  1. I agree, the width of the ship is the biggest issue. some widening is needed, but I think that pre-fab hulls are perfectly capable of producing a fine large ship, a brick built hull is not needed. Sure wish I could do that.
  2. I found the MOC page that goes with that ship, also explains why the ship is brown. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/20088 I think the brown fits it quite well, some of the ships that I have seen and would liketo make if I couldare unpainted brown as well.
  3. I really like the forts.
  4. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=193785 I kind of like it....It might be a bit to thin for its length in the end, but it doesnt look too bad I think. Its big, I think its claimed to be a true 74 gun 3rd rater, and it uses standard lego hulls, interesting at least.
  5. Ive never seen Cutthroat Island, i don't rent movies over the internet, and the local blockbusters don't seem to have it. As for movies, I do like the POTC movies, the first one is probably better, but the second is probably the best movie i've seen in a while. I can't really think of any other inspiring pirate movies ive seen, but the History channel had a special called True Caribbean Pirates that was good, the Discovery channel also had some shows earlier this summer, at about the same time POTC2 was released in theaters. BTW...has anyone heard of East India Company? An upcoming PC game that sounds sort of like a pirate RPG, you can either be a pirate or a merchant? http://www.3dgamers.com/screenshots/games/eastindiacomp/ screenshots look pretty nice, and it looks like it could provide some inspiration to people interested in ship MOCs
  6. While you are working on the Rose, are you also working on or accepting other projects? If so, I've got a few that I would like to see.
  7. No, The name isnt inspired by any lego set, its not really inspiored by anything, I don't know where it came from. And I still havent forgotten, but the camera is still away, so I cant do anything till it gets back.
  8. Very nice design. You said you used a painted center hull....did you paint it yourself? I've considered using paint before, but I always worried what the result would look like. It looks like it works very well here.
  9. I don't know anything abut the person that bought it, but Im pretty sure I remember seeing that it sold for 269$.
  10. well as far as parts go, Im really not in a good position right now financially or otherwise to buy much right now, although ToysRUs had some Captain Kragg boats from the 4+ line for cheap, so I got a few for parts. I have finished a few more ships, and have redone the ship already posted, but the camera is back in the shop, so I don't really know when updates will come. but they will.
  11. Well, I finally have my first ship ready to be seen. It's really just a small gunboat and has already been changed since these pics were taken, new gun, and a new mast. More will follow soon. A question to those with more experience...what is the best way to expand your collection, since i'm pretty much out of parts, whats the best way to get more? piece bypiece off of bricklink? Ebay lots? Buy whole sets online? Also, there probably isnts, but ill ask anyways, is there any basic instructions for making largeer ships? like a place to learn how you make the sloped galleries in the rear of ships, and other basic things? Well, enjoy the small boat for now, more will follow. See the rest at : http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=202403
  12. Thats a nice little ship, but I really like the cannon design, id try it out, but I dont have any of the side pieces.
  13. So I found these forums a few weeks ago and have been reading them since. It got me interested in my old legos again, and so I rebuilt what I could and tried to make a few more ships, they aren't very good, I didnt have much to work with, and i'm pretty much finished with what I can do for now. I don't know have you can afford so many sets and such collections, but buing anything new is basically out of my price range now, it's been nearly 7 years since I've even bought a lego set. Reading these fourums though has raised a few questions for me....what is ESPG that I see every once in a while? I found the Bricklinks site but is there anywhere else to buy legos online, not counting ebay? I could try to take some pictures of my tiny fleet when I can get my camera working again. One more question...is this the only pirate lego site around? Goodbye for now!
