Need a General Kenobi Decal, any ideas?
morris replied to aayla-secura's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
then you will have to buy some paint, a brish, a normal obiwan minifig and make your own. -
that is fine, for you, a true fan does not necessary have to own one set of star wars lego for me, a true fan should have the golden C3PO we just have different definition of a "true lego star wars fan" no contradiction there i believe Starwars4J to be honest, i think you have brought up a very very important point here. why would they be disgusted? you are saying they are "disgusted because the figure is not made available to everyone". well, i would like to make a tiny correction, i think what they are saying is , they are disguested because "the figure is not made available to THEM" now come to think of it, the limited 500 star wars lego set at the CIV are not made available to everyone, are they disgusted at that too? to broaden the prospective, star wars lego set are not officially avaialble to certian parts of the world, like China or India. not just the golden C3PO, but all the star wars sets as well since LEGO does not ship there. are those people you mentioned disgusted by that too? what i am trying to say is: the people you know who say they are disgusted because the figure is not made available to "everyone" , infact, is only disgusted because the figure is not made available to "them" otherwise, they would have been disgusted at the fact that LEGO is only made available to certain parts of the world, see what i am saying? I like how you like me by assuming I changed from "everyone will get one" to "everyone who wants one will get one" to "everyone who is a SW lego fan will get one" to "everyone who is rich and wants every single figure wants one". but you assumed wrong as i did not change, i was being specific as several members have trouble understand what i am trying to state. where did I state "everyone who is rich and wants every single figure wants one"?

first of all, i live on earth, not in a world of fantasy. i have an idea of how to label a fan as much as you do, it is just that we have different ways of labeling a fan you mentioned you are willing to bet that there's more than a few fans out there who are broke and some broke because of their love of lego. i do not mind you beting on it,but i think it would be better if there is actually an article from a reputable source about a fan being broke because of his/her love for lego. up till now i have not heard of anyone going broke because of their love for lego. have you heard of it from somewhere? if you have, could you please provide a quote or a link so we can all have a look? plus, up till this point i have not heard of a true lego star wars fan "not liking" this new figure, yes, some people cannot afford it yes, some people cannot find it yes, some people canot get it but, if you think bout it reasonably enough, do you really reckon there is a "true lego star wars fan" who sincerely "does not like" this golden C3PO? finally, i would like to say i am not "dodging" anyone's question. perhaps you can repeat Starwars 4j's question here so i can promptly answer it. by the way, i hope you would not "dodge" my question by providing a quote or a link to verify your bet that someone went broke because of their love for lego?
-
i have not known a sw lego fans who is broke. anyone who is broke would not get involved into lego star wars in the first place as it is kind of a luxurious hobby. if you can reference anyone who is a star wars lego fan and is broke i would be every happy to agree with you. also, I have not known a sw lego fans who doe not like this figure, if there is, i personally would not label that person as a "true lego starw ars fan" for a start in addition, if you only "touch" the figure, it would only be "touched", but it would not be "scratched". it could only be "scratched" if you "scratch" it.
-
i think i mean a "true lego star wars fan" not a "true star wars fan" so there will be "true star wars fan" who don't like lego at all, are broke, don't like this fig and can't get them even if they try. but for a "true lego star wras fan" how could they: not like lego are broke don't like this fig can't get them even if they try ( this really depends on what you think "try" is, for example, if a person posts on this forum or on FBTB "i want this fig for free, could anyone give it to me for free?" would you consider that as "trying"? It is "chrome plated", not "painted", plus, i don't think i would be too scared to touch it. are you too scared to touch your figure? why would anyone be scared? i am lost at this point here.

but what other collection do you own? this is what i have stated earlier, anyone can claim they are a true sw fan but their claim might be false. in order to verify if a person is a true sw fan a line must be drawn, and this golden droid is a very good trial to test anyone who claims to be a "true sw lego fan" they are not really "that special" compared to the REAL GOLD c3po however, they are still "special" compared to the normal, dull c3po

try ebay -
well......... i guess normally a person would have other things to sell before giving up his kidney and mother. but like i said, how can anyone claim to be a true sw fan without one of these droid?
-
1. what do you mean by everyone? if you mean everyone on earth then i agree with you, but if you mean a true sw lego fan, like i said there will be enough 2. 2 doubts. one, lego announced there are 10,000 . but how are you so sure there are infact only 10,000? could there be a possibility that they produced more than 10,000 and announced that there are only 10,000 to mark up their profit margin? have that crossed your mind? two, yes, like you said, 10,000 period. maybe 100,000 later on. 3. price will ultimately rise in time, then we cna only tell in time later on, not now. marketing strategy, i agree, very well spotted. like, does anyone really think lego would just produce a mould and assembly line and chrome plating equipment just to produce 10,000 figures? i doubt it.

