  1. depends! if you want a long train then run long carriages, since that reduces the number of wheels meaning less friction. the lego train base is unrealisticly short so makeing it longer can make your train look even better.
  2. wow, lots of pieces going into this, i never thought building a frigate would use so many pieces. also you appear to of had a name change...
  3. put the PF in the coach then, its not very hard, but would take up the coach.
  4. for putting the RC from the cargo train and the passenger train then put it in the coach, this wont really fit with the type of coach but it will work. that super long tender option is kinda stupid, the EN apears to be based on british proto types and if they needed lots of fuel+water for a long journey then they where given two tenders. i would suggest just paying the extra for the PF, the rechargeable battery is cheeper in the long run than 9AAs that need replaceing about as often as you have to charge the PF battery. oh and for good doors for 6 wide cars look at the offical lego models, the tow-truck uses the classic doors. brick built doors also work.
  5. or you could try useing the pieces you own, i need a male blonde hairpiece i could order it but i know i own it so ill find it.(i hate unsorted boxs nearly as much as sorting them).
  6. planes are really wide. planes that have been converted for cargo can carry cars. the ploblem is that to stay in scale they have to be very long . and airports very large! build an airfield or small airport that only handles small planes(2 man planes). even some of the smallest commercial planes have 4 rows of seats, and go past 20 seats long+tail, then theres the hold, this means you have to make the plane taller to fit it in, the wings would also be massive. lego roads can be used for 8-wide vehicles if you dont like the result then make your own. 6 wide and 4 people can be done, ive done 2 side by side, one word of warning you will need a space between seats for there arms meaning the seats need to come out to the side, so the doors are hard to do. a 6-wide coachs normally have 1 row of seats, but thats not realistic, you can have 1 row of seats each side of the walkway with 8 wide. you can do what you want with lego, people make really detailed space ships and stuff. the classic lego feel isnt what you seem to want, its your choice which feel you want.
  7. really nice model, the new livery looks really nice. that front looks amazing!
  8. From the looks of the creation i think the english word is buffer. The design is really nice, most of the time i just pile bricks to block the ends of my track.
  9. nice, but in my oppion it dosent capture the looks of the castle class, change the front to the curve that they have. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GWR_4073_Class
  10. ide spend too much time makeing a choice ! SES though, sell it and but hull pieces and masts.
  11. Four of the 45x45 baseplates fill the same area of 9 32x32 baseplate, the large is the cheaper option if you just want a large base-area in grey. If you want to use roads then go for the 32x32 since thats the same as the road plates in size. buy one and see how you get on with it.
  12. old thomas was the best, they had meaning instead of the new ones which themes are normally "something happens, its resolved though some reason that teachs children nothing" old ones where good. something to chew on: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=rkovis...amp;view=videos sadly system scale thomas wouldent sell very well, duplo connects with system though, they appear to be 8 system studs wide(4 duplo studs ) so its possible to do.
  13. I'm a 13 year old boy from england, from a young age i've been interested in trains, mainly steam locomotives, my grammer and spelling can be pretty bad but when im not sure about a spelling i normally Google it to check. from where im sitting i can see tons of lego as well as some older toys, one of the oldest that i can see is a brio 4472 model/toy thats got fading paint and because its a toy designed for 5 year olds looks quite diffrent to the real thing but still catchs the essence, thats how i want my models to look, not 100% spot on or even real locomotives,i just want them to catch the idea, i do greble the underside of my rolling stock though, close to where i live is the bluebell railway which means i go and see real steam engines without much fuss. on a shelf above it is a display area ive built to show my drones and mainly bipedal (model not working) robots they are built to the scale of miniland, i found this a nice scale as it made more humanoid legs(gah each time i try to type "leg" i automaticly add an "o"!) easyer. if i get a camara that can take more than 3 pictures before needing to charge then ill take pictures. i also enjoy the pirates theme and the historic aspects of that time. my name comes from my likeing of muffins, mainly chocalate ones, and douglas adam's books.
  14. i really like the roof, the mix of bley and old grey gives it a very stone look.
  15. i think it desolves one layor of plastic so that you can see the non-yellowed plastic under it, i wonder if it will effect the grip of the bricks or if the diffrence is very small.
  16. english muffin. my favorite is really flat sausages, im not sure what there really called all i know is they are flat made of sausage and can be put in a toaster.
  17. the historical feel isn't really a good selling point to 7 year olds, so play-ability takes center stage. lego sets now stray from realism alot more than they used to. to be historical the good vs bad becomes alot more complex and strange. in my view pirates is much more about team 1 vs team 2 instead of good vs bad, on one hand you have the cut thougt pirates but on the other you have ruthless empires, lighten them up for children and you really cant say which is bad and which is good.
  18. the old hinges after the introduction of click hidges. classic smiles quite recently.
  19. PF: cons: complex to make a small locomtive expensive pros: your layout will never be so big you need two controlers you can follow your train if you have a large layout instead of being stuck at the control point.
  20. british privateer, so im against everyone who britain dosent like . im not sure which nation here is against who so im just waiting to be sent a list of which ships to sink.
  21. they dont have there fluffy groin bag Sporran to hold down their man skirts kilts. nice uniforms, its nice to see something diffrent to the offical lego armys.
  22. British Privateer. .
  23. my first MOC i remember was a Duplo air port i made for a small 1 seat plane . hehe, be carefull when you say first.
  24. hopefully the pirates theme this time will survive for quite some years, so theres plenty off time for blue coats and red coats to fight for whos sets whos.
  25. express locomotives where designed to be smaller and more steamlined instead of large and bulky. if you dont like it give it to me!
