  1. Great Mods, why the Crane Truck does not have double wheels I cannot understand as in real life it would. Great Flatdeck mod.
  2. Yeah Lego are pretty good, and filled in the missing part list, so will replace it. Being in New Zealand will take 3 weeks according to the email I got this morning. Lucky I have other sets, as I got a 15 beam from Lego Number 8294, because the beam is darker, used 2 from 8294 so it will not look to odd.
  3. Out of 6 sets I have 2 sets that have one missing parts each. I was assembling more of my Crane Truck ( 8258) and so annoyed. I have one number 15 beam missing. How common is this? out of six sets, so far have 2 missing pieces, so seems going by this 20% of the sets have one or so missing pieces? This has been the case for me anyway? For missing pieces how do you get on getting thid missing pieces from Lego? It is so annoying assembling a set to find missing pieces. Lucky I have other sets, so had to use a 15 beam from another set, if I did not, to progress building my Crane truck would not have been possible? Has this happened to anyone else?
  4. Fixed it, the instructions are not always clear.
  5. I am at stage 23 on the crane truck (8258), it show using a number 5 axis and the cog which you place in it, when I go and fit stage 63 to the truck body, , last stage in book 1, the number 5 axis is to long. It won't go through the hole, or if it did would hot the yellow cog, now I replaced the number 5 axis with a number 3 and goes in and clipped it on with the red pins and the 3 cogs are lined up? Now the plan shows you use a number 5 axis, but does not seem correct? Is this a printing mistake?
  6. I am amazed that many here are using Lego Sets that, without offending anyone, or not intending to, my 5 year old cusions are playing with, so see many of these sets as for kids, while Technics as more adult, due to there use in robot building and university use. Maybe Technic are to complex for some. As the Technic forum says for the advanced builder. Technics sets have always been for like teens, and are used in Robotics and universities, so Technics I can see how adults love Technic sets. I got some Technics sets lately as an extention to my Mindstorms NXT 2.0, and have enjoyed making the Models, my next project building the Crane Truck (8258). Technics have a place in the adult world, but have to laugh when I see adults still playing with, sorry kids lego sets, the kind of sets my 5 year old cusion is playing with. I thought they where gone as an adult LOL. Sorry don't mean to offend anyone, but don't know a better way of putting it. We do need a Technics website dedcated to Technics as they are far more advanced sets and used by people who build robots and enginneering, etc, advanced builders. So more adult like.
  7. I motorised my Frontend Loader (8265) and the thing I don't like about the motor is I find they, if your not careful go to the highest point and will stick, so when the arm cames down again you get a slight click, meaning it's got to it's highest point and slightly stuck. I have had gears come lose, etc. By hand it's fine, and nice and slow. I think the motor moves to fast and would be nice and you would have more control if it went slow like it does manually, so motors while good can be a pain.
  8. How many here have built a set following the instructions and found something has been put backwards, or the wrong place, or the wrong gear, etc? Sometimes the instructions are not always clear, or you have not followed them clearly? or if you had they where printed with a slight error? It is so frustrating when you build a certian stage and found you put something backwards, etc and have to backtrack, so how common is it to do something wrong? and how many have had this problem? Do you get better with each model you make? etc? I am just basically starting out building Technic sets
  9. I am new to these forums and introduced myself in the new members topic. I was wonder what people are using to store their kits in? I picked one of these, so should get several kits in this. The top also has 3 compartments for small items, would be good to store the small pieces in the top compartments. I have introduced myself in the new members. I have these sets 8294, 8295, 8265, and the red, truck crane coming, also got a Mindstorms NXT2.0, love robots and these kits are a good source for robot parts.
  10. Hi, My name is Dennis Rogers, and live in New Zealand. I have recently got 3 Lego sets, 8295, 8265, and 8294, and the Truck Crane (8258). I Got these sets as I am also into Mindstorms NXT Robots, so thought I would get some big sets for parts. I am enjoying putting these sets togther and have allready put 8294 together, but with one small problem? either I was missing a number 9 hole beam, or I slighty assembled it wrong, so had to use one from my mindstorms. Also got as getting the power kit, but when I ordered the truck crane, this allready has the motor, etc. I guess with the XL motors I can use them both? The extra Techinc sets are a good source of parts to build robots. I am starting to build the Front loader (8265), so these sets, I think have also got me interested in good big Technic sets. With my Mindstorms NXT 2.0 I have the pieces in an Organiser, so can make NXT 1.0 and 2.0 Robots. The cranes would make a good source for robot arms, and the catapiller tracks would look good for a robot also. For the Lego sets, got this so I can store all the parts and pieces in, and the top of the toolbox has compartments for nails, screws, and small things. Ideal for storing the small lego parts. So here is a picture of my toolboxes which I will store my technic pieces.
