For one, I'm not hoarding anything. I'm a collector and I'm keeping one in the box. I have a ton of other things that are mint in the box and a lot of those were limited editions too. Two, I bought three because I wanted to make sure I could give one to my son for Solstice this year. This way we could race them around the house and have a blast. Now we can both have one and I still have my MISB collectible. With how saturated the ebay market is with these sets, I'm sure the prices will come down and you'll be able to snag one for a decent price. With all of the ones that are listed right now, I can guarantee you that none of them are mine. I didn't buy these as an investment. I'm not looking to scam anyone.

I'm not ashamed at all. I wasn't even aware that there was a limit until I viewed the threads on this site. At least I'm not trying to get rich by selling them on evil-bay.

I've always been a huge LEGO fan, but stopped buying sets for myself and started getting them for my son when he was old enough. When the Architecture line came out is when that changed and I started treating myself to sets of my own. Started off with some smaller ones like the Sears Tower, Space Needle, etc. I went to go get Fallingwater, and because I had to wait in line for so long the manager gave it to me for $50. The next three hours were pure joy for my son and I since we both worked on that one in a coffee shop. Now I'm only behind by 5 sets and I think I'll get caught up this year when I buy myself some Solstice presents.

Especially if it's true that someone bought 200 of them. It's going to be a long time before he can unload all of them. The power of plastic, my friend. Now I have to find a way to pay the bill and avoid the interest.

One to play with, two in the box. There was no way I was going to buy one and not put it together.

First attempt at adding an XL to the 41999. I'm sure something will have to be done with the shocks due to the increase in height, but this should get it started. Here's the file from LDD if anyone wants to mess with it. 41999.lxf

You can use clothes hangers, clothes, DVD cases, books and loose change. The books can be opened and supported in the middle to make ramps. The hangers would simulate the "logs". DVD cases would be for ledges and such. The clothes and loose change would be like driving over loose gravel. I just ran my crawler over a bunch of this stuff in my bedroom and it worked pretty good. I even took it outside today and ran it over some real gravel and it did a pretty good job. It couldn't handle the grass though (haven't mowed it in a while so it was probably too tall).

I don't have this exact set, but I have the 41999 set with the same mechanics. I switched the gears at both the motor end and the universal joints for a double gear up. Without the body on the chassis flies around pretty good. However, there is a significant reduction in speed when the body is on (obviously due to the extra weight). After a few minutes of running it at full speed the overload protection kicked in and the truck just stopped. Turned it off and back on again and it worked fine. I'll probably end up switching one of the gear ratios back to they way it was so I get a bit more torque, but it won't be as slow as if I had built it per the instructions. I'm also working on a mod in LDD that will use the XL-Motors, but since they spin slower (220 RPM vs the L-Motor at 380), I will have to gear up for more speed. I'll crunch some numbers and let you know how that plays out. Given that the XL-Motor is wider I'll have to redesign a few areas in order to fit it.

Yup. Bought one during a vacation last week and put it together. Found out how rare they were and figured it was worth driving another 7 hours to get two more. Tried for a fourth, but the LEGO store was all sold out. I think I got the last two they had.

All three of the ones I got were roughly $215 USD each with tax. That was an expensive vacation for me.

I've got 12613 from the set that I've built, and two others in sealed boxes so I have no idea what numbers they are.