i just re-read it. which point did i miss?
-
ok, vader, i don't know why i have the feeling that i am being picked on when all i am doing is comforting everyine instead on saying the droid is too expensive and we will never be able to get one. you said someone here has "vast amount of experience with collecting lego" well, that person is me. i am a super-collector of SW lego figures. i have alot of SW lego figures, probably more than anyone in this forum. and I can prove it too with pictures. so maybe what I say can be the fact on the other side of the coin which all other collectors with "vast amount of experience with colleting Lego" fails to see.

i was just telling members to hold on to their money instead of wasting it to some money-makers. i have not mentioned that before and i don't see how it hurts
-
vader, i would like to say, i am NOT being aggressive. i used the big font so to stress my point more clearly, is that not allowed here?

|............._____................... 260USD |.........../..........\.......... |........./..............\....... |......./..................\.... |___/......................\ 100USD |..............................\.... |................................\... |..................................\.........50USD |....................................\... |......................................\.... |________________ it shall be roughly this. haha, yoda, i am not being aggressive here. i love this community. that is why i would hate to see members here getting RIPPED OFF! guys, just HOLD ON TO YOUR MONEY, the marke will soon be FLOODED with the goldn droid and anyone who is buying them now at 250USD will be KICIKING themselves.
-
guys, stop worrying about it ok? listen to me for a second, yes, people are opening unpurchased sets in an attempt to find the gold C3PO yes, the price is high at 250USD per golden C3PO yes, we are all so desperate to get one and the idea of not having one really does KILL BUT!!!!!!! have you ever considered the fact that there might be a chance LEGO shall produce more than 10,000 golden C3PO? the claim of only 10,000 produced could be a false claim just so to drag up sets price and ultimately lego's annual profit if you guys are so worried now about the limited golden C3PO, what will happen if LEGO announces a release of 10,000 silver R2D2 by 2008 and then a crystal palpatine holograph by 2009 and a platinum vader by 2010? then you will NEVER REST! just enjoy your lego. i am telling you, everyone WILL get one. yes, things are looking brighter already, right? *sweet* *sweet* *sweet*
-
have you ever consider the people who bought it with 250USD may later on feel it is unworthy to buy a figure for 250USD? the price will just falls to a point where it would be affordable for anyone who seriously collects lego star wars. it is only 250USD now because this is the start and there are some really foolish and rich buyers. just a point, the C3PO is not solid gold, so your point of precious metal does not apply
-
do you remember what happened when the PSP and PS3 were first released? the price goes up, and then it goes down. i know these consoles are not limited to 10,000 units but then, then are more game players than star wars lego collectors so price will be UP, and then DOWN. i really don't know whether Bill Gates is looking for this or not. how do you know Bill Gates is not looking for this?
-
i seriously doubt it, anyone who really has an interest in SW lego would open any 2007 sets they have to gain a chance to find the golden C3PO, plus, how many MISB fanatics are there?not much. it really depends on what you define by "outrageous" for example, "expensive" and "cheap" are just relative, no definite definition is 100USD "expensive" ? to a person living on a street, yes to Bill Gates, no.
-
how do you know that more than 10,000 peole world wide will want this fig? guys, like i have said, stop worrying about it. soon the market will be "flooded" with this golden C3PO. just get one by then.
-
guys...........you don't have to get it now fo 400USD each....... like i told you, there will be enough for everyone who wants one. just look at jango and watto.
-
is that what you are planning to do with your lego?build a masoleum andintered in it with you? *sweet* i was just thinking passing it on would be more benefitial on the behalf of my children, grandchildren...
-
i know. did LEGO do the times table wrong when they are converting from USD to GBP???? or they just always time it by a factor of 2?
-
i guess it just feels good to have one, for a start. secondly, i would personally want to set up a scene with the golden droid in it thirdly, won't it be nice to pass it to your children, grand children, great grandchildren...... do you agree?
-
yea, i get this kind of feeling too........ we shall be taking our hard earn money out and buy the golden droid , why does LEGO deliberately limit this to 10,000? does it not know only releasing 10,000 will drive up the price?
-
thank you guys, for being so understanding, all I was trying to do is to give us a chance to think and imagine we all have the chance of getting the figure we want. I am sorry if anyone is offended by this purpose but I really mean no harm and rudeness.
