  1. wow! this design is beautiful and looks to be more stable than its predecessor! As an avid 9v guy i Thank You for finding a use for the terrible flex track everything seems to come with now only thing i could come up with was an electrical break between lines any chance we could get a ldraw file? save us the hassle of squinting at black on black and guessing how you managed it thanks again ~yugistew
  2. gotta love that strategy... i myself purchased 3 of the new set planning on keeping 2 of the diesel engines and 5 of the cars, 10219 looks pretty sweet with a set of 9v motors on the lead engine and a dummy backup! so the remaining one of each will end up on ebay... i cant wait to see the bids sky rocket with other members who plan on doing the same thing... now my only question is: do i bundle the engine with an extra power functions set i have laying around(never used) or post it alone?
  3. as a 9 volt enthusiast i choked on my gum when i saw this ebay posting earlier... 8 pieces for 28$... free shipping... and a huge amount available! i paid 40$ last week for the same thing ;( anywhoo its worth checking out... always good to stock up on a good thing http://cgi.ebay.com/LEGO-9V-Straight-Train-Track-4515-Used-/320655335660?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa88c20ec
  4. id say start with some thorough ebay digging first... i have had some very good luck getting incomplete sets for scratch and then filling in the gaps with bricklink... 4511 was my favorite little project that started out with 2 partials and a number of pieces from around the globe.... its a whole lot more fun with the little gamble to start things off vs just buying everything
  5. the tender is absolutely beautiful! i love the slopes and graceful curves its soo powerful!
  6. i absolutely love the work you have put into the trucks on the engine... truck detail is often my downfall and you've done a fantastic job!
  7. i found a handful of them, ended up getting 20 doors (10 left+ 10 right) it was the glass inserts that killed me... i still haven't used the things because every time i try to put a car together it just ends up reminding me of the santa fe cars and i really want something different but still built in gray... any ideas on what i could do?
  8. you and i fall into the same category on this one... i take great pleasure in improving an already great set! any 6 year old can stumble through the instruction book and put any set together but a true genius improves on the design *you have created something fantastic here and i tip my hat to you ;)* i would love to see what you could do/or have already done with set #4511 high speed train (that is my project at the moment)
  9. i cannot remember the last time i purchased a new set in the store i love kit bashing and rarely ever look at brand new sets for what they are but more for the elements they have typically from that point i just end up buying the elements on their own via ebay or bricklink... however... trains are my one weak point and i gobble those sets up new, used, or incomplete however random and misguided my comment might seem there is point to it! i do take great pleasure in tearing into a well packaged lot from ebay. its always fun to see whether the owner was a true lego fan or just someone who stumbled on some bricks Does anyone else appreciate when you get that box in the mail and the 10 year old set is cleaned, bagged, labeled, and firmly secured with bubble wrap? sets like that do not even make it to my work table, they end up spread on the couch or wherever i first tore the tape off ;)
  10. good god! is anyone else blown away by the design of the trucks?! those look good enough to roll on their own probably the best design i have seen
  11. your white hopper is an inspiration! i have been working on an 8 wide mining train for the longest time and seeing such a well assembled car really does the trick to keep me going!! i also appreciate someone who models in a more standard lego fashion rather than making mocs that are so real to life
