  1. If the apocalypse happened, I'd be getting hammered as well.
  2. Very nice review, and a very nice Modular set! Now if only they would do a bank.
  3. Thanks, everyone! And the nostalgic pictures were made because those two pictures were blurry. I decided to use that to my advantage, so I bumped up the contrast and saturation a lot, turned town the tint and the color temperature to make it sepia/black and white, and there you go. Just something small I did and decided to post it here as my first MOC. Pretty soon I'll be posting pics of my 1850's steampunk airplane, where President Pierce will make a cameo.
  4. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, I've never posted anything like this before. Please forgive me if I'm wrong... But without further ado, I present our 14th (and most forgettable ) president Franklin Pierce! Sorry about the poor photography; I've been playing around with the lighting trying to get better. The two in the middle are supposed to be blury to imitate the camera quality back in the 1800's. Also, I have a pretty crappy camera. Anyways, again sorry if this is in the wrong section. Please move it to where it needs to be, if so. :)
  5. I've MOCed for as long as I can remember, but I've never posted them on EB. So, I think I'll join on this. I'm not really sure about my photography skills (they suck very badly ), but I can get the pics online. I have two groups of Legos: my Star Wars/Harry Potter boxes at Dad's, and at Mom's I have Castle, Indiana Jones, less Star Wars, any City sets I own, and a good assortment of old figs and new figs. So, count me in, I suppose. :)
  6. Holy crap!!! That's incredible! Really reminds me of Der Flakturm from Medal of Honor: Airborne.
  7. Does no one else other than me really want to see a Lego Talespin (even though it's not Pixar)? Think of that plane in lego...
  8. Fantastic! I'm so glad I've got to see this. :D Can't wait to see the Mire and the Twilight Woods.
  9. I can't wait to see it! Wait...we will get to see it, right?
  10. :P Well, same concept.
  11. That's a skyship. It looks like a normal ship in a way, but that large ball thing in the middle, enclosed in the cage, is the "flight rock". It's a buoyant stone that keeps the ship in the sky. When cooled, the ship rises, when heated, it lowers. Sorta like a mix between a ship and a hot air balloon. :)
  12. Yay! I'm so glad that there are other Edge fans out there. And as to the reading level scale, I'd say between a 3 and 4 as well, leaning a little bit towards the three, but it is much more mature. SlyOwl, that ship looks very snazzy. Also, I can't wait to see everyone's skyship MOCs. I would try to build one but...I fail at MOCing over half the time. If I had maybe an entire three days devoted to JUST MOCing, all my collection in one place, with a few hours of thought, I may be able to come up with something decent.
  13. Written by Paul Stewart, illustrated (well) by Chris Riddell. I think the first book was published in 1999, the last one (#10) was published earlier this year.
  14. Has anyone found any MOCs of the book series "The Edge Chronicles"? If you don't know what it is, it's very steampunk with flying pirate ships, floating cities, a different world called simply The Edge, and involves many characters. I love the series and thought it would be a very good source material to MOC from. Anyone found any MOCs or share this opinion?
  15. Sorry for the uber-bump but I've been looking EVERYWHERE for these! :cryhappy: Do you know where I can find pics of all the others?
  16. While maybe not Star Wars, I think that LotR was always more popular than HP, in both books and movies. (I still haven't read the LotR books, so I can't compare them to HP, but IMO the LotR movies OWN the HP movies).
  17. But think, with LotR, we'd get: Balrogs, Giant Spiders (not the crappy Aragog version), Hobbits, definite Elves with Elven armor, weapons, Elven cities, etc., Wizards, surely new torso decals and faces and hair styles, and possibly weapons. Not likely, but think of Gandalf's staff.... Also new Dwarven stuff to MOC with or to add to your Castle collection, as well as Gondorian soldiers to do the same with, and Rohan soldiers as well. AND, who wouldn't want a Gollum minifig?! And think of the sets! You'd get Bag End, Isengard, Rivendell, Mordor, a section or two of Minas Tirith and Helm's Deep, and along with all the siege vehicles, like catapults, trebuchets, siege towers, battering rams, and don't even get me started on the army builders! Packs of Gondorian soldiers, packs of Uruk Hai, packs of Rohirrim (think of all the horses!), packs of Orcs, packs of Elven Archers, packs of Dwarven soldiers, and packs of Hobbits . Also, think of this. After the initial Hobbit and LotR brands are done, they can explore into the Silmarillion or perhaps the Unfinished Tales, giving us Fingolfin, Feanor, Morgoth, Ungoliant, the Two Trees, the Blue Wizards, everything! And then they can branch off and give us character packs: The Four Hobbits, the Fellowship, The Five Wizards, the Three Elves, Seven Dwarves, Nine Men (or Nine Nazgul :cryhappy:), Sauron and Saruman, Grima, Theoden, Eomer, Denethor and his sons... Wow. I would LOVE this. :D
  18. According to recent news I saw at theonering.net (http://www.theonering.net/), the animators at Travelers' Tales and Lego are making a demo to pitch to Peter Jackson in hopes of making a Lego: Hobbit VG. Now, I've never really been too thrilled with Lego games (I'm all about the actual sets), but with the idea of a video game coming up, we may get a Hobbit or LotR brand coming What do you think will happen with Tolken+Lego?
  19. They said that they might be possibly working on one. Nothing is set in stone for an Indy 5, not by a long shot. Anyways, I think the Indiana Jones line's last year is next year. Their final sets, I think, will be the Zeppelin, Ravenwood Bar, Tank Chase, and Map Scene and/or Submarine (although it didn't have much of an appearance.) The reason I think they won't include the 'Club Obi-Wan' scene is because they've already done a set that includes the opening scene to ToD. They still may do it, but that's my opinion on why they won't. It's a shame that we all think it's ending so soon - it was a great theme.
  20. Best: 1. Castle. Classic staple, great figs, great buildings, perfect for MOCing, it's THE Lego brand. 2. Star Wars (not Clone Wars). Very great theme that is the bulk of what Lego runs on. However, it's winding down... 3. Indiana Jones. Great transfer from movie to set, with spot-on figs, wonderful vehicles from the 30's-40's, lots of playability. Runners-up: Close, close tie between Adventurers, WW, and the old Pirates. In the middle: Batman, City, Space, etc. Worst: 1. Bionicle. I've just always thought it was a stupid branch. 2. Spongebob. Really? It's an animated show. It's just a stupid idea in general to try and make Lego sets off of that, IMHO (kind of the same thing for Clone Wars). 3. Exo-Force. Never really been into the whole Mecha thing. Runners-up: I've always felt Mars Mission was pretty poor. Same thing with pitiful Avatar .
  21. Adventurers and Wild West, more than anything.
  22. I want 1x3 tiles as well. I'm building a small castle MOC that could benefit greatly from them. If only, if only....
  23. I'd just came across it one day looking for pictures of new sets (can't remember if it was 2006 or 2007), but anyways, ever since I've relied on EB for awesome early pics of upcoming sets, and you've never failed!
  24. That would be great if they released a Bank set, of the same size and similar to Cafe Corner or Market Square, with a huge vault with 1's, 2's, 5's, 10's, 20's, 50's, and 100's. And tons of gold coins.
