  1. Hello everybody, I have just found out this forum on the internet and found it quite addictive...some of the creations here are truly amazing. My name is Horus, the Egyptian falcon God. Let's say I live between Italy and Canada, though most of the time I live in the Italian Alps. As a child I have been a huge fan of Lego. Right now at university my interest in Lego was somehow revived. I realized it's quite easy to make accurate historical models using lego, and definitely much more fun. I am very fond of historic sets. My first creations would be egyptian themed, but I also like roman sets (Just hope I will land some nice job in Finance to raise enough money to make my own giant mold of Ancient Rome, eheh ) I am working on my first egyptian-themed set right now. You can see a few pics here (still very preliminary): http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32560
  2. Thanks for the warm welcome and the interesting ideas. Overall, the structure would be the following: 1. First entrance Pylon 2. Inner courtyard (open-air, sorrounded by colonade on four sides) 3. Second Pylon 4. Great Hyposteles Hall (colonade covered hall) 5. Third Pylon 6. Smaller Hyposteles Hall (only two rows of columns) 7. Inner Shrine: Shrine of the Sun barge, Altars and warehouses. Here are a few preliminary screenshots I took in LDD (I had to break the temple down in few sections for LDD to run smoothly): Outer Pylon (still missing the two obelisks) Main temple entrance (fortified guard post) Shrine in front of Pylon First Courtyard (section with column heights - inner and outer colonade) First Courtyard (exterior) Hyposteles Hall (section with column heights) Hyposteles Hall (exterior with upper balcony and balustrade) Temple partial ground plan: Hyposteles Hall is in the foreground, second pylon, courtyard and first pylon in background.
  3. Hello everybody, This is my first post here and my first large MOC. I am planning on building a minifig scale model of an egyptian temple (like Karnak or Luxor, for instance). The temple will consist of three pylons, an outer courtyard, a great hyposteles hall and various inner chambers and sanctuaries. Below is a small, mini-scale model. The temple will be approx. 1.80 meters long, with the outer pylon standing at 40 cm tall. I made LDD models of the various sections, which I will post later on. I was thinking of making the temple in tan colour. However, I understand tan bricks are quite rare, and most of the slope parts I would need for making the pylons are already out of production. I was wondering if you know of any (possibly cheap) source of tan bricks and especially slopes. There are appearently not many auctions involving tan lots on e-bay, and tan pieces are usually quite high priced on bricklink and only rarely available in the required quantities (consider that each pylon cosists of approx. 2,000 sloping pieces, and there would be 3 of them)...
