ohyeah, I've been using those strategies. I just don't see myself standing there for hours and hours doing it with 1x2 bricks. thanks for the info!

There are 4 lego stores within 1 hour of me. I finally went to the last one that close and it was my first time seeing gray 1x3. Bought a box since I thought they would be extremely useful to have. Anyone know if this was a good buy? I'm still new to MOCs and still haven't really made anything, but I'm always in the planning phase... I wonder if I need to get 1x4 gray? I bet 1x2 and 1x1 of gray will be my next boxes I buy if I can ever find them... So far, I have got about 15 cups and 3 k boxes. boxes were Dark gray 1x2, dark gray 1x2 palisade, 1x3 gray. all 3 from different lego stores, all 3 stores were awesome and let me fill up the rest of the box because of the empty room they come with.

Hello! I have had Lego my whole life, but it wasn't until a few months ago that I started to really get back into it. I'm really interested in MOCs of buildings, castles, with landscapiong and such, I'm just terrible so far of coming up with idea on what to do. I went to my local pick a brick store to get some gray 1x3 or 1x4 bricks. they had none so I then wanted to get a kbox of 1x2 palisade bricks. They had no boxes so the awesome manager handed me an empty kbox and just said "just fill it from the wall" so yeah, I got about 5000 1x2 dark gray palisade bricks... I started working on a castle like place and I wanted to make it modular so I could take it apart and decorate each room outside of it, but then I got to the point where I had no idea how to do the roof without the roof collapsing so I ended up making the inside of it solid, telling myself I would do more research then make my next project modular. So yeah, I need to find out how to make a building with a roof that doesn't need a ton of support beams... I just need lots of info about how to make modulars all together!
