  1. Informative and interesting review, thanks. This is the the only 1H 2010 set I don't have now (apart from 8041, which is in the post), and ironically the one I have been looking forward to the most. The UK price is very good, and I particularly like the mid-scale of the model. The fact that Lego did not put pneumatics aside when they introduced linear actuators bodes well for the future. One more thing to add, tomacwhite - have you thought about extending your review to add the Power Functions compressor feature, if you are able to? Would love to see it. Looking forward to more of your reviews! H.
  2. Evening all :-) As an AFOL rebuilding his Technic collection, I was very curious about this set when it was announced as to how the tractor was constructed. Blakbird's great and funny review has confirmed that with a couple of slight alterations it is identical to 8284. So why create an identical tractor with functions that the included trailer does not use? Unless LEGO are planning to (and if they aren't, they really should) release a further set or sets of attachments and implements that attach and make use of the transmission/liftarms? Just a thought...
  3. Great review. I have this set, in fact I now have a complete collection of TT sets built up over the last few months - as an AFOL I have really fallen for this line. I find the fact that the cars, truck and buildings are not in scale to each other quite deliberate and part of the appeal, I remember all those Matchbox/Corgi/Dinky toys I had as a boy, with those huge garages you'd never see in real life - those were the same. Stickers are part and parcel of the TT experience, so I always buy spare sheets on BL. Since your sheet appears to be damaged in the box I would ring or email Lego and get them to send you a replacement.
  4. Hmm, interesting-looking set, but if that is a preliminary image the SW torso may well be changed. Like the minifig seats used as mudguards. The price, as always, is the decider, though - and how long they plan on having the set available.
  5. (blows a lot of dust from keyboard Last Crusade - Fighter Plane Chase. Remember the scene after Indy and Henry escape from the zeppelin? Could include the the plane they initially escape in, one of the pursuing fighter planes, the car they transfer into, and of course a few seagulls... :-) Figs: Indy, Henry (with umbrella!) and fighter plane pilot.
  6. IMHO, since TLC/LFL extended their licensing deal until 2011, I believe an AT-AT re-release or redesign over the next four years is a near certainty... Lego wouldn't be cruel enough not to give us another one, surely.. ? :-/
  7. Thanks everyone for the wonderful welcome! :-D
  8. Thank you for the welcome. Aye, if there is one greater joy than building with Lego, it will building it with my son - I can't wait... *sweet* But I'm going to make sure he has plenty of Duplo in the meantime of course... :-D
  9. Interesting set review, thanks for sharing. To add to the subject of the new parts, two of the round pieces with attached plate were included in the Star Wars 7171 Mos Espa Podrace set from 1999. They were in original dark grey and came with the axle hole...
  10. Hi Everyone! If you recognise the name, then you might know me from the FBTB forums. In the real world I'm called Shaun, I'm 37 and I live in Staffordshire in the West Midlands of Merrie Olde Englande. My first Lego set was the 605 Taxi set from 1971. Of course my love affair with Lego has never really gone away, despite getting rid of several suitcases full the stuff in my teens... But I came back at Christmas 2003, when my girlfriend (now my wife *wub* ) bought me the 4489 MINI AT-AT set as a "joke" present. Little did she realise the monster that she unleashed... I bought all the Star Wars MINIs, then made a start on the System sets... But recently things have changed. I now have a son, Callum, a delightful little boy of nearly nine months. With childcare costs etc, I've had to scale down my Lego habit a bit, and in fact had to get rid of several of my larger sets - my Sandcrawler, 4504 Falcon, and, probably to my eternal regret, my 4483 AT-AT - which at least made a profit on, but that's not the point... Anyway, my remit now is any set of 40 GBP or under - and as a result I am finding there's lots more to buy and enjoy than just SW Lego. I have the 4884 Wild Hunters Creator set (the lion is fantastic), which UK S@H has at half price, and a couple of Exo Force sets (7700 & 7701) - I only intend to collect the human mechs though, I find the robot ones a bit ugly. But there is a lot to collect, a lot to talk about, so I thought I would say hello, and sorry for rambling! *sweet*
