  1. I feel bad that my first post here is a negative one, but... it's a boring building with a boring model. what more can you expect? It's right on par, one-for-one, 100%, the Burj Khalifa, commissioned by billionaires with more money than sense (common or design) to be really, really tall. I'm sure many people could try their hand at making a better version in Lego, but would it be worth it? Probably not. The Burj Khalifa is very standard and very tall. Yes, there is engineering that pushes the limits, but it pushes them up, not out, not around corners. And as an "architect" (architecture graduate, cannot legally call myself an architect yet), I think vertical cities are something that should be embraced, but with engineering and concepts that advance our living and our fields of work. So, to cap that off I'm disappointed in the choice of subject, not the kit. A more inspirational subject would have made a big difference. I personally might have chosen the Seagram building - to complement the Farnsworth house. A very simple tower, but with layered plates I think you could achieve a reasonable replica. Or, to stay in the middle east, the Burj Al-Arab (which looks like a sail) and is immediately recognizable as a landmark of Dubai. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seagram_Building http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burj_Al_Arab
  2. Why do LEGO toys have value to you? I've grown up with them, and they have always been there to support my imagination in unique ways. There is something satisfying and soothing about assembling a LEGO set. What makes LEGO brand construction toys worth your money? The quality, the pieces that have a high re-usability in other creations, that enable me to create exactly what I want. In what way has the LEGO brand let you down? "Juniorization" - dumbing down the sets by having fewer pieces, but this has been alleviated greatly since the late 90s/very early 00's. Recently, how has the LEGO brand improved? The aforementioned de-juniorization, the introduction of new pieces that make more sense than others (such as the 1x1 slopes!). What would you like to see LEGO (re)introduce in the next three years? I'd like to see the Town theme continue to expand and improve, with more of a residential (homes) or "financial district"(stores, shops, post offices, etc) aim. I would also like to see a new space theme, such as the Classic Space, Futuron, M-tron, but with a new style of design (to appeal to modern day kids). I could help you guys out with that theme ;) What does LEGO need to do to sell more products for less cost to them? They need to reorganize their advertisement strategies, give their products a facelift. If it were possible to change the packaging so everyone knows it's LEGO, and that the product inside is simply astounding and awesome (and creates a very solid model, without too many gaps, another thing I forgot to mention!), I think kids would take notice and start buying. It also doesn't hurt to put /more/ detail in! Look at the stuff in the Space sections of Brickshelf and Lugnet - there are amazing things made with just as many parts as in other sets. Adding smaller pieces for greebles should do wonders. Detail is always amazing - it catches the eye, and makes the person take a closer look! What reason(s) do you have for not buying new LEGO sets? 1) No interest in the subject 2) No interest in the subject at that certain price 3) Parts selection These are just my own reasons, I'm sure a child's would differ greatly. What would it take for you to spend more money on new LEGO products versus buying sets/parts on the second hand markets? I don't buy much on the second-hand markets, although I recently turned 18 and with my own checking account and card... that may change. so, Not Applicable What will it take for LEGO to remain the best construction toy for all ages and be a profitable company? More interest from all ages. The word has to be spread.... What are your home country, first name and age? USA, Alessandro (Alex), 18 Is there anything you would like to say with this last question that you feel someone at LEGO should not go without reading? The only thing I really want is for LEGO to make it through this tough time. After that, consider adding more detail, I'd give you a big hug. I'd be really, really, happy if you did it even sooner ;)
  3. This is a very late reply, but holy hell, that is an enormous PAB section. :oD I guess this one beats the one in Glendale, which used to be the biggest one.... :o Edited by Orlego... Yes it does indeed. The new wall has 340 bins total!
  4. US$14.6,000,000.00!!!! That number looks really weird. 14,600,000. 14 million 600 thousand.
  5. I'm the only person who doesn't care about the sandcrawler or jawas. Filthy creatures...
  6. watch the Nickelodeon channel - that's where Lego seems to advertise. Mainly Bionicle, but I'm sure they advertise other stuff.
