  1. The 4th image down the line is really epic. I just did a review for the new tanker truck and decided to go the same way - macro 'life' close-ups. It wasn't really all that easy and I didn't do anywhere nearly as well-as you. Granted, I didn't have a whole city to work with as my background! They're all great and very imaginative. The pig in the cross-walk, well... why the heck not! The roof-top chase is golden too. What are you using for lighting? Just overhead?
  2. @ Prateek : thanks! Glad you liked them! @ Mr. Timms : he was also referred to as 'the dude' and " the minifig . " ...I am ashamed I'm glad you liked it. Anyone else? Would love some pointers on what to do/not to do next time.
  3. The windows on the ambulance really do it for me! Oh boy. I used to have one of those some long time ago. Really amazing that you found this set NEW. The classic town stuff really rocks my boat and you found and nicely documented a treasure trove. Way cool I'd definitely have a smile on my face as-well, putting these together.
  4. City 2010 Tank Truck 222 pieces $20 USD This will be my first review on eurobricks, hopefully everyone will like it . I believe I am within the image size guidelines...I tired to downsize these as far as file size goes and I didn't see a limit for images per thread, so...yeah! I'm going for a more informal pictorial style. Hope this way works! So, we start out with... A pile of bricks and a one very overwhelmed minifig: Since our guy is a minifig, he disregards the directions and promptly begins building the trailer first: Working on the equipment: Building an oil tanker is hard work, so, after taking a short break...the oil guy decides to mount the tires: and afterwards, promptly resumes working on the tanker...much progress has been made: in fact, so much progress that the dude needs a pit stop...again. Behold: Next, we tackle the gasoline/diesel (whatever you like! ) pump: Things are coming along well. Mr. Oil guy decides to begin building the frame for the cab: More progress, checking the steering and fit and finish quality: Our guy is a one man assembly line! He's happy: ...because all his hard work has finally paid off: He will now be driving the truck to my grand hotel, for a drink and good company. THE END Afterword: This is my first City themed set in, well, forever. Prior to this, I built the Cafe Corner and Green Grocer. Before those..years and years without Lego. The huge modular buildings were fantastic but building this reminds me of how fun the little sets were to build and play with . In short, I liked it. A lot. It also recalls to memory a set I had as a kid; 6695 Shell Tanker. I had a grand time with that one, fueling up all my city cars. It was an easy but very enjoyable build. If you have a City collection going, I think this one is pretty much a must-have. Someone has to supply the fuel, right? I can imagine getting a few of these [they are relatively affordable] and maybe building a fuel depot. Anyway, after making this one I went out and a few more city sets. They're still NIB for now! If you liked this self-assembling review, please let me say so and I will happily do more. Thanks everyone for looking! PS. I know I put the running board stickers where they shouldn't be. Also, the fuel gauge on the tanker itself is reversed. Boo me
  5. Well, in regards to the poll...I believe that the two go hand in hand. When I was a kid, mini-figs were the best. I think mine ( all 30 or so ) had individual names. I remember building 6769 Fort Legoredo and re-enacting an odd mix of 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly' with a little bit of Arthur Conan Doyle thrown into the mix. (Professor Summerlee fighting Tuco, anyone?) I loved my sets, too - but mostly I took them apart and built other stuff, never keeping track. Now that I'm in my twenties, I find sets more interesting and am happy with the plain old mini-fig expression. The flesh-colored mini-figures strike me as un-Lego like, but, admittedly, I've only recently rediscovered Lego. A few weeks back I bought a set [7599, Garbage Truck Getaway] and sold the figs while keeping the set for cheap. Considering what the mini-figs went for [never could've guessed there was such a demand for the 'dirty' Buzz], I'd have to say that the popularity definitely appears to be rising overall.
  6. Would be helpful to know your specs, please. Also, are you running an ATI card?
  7. While I've heard of Discworld over the years, I know next to nothing about it...well now, you and your MOC have just convinced me to get started on " the Colour of Magic. " From what I've read, Discworld seems to revolve in a nutty fantasy setting that has elements of everything, all this of course interlaced with British humor and wit! Have you read ALL the books? There seem to be very many! As far as the MOC goes, I like the unusual layout and all the roofing is nicely done. Only thing that really bothers me is the mix of the old warm grey and the new cool grey. But that's a personal peeve!
  8. Not me. For me, Apple + Final Cut = win. Apple + all else other then graphics processing = fail. Sorry if that's biased, but that's how I feel. Apple products are very overpriced for what they are. Some people also tend to think owning a Mac puts them into some elite few. My girlfriend had an iPod and it was in a semi-perpetual state of malfunction. Eventually the forward button broke. We got her a Zune HD. She's happy now! I've always had 'alternative' MP3 players and have enjoyed them more. As far as audiophiles are concerned, the iPod is lacking in sound quality. Throughout the years, I have had: a Sharp Minidisk , then a Rio 300, followed by Rio 800, then a Samsung Yepp 55, then a Sandisk Sansa m200, then a Sansa e280, followed by a Cowon S9. Phew! That last one I am particularly fond of.
  9. Thanks for sharing - I enjoyed seeing some of the automated process! When the lady was tilting the box of heads into the bin, she let some roll!
  10. Alas. It would've been nice to pick one up.
  11. I especially like the meat that's on the grill! (is that what it is? Looks like burgers cookin!) Also, the dark red elevated floor in the booth is nice. My Cafe Corner has four-stories with two levels on each. Needless to say I have not yet even began thinking of tackling the interior! Maybe someday :)
  12. Welcome, welcome...! Don't know too much about Western PA, but I've clocked a lot of miles driving through! 81 past Scranton to 380 to 80.
  13. Quite impossible. Clicking noises = dying hard disk/failing fan/optical drive.
  14. As far as the poll goes, I have a PS3 because I use it to watch Bluray media ( I own about 15) and DVDs. I don't own a single game for it, but, when Gran Turismo 5 comes out, that'll change! As far as gaming goes; my primary gaming rig is my PC. I couldn't afford console games if I wanted to...I'd always choose LEGO! PC games are another story, though. I've got an ATI HD5870 and an E8500 Wolfdale running the show and that's more then enough for me, especially so given that I'm a very casual gamer and mostly play older stuff (Dungeon Siege, Skies of Arcadia(DC), Gothic 2, SH2, Far Cry, HL2, etc) occasionally. I did enjoy Bioshock and Crysis however :)
  15. It made me feel a little better...until I called today and changed my order to include...four. So that's $512.50. I agree that the price to piece ratio is excellent for what you get; at $112.50, you get 2352 pieces, which amounts to something like .0478ยข per piece. That's four cents!
