Thanks very much guys. I have been absent here for a while, but I've been slowed down considerably by a new baby. I still lurk though, and lurk often. Eurobricks always has the scoop on new product, as well as MOCs you don't see on other forums. Dragonator: I started this diorama in November and finished it about a week ago. My building time is sporadic so it's hard to say how many hours. I tend to build about 5-10 hours a week depending on how busy it is at work. Since the baby, it's maybe half of that. Lasse D: Thanks. I get most of my parts now from Bricklink, but I still tend to buy just about any interesting kit that falls under the 25$ price-point. I am bringing it to the NorthWestBrickConvention, in Seattle Washington. After that, I'm afraid it's back to the bins from which it sprang. Asuka: Thanks. Of course there is. Thanks guys! This is denfinetly my largest project, probably never to be surpassed because it took so long to make (almost a year) that I'm sick of loking at it! I should have more pics after the fest, this one was a real challenge to photograph because of it's size and awkward dimensions. Almost every picture, except for some close-ups requires alot of photoshopping to get my dining-room out of the picture. Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to leave your thoughts. Oh, and StarWars4J (sorry, don't know your real name), a desert layout is a great idea, but I'll have to seriously invest in tan plate first. As for my inspiration, it's mostly 60's-80's scifi and/or action movies. For this particular layout, the Connery Bond films had a big impact. I could see Dr. No or Largo or S.P.E.C.T.R.E. hanging out there, can't you?

Greetings, I thought I'd de-lurk and post a link to what I'll be bringing to the great NWBC this year. It's a little 4'x 12' diorama constructed in conjuction with Ryan Rubino and Mike Rutherford. Starwars4J: Thanks, if it is any consolation, you are looking at all the brown I have. To answer your question, no the are decidedly not secure and caused me a fair share of grief with minifigs falling over, and clumsy movements of my hands >:-) . I started by using the grated tiles on headlight bricks, which gives you a nice sunken look, but I didn't have enough to cover the distance I required, and doesn't really allow for the freedom to depict turns that I wanted. Borrow away, I've seen other designs like it elsewhere, so I'm not even sure who came up with it first anyway. It is part of a large projcet I'm working on with 2 buddies. We are hoping to take it to NWBC in Seattle Washington this October. You mean the samuri-robot thing? Or the tentacle monster. I can email you more pics of the robot if you like, I think my site is pretty much saturated with pics of this moc right now. As for the tentacle moster, that's all there is, I didn't build the rest of it. Thanks, -Keith

Thanks Mr. BMW, and to answer your question, no I don't have anywhere near enough Lego to keep these displays together. I do have some small ships and other random mocs I keep around for shows, or on the off chance I'll use them in future projects, but never for long. I really don't think that mocs are meant to be kept together long-term. I know some folks trot out the same tired mocs at fests year after year after year, but that's not my style. Back to the bins from whence they came, to rise again in some new form...that's my policy. Thanks again! Did you attend NWBC as a participant or on public day? I wonder if we met? -Keith

No, I don't think this is my best work. I think the ministry of info retrieval, the ghoul, and sato plaza are my best, this one relies on alot of techniques I've developed over the years, and I don't think it's particularly original. Also, it didn't quite turn out the way I'd planned. I don't think it sucks, it's just not my best work. Thanks for the kind words though. -keith

Modified bricks like the headlight brick or any non-standard bricks. Studless is the future of Technic and it seems the future of much of what is LEGO system but I will never give up the bump. Your jedi mind tricks don't work on me. ;) It was a vague joke. Nevermind. I must say though I don't quite understand the green goblins. Do they were suits or are they some sort of alien? Nobody seems to understand my fascination with the goblins, they remind me of some kind of techno-savages, like the guys in the beginning of Zardoz. Bio-enhanced death-men who enjoy the taste of human flesh, and/or selling human flesh. There is no reason for their inclusion, I simply think they look cool. Aparrently very few people agree with me, and the goblins are fairly unpopular minifigs, but I've never been one to follow the herd. -Keith

As for your last comment, I've got no clue what you're talking about. I've never used a tentacled monster, you must be thinking of Paul Brassington and his 5th Conspiracy mocs. Thanks for the nice words, and to everyone who took the time to respond to this thread. About the interiors, I usually don't detail any interiors, it's just too much work on a project of that scale (9 gray baseplates). It's not that I don't like interiors, I just usually run out of motivation by the end. That, and I think interiors are a waste if you have to take the darn thing apart just to show them.
