8057: Wreck Raider Item №: 8057 Pieces: 64 Minifigures: * Diver * Shark Price: US $9.99 / EUR 9,95 Ages: 6 - 12 Released: January 2010 Theme: Atlantis After the news that the Dutch shopping-chain V&D was selling the Atlantis sets, I tried my luck and headed out to one of their stores. Upon arriving I didn't find any Atlantis sets. Apparently they decided to wait 1 more week so that they can launch with a big sale. But fortunately for me, there was a small table with some toys on display including to boxes of this 8057 Wreck Raider. Priced at EUR 9,95. The box itself is a basic box with a perforated opening on the side. On the back it features some of the playability functions like flick-fire missiles (or some sort of hook contraption) and the rotating engines. But it's the inside of the box that counts. 2 bags, with a small bag inside one of them which includes the collectors item of the new Atlantis series. I'm still not sure what it is, but it's a nice addition anyway. The instructions come folded and features a new Nielsen ad. And last but not least, a small sticker sheet to complement your model. The manual doesn't use a pieces call-out, but it's a small and quick build, so that shouldn't be much of a problem for most of us. Colours are good, and a small error was present on which the wing stickers are wrong. But that's no big deal. Between all the parts I spotted some new pieces (at least to me). Of course it features the new diving suit with a trans-green visor, and the new 1x3 tile. Also included is the gold trident, the collectors ring and some lime-green studs and cylinders. Also present in the picture above is the shark head. The best part of this set by far is the new diver minifig. I really love it! He's printed all over (excluding arms and back of legs) with an intricate print of diving related tubes and logos. He features lime green flippers and the new divers-backpack with a non-moving visor and technic-pin-sized-hole. But I guess you don't want your visor to open while you're working a couple of honderd feet under water :) The shar figurine is also a piece of art. It features a beautiful head print and a sea-ish print on the front. No back print however, but he has a leg print! His head is made out of a soft rubbery material used for several other heads. Then the raider it self; It's a nice design. The shape featured on the front is very nice and fits nicely to the other Atlantis sets. The colour combination of red and dark grey looks stunning and it also features some lime green details. I feel the stickers add to this model with some nice white stripes on the front and top and a nice pattern on the wings. I like the engines, but they should have been a bit more to the back. It's to close to the wings. Concluding I can really recommend this set to anyone who is interested in this new series. It's features to beautiful minifigs and some new 2010 parts. REVIEW: 8967 Gold Tooth's Getaway
MayTheBricksBeWithYou replied to Dark Wanderer's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thank you for this review. It made me go for the Agents 1 Mission 1 instead of this one for my little nephew. Might not be new, but it looked much better to be honest. -
Review: Gold Minifig Keychain
MayTheBricksBeWithYou replied to Erdbeereis's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I see that yours has a tan inside of one leg as well. Probably because of the chroming method? -
Received the Space Truck Getaway and Hyperspeed Pursuit today together with the golden keychain. Looking forward to the build!

Ah, pitty. I was looking forward to one. But then again, maybe not :P Is it any good? Edit: Ah, I just saw your review @ Brickshelf. It looks rather okay to me. But I see a lot of room for modifications/improvements. But that's okay. Hurry up LEGO with my order! :P Can't wait now!

I just ordered Hyperspeed Pursuit and Space Truck Getaway from S@H Netherlands, they were both 'available' and ordering was no problem. Looking forward to the sets. Though I'm a bit sceptical about the Space Truck, I hope it's as good as I hope. But we'll see.

He paid in Canadian Dollars, so I guess he lives in Canada ;) Anyway, great review! I like the police vehicle, but that's all I like I'm afraid. :(

Thanks! So the 2 grey discs are spare parts from this set? Nice! It's not that exiting no, but I was curious about the looks.
-
Superb! Thanks!

Thank you so much for this review! Now I want it even more! One request though, can you make a picture from the bottom sides of both ships? Thanks!

Indeed, I think I make my decision in the store when I have the box in my hand. But just judging by this picture I won't blindly buy it. It looks to random. I'll wait for some reviews first, to see some more pictures. But now we get an Alien 'base', or at least an Alien ground set. Next up, a Space Police base!

2010 themes and sets?
MayTheBricksBeWithYou replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade yesterday and I thought that scene where Jones Jr. & Sr. where tied up to the chair and went into the rotating fireplace would be a great set as well. With a big round rope piece to fit over the 2 figs on 2 chairs and a nicely build fireplace in a detailed castle room. With a concrete, dark German planning room on the other side. And of course a big set for the finale would be great as well. -
I've seen it at TRU Würselen (Germany) as well.

It seems that I've been to quick with getting those new Star Wars set @ TRU Germany, I could've got myself a couple of those Vader figs.
