterness in the AFOL community toward it. We are the experts - we are the Lego critics. We see a model and we may not support it because we could do a better job ourselves, or its too similar to something Lego has done before, or its something we know from experience Lego wouldn't do. We have a lot of extra information informing our votes that the average person doesn't. Compare that to someone who was logging into EVE online, saw the EVE ship, and thought "Cool, I played with Lego when I was a kid - this looks neat," and lends their support. They don't really care if there are new parts used, impressive techniques, or similar ships already available. As long as they recognize the model as something else they like, it's good! So what do we want out of CUUSOO and how do we get it? Mb_Bricks's Modular Western Town was our shining example. The AFOL community came together and supported the model. All the major sites called out for supporters and it got there, but it still took months to do it, much longer than most of the licensed ideas that have made it to 10,000. What this shows me is that if we (as AFOLs) want something to make it through CUUSOO we need some leadership and some clear direction. Don't get me wrong, many of the licensed ideas I voted for too (I'm a sucker for Zelda), but what I'm most interested in are good old yellow minifigure inhabited pure Lego sets that we haven't seen before. Set's like the Western Town (We've seen western before, but it oh-so-badly needed an update). Who supports these types of projects - projects that are pure Lego with no other brands attached - we do, or at least we have to if we ever want to see them. If I want supporters for my Medusa's Temple (shameless plug) I have to rely on you guys. Greek mythology isn't something that people are frequently and repeatedly scouring the Internet for. No mythology forum on the Internet is going to get me to 10,000 supporters. Where else are others like Bobsy's Medieval Theater, or DeTomaso's Birds, or any of the brilliant new part ideas, going to get their supporters if not from us? After the Western Town achieved 10,000, CUUSOO largely disappeared from the AFOL community. Nothing really shows up on the Eurobricks frontpage. Brickset tried a CUUSOO corner which showed Huw's 10 favorite projects, but it soon disappeared after he was flooded with people asking for their model to be included. Have we given up? It seems like it. Are we waiting to see how the Western Town actually turns out? Maybe. We need leadership again. We need some of the higher ups in the Lego community to tell us who to vote for. It probably won't be my model, but I'd be happy just to see something from "us" and for "us" - the AFOLs. If any of the Eurobricks staff is reading this, please, show us the way!

Hi all, I know that quite a few of you would love to see Lego do a real Greek mythology set (especially myself). I started this CUUSOO project to try to the get the ball rolling. Thanks everyone! The tower is actually hanging - no trans-clear or other trickery. I built this piece into the tower on the right http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=73090b and made it as solid as possible. The hanging tower is as hollow as possible, with only a single technic axle inside the round section. The actual bridge between the two sections is full of long overlapping plates. Even still the right side of the baseplate rises about a millimeter off the table from the weight of the tower.

Sometimes its not what goes over a bridge that is troublesome - its what comes from under it. In the more remote reaches of Mitgardia bridge trolls can be more than just a nuisance - they can block entire trade routes or even collapse the bridge itself. This led to the construction of the Hanging Towers along the underside of strategic bridges. Manned by just a few men, these towers are quite effective in preventing the nesting of bridge trolls if only due to the angle of their watch. It was my hope to convey a small section of a larger bridge, while I feel I failed somewhat in that respect (the MOC seems fairly self contained) - I'm still happy with the overall look. For Mitgardia!

Wow - great towers everyone! A question for our leader - Can we use an equivalent size for our watchtower (for example a 16x64 rather than a 32x32)? For the next challenge I think it would be fun to do something non-military related - maybe a festival or holiday scene to showcase the culture of our land.

Greetings clansmen! I present myself, Olfox Scalebane, and the rest of the Scalebane family, and offer our allegiance to Mitgardia. For centuries the Scalebanes have festered a bitter hatred for the dragons of the north and have made it their personal duty to slay as many of the beasts as possible. Olfen Scalebane (bones pictured), Olfox's father, died to the fires of Smaux, the largest and most diabolical living dragon, while aboard his great longship. It is said that the dragon lifted the ship completely out of the water and skewered it atop an icy spire before finishing the captain and his crew. The Scalebanes will now stop at nothing for vengeance. The family has always been fiercely patriotic, although the people of Mitgardia are often wary of the family's somewhat barbaric ways. From left to right: Olfox's sister Olessa, his younger brother Olken, Olfox, and his older brother Oroll. The family carries their own weapons fashioned from the bones, spines, and claws of slain dragons. Olfox himself carries the dismembered tail barb of a dragon. He plans to fashion the anchor of his father's longship (when his Bricklink order arrives ) to the tail and someday plow it into Smaux's skull.

Three gladiators face a fearsome opponent - a dreaded cyclops mounted on a war elephant. Past champions are immortalized through their shields and skulls along the arena wall. Meanwhile, one of the gladiators considers a jump to the elephant's head. Gladiators compete for the crowd's, and the emperor's, favor. Nothing says power like meat, women, and wine. Thanks for the image size catch Taz - resized them and forgot to save . The temple does have a small interior - a tan and brown tiled floor with with weapon racks and Asian character scrolls on the walls. I didn't think it was worth one showing as one of the main six images but I'll try to get a brickshelf folder up. I wish the red dragons mouth closed too! Thanks for the comments!

Name: Assault on the Mountain Temple Theme: NinjaGO Price: $199.99 Pieces: 2000+? Introducing Assault on the Mountain Temple! Lord Garmadon and his forces have constructed a giant mechanical beast to attack Sensei Wu's sacred temple. I like the temple's roof and the look of the cave. The good guys: Nya, Wu, Zane, Kai, Jay, Cole with glider, and uh... Mushu! I built the dragon to see if I could do a brick built head similar the single piece Lego uses. I also wanted to see a more Chinese style dragon. The bad guys: Lord Garmadon, his skellies, and their Godzilla-like pet (with a light brick in his mouth). The mountain cave holds a shrine, balance logs for training, and, way in the back, a patch of mushrooms. Sensei Wu rings the gong to signal danger! The gong is on the back side of the temple. The battle begins! I built this impatiently waiting for the Fire Temple and now I feel like I don't really need it - funny how that works. Hope you enjoy!

I agree, If I had the bricks, I'd make the water dark blue and, like you said, add some dark green to the structure. I want to try some of the other colossi but I'm struggling with how to make them look furry. And make that two people calling in sick on that release date. Nice to see someone as in love with that game as I am.

Looks so fun and lively! Great idea and perfectly executed. Just add the mad scientist's flask when series 4 hits.