  7. I have to admit I think I made a mistake by judging the new skintone minifigs before I had any. Anakin is my first skintone fig, and I honestly find nothing wrong with him. Of course, it's Anakin, so maybe I've always though he should look more pale and... evil. The JSF is such and awesome ship! I took apart the vulture though... I would've paid $20 only for the starfighter, it's that good.
  8. Only in name, I think. The JSF is supposedly the more "Tie" version. As for the colors not matching, when was the last time a SW lego set did match the colors? :P That is a pretty close match, I think. Of course, the Tri on the box looks like its colors have been exaggerated.
  9. 3 words: Bley Parts Pack. And that's enough reason for me to buy it. The added Clone is just extra incentive... hopefully it doesn't end up like the battle droid carrier... I'm going to get a couple of these just in case. Cheap clones, good parts.... almost as sweet a deal as that carrier was.
  10. That thing is so sweet. Definitely going to be in my basket when I get the Clone Scout walker and the ARC 170.
  11. Midnight madness will most likely occur again in early April. ROTS Lego will be included with that I'm sure.
  12. Brick modder's stuff is cool, but I'd rather not waste so much money on a light up fig.
  13. The new chrome bites. the chrome firefighter helmet I got in the fire truck set was rubbed/scratched off in some areas when I opened the set.
  14. Well, my vote for liking jar jar brought the poll to dead even, 6-6. Jar jar didn't bother me. Anakin did. Shmi did. Ric Olie did. Still, I'd rate Episode 1 and Episode 2 equally, because Episode 2 had *far* worse dialogue. I still cringe at that part in the beginning when Typho says "I guess I was wrong, there was no danger after all." It was like... how much more obvious is it gonna be that something will go wrong now that he's said that?
  15. I went with Harry Potter.
  16. Sweet. I might pass by the Glendale Galleria store friday after next. I'll see what they have. BTW, how much do the PAB cups cost?
  17. Airport.
  18. Holy megablock. 7249 is amazing. :oo And I can finally get that street sweeper I always wanted :D
  19. Question: Why, on the image below, is there a guys face with "gotcha" underneath it? From that, I'd say you push down on his head to make the light (or the "gotcha") come out. edit: image from http://www.kostky.org/forum/index.php?topic=184.0
  20. No. At least not for me. I didn't find anything that really interested me (Until recently when I saw the Y-wing). Hopefully 05 has some better stuff with ROTS.
  21. Oohhh, the duck jedi. Lol, how weird. I always thought his face was like that of a duck, not... alien.
  22. Heh, I didn't see this when I first got here. Okay, a little about myself: My faavorite Lego sets were probably from the ResQ and divers lines (divers was sweet), um, and I'm really excited about the new Episode 3 stuff... I might actually spend more than $30 on Lego in 2005. For the first time in a long time (I won't buy the craptastic sets like Mos Eisley Cantina, the ones that are overpriced and put in boxes that are way too big, to make it seem like you're getting more). I'm a 49ers fan, I wanted Kerry to win, I've got way too much homework and community service to do, and the glass is half-empty. Always. :P (As you can tell, it's been a pretty bad, depressing couple of months.) So, yeah, that's a little.
  23. Well, I'm not an electrical engineer or anything, but I think the LED could be contained within the body, with the battery. The thing would require the hollow arm to be filled (or made of solid) transparent plastic, as well as the hand. Then, the lightsaber would *also* need to be trans plastic (painted over, of course) and, if I'm correct, the light should go down the arm and light up the saber. It's similar to the way the train headlights work. The problem is that you'd have to be careful about the paint because it would rub off like the chrome used on other pieces (I think, I'm not sure).
  24. 71 pieces? I think that's a filler. The Droid fighter is probably 40 pieces itself. But it does look very cool. I think it's changed my outlook on this upcoming 2005 release!
  25. Brickie? He could use a lesson or two in general courtesy or politeness. I'm surprised it actually took as long as it did for him to go.
