  1. Impressive model! As i read thanks to my friend google, it is something between a crawler dozer and a grader. Read more here : http://www.deere.com/en_US/cfd/construction/deere_const/newsroom/2008/080312_764_hsd.html (I am not an expert in construction jobs and don't know if this machine is really revulotionary and if it shows good results though).
  2. Very nice !! I wonder, do they carry liquid cement ? It is kept liquid by constant mixing ?
  3. Hello, I'm not a regular reader of EB, but this post attracted all my attention :) Of course, people will answer in accordance to their age. I was born in '86, and i grew up with studded models in my dreams, especially with the blue print look of the boxes. And it was awesome. Models around 1999 are for me the best ones as (as already mentionned) they combine both building types. I don't know if at that time, the word "studless" already existed. But i think no one could have foresee the emergence of fully studless sets (correct me if i'm wrong). At least, i didn't see it coming. Many "old" builders switched to studless parts and construction method, but i can't. It doesn't seem like lego parts for me And actually, I don't consider studless parts as true LEGO parts. Or to be more precise : studless parts are very usefull in small spaces (everyone agrees on that point), but fully studless chassis and sets ? No thanks. I don't follow the new system sets, but it seems to me that also in that field, TLG moves toward more SNOT techniques : I tend to see less studs. Maybe is it caused by the emergence of new meta parts ? To my mind, the studs are the essence of the Lego Construction Game. (btw, does TLG have to include some studs in each set to be labeled "Lego sets" ?). This question is important, as it govers all of the building process of a model. But can TLG go back to (at least 50%) studded models ? I doubt it ... Clement "JakoB"
  4. thanks everybody for your welcome :) i'll be a pleasure to read the forum, for sure! edit : to make things clear : bricktrucktrial.com doesn't display only my trucks! ;)
  5. Hello everybody, my name is Clement, born 1986 and french. I almost always liked lego bricks and after a dark age (ending in 2004), I use to play with Technic bricks. I also like system MOCs of any theme. My creations can be seen in my BS folder : http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=Jakob. As you may notice, I prefer studded parts to studless ones. Maybe I’m too purist, but for me, studs are an essential part of the lego game, and studless parts (as well as new big metaparts) don’t have the lego spirit. Of course, I like new technic parts, as they allow the building of complex mechanism in tiny spaces, but studless beams? no thanks. I’m part of the http://www.setechnic.com forum, a French forum dedicated to the Technic theme (and a little bit of starwars also). http://www.nicjasno.com is also one of my favourite website, even if I don’t build such huge LPE-powered cars. And I am joining http://www.freelug.com (but I still have to complete the registration). I am also the administrator of a new (nov. 2009) website dedicated to Trial Trucks (TrTr): http://www.bricktrucktrial.com. It aims to regroup builders on a common English website and allows them to exchange on different questions about TrTr. The website is operational and i will make a specific topic to present the website. I believe that eurobricks in a very living forum and that it will open my eyes to still unknown builders and MOC (unknown for me).
  6. Hello, I am Clement and I am the administrator of www.bricktrucktrial.com. I'm a new registered member on eurobricks.com and I still have to get to know the forum, its main lego themes and the people participating in it. I guess there is a "Present yourself" section and i'll soon post a topic there. What I would like to say here is that bricktrucktrial.com is not dedicated only to Polish TrTr races. in 2 words, bricktrucktrial is a website that aims to regroup trTr builders on a common, english platform. Members present their trucks and can discuss about techniques, questions, challenge rules ... I'll present bricktrucktrial.com in another topic. In polish, i know trucktrial.pl wich seems to be their main website (google translates it well). About your original question, I also think the cherry picker is a good set, with gears and motor, and wheels, and mechanism, and it is not so expensive. However, it is "studless" i.e. it contains mostly non studed parts, wich may disturb you if (like me), you prefer the "old style" studed parts. It is a relatively new set so you will not have any difficulty to find in MINT (new). On the contrary, older, studed sets may be more expensive and/or hard to find. It depends on what you can find on ebay for example. I'd recommend to first, buy a decent technic set (or many) to get used to the technique and the mood. Then, use the parts of your set(s) to build your own MOCs. The more sets you have, the more parts you can use to build MOC. and of course you can still unconstruct your MOCs to rebuild the original sets. Finally, you can buy separate parts on bricklink to enrich your collection or if you need a certain part for a certain mechanism and don't want to buy another full set.
