  1. For such a major ship as the Black Pearl, they really should have UCSed it or invented some new techniques.
  2. StoutFiles hit the nail on the head on just about everything. This Hoth set is a very lazy effort. My question though is not about the number of builders who contribute to the set design, but the inconsistency of their work. Except that this isn't like a government, which can implement immoral legislation if too few leaders are granted too much power. It's just LEGO, and given that even in governments it can be desirable to have fewer people for increased efficient, I'd say the overall process of set design is expedited by having fewer hands on each model. The goal is simply to hire an incredible set designer. But how can the guy (maybe certain builders are consistently worse among the seven SW designers) who built Anakin and Sebulba's Podracers have also created the Sith Nightspeeder and this terrible Hoth set? That's what confuses me. There are plenty of MOC artists who could create better sets, even when accounting for brick and aesthetic efficiency, so how could this Hoth set ever have been created?
  3. Hello! What's this? A non-jejune Rancor from brickmaster Pin? Riddle me this For a noob MOCman's sake Tell me, dear Pin How long did it take?
  4. So much better a review than most. I liked how you rated the categories honestly, not dishing out 8/10's and 9/10's so freely (although you gave build a 5/10 for being average and price a 5/10 for being poor). Don't be afraid to dip below the 5/10 barrior if the set actually is below average. I like your explanation of the minifigs and the bonus picture too. And as for this set, it's significantly overpriced but still provides a good selection and potential for army building.
  5. It looks like LEGO is reverting back to older days with poorly constructed sets that lack any sense of unity. The jail, mine and Sheriff's office seem haphazardly placed, as if they asked a child to build something and accepted it as a final product. And these minifigs seem to stray too far from traditional design, especially Bullseye. Just take a step back and look at this set objectively. Better yet, imagine this was a moc. Pretty mediocre by today's higher standard in LEGO.
  6. That king octopus looks pretty good but otherwise the sets seem lackluster.
  7. I am actually glad about this news. Too many times in this modern world have I seen companies extend an idea beyond its expiration date. I don't know that one main release of pirates was necessarily enough to be considered expired, but better too early than too late. And besides, everyone knows they will come out with more in a few years.
  8. Most of them look like they're straight off the Megablock line because they're made of the wrong type of plastic.
  9. I don't understand how you did something like this for your first MOC. My first one was garbage. How'd you go about creating it, like how did you know which pieces to order, how to create the architectural feel, how to create the rocks and waterfall, never having done it before?
  10. These first pics make it seem like Napoleon didn't do much to distinguish himself from previous Total War games. Although I'm sure they added more content. Too soon for this game in my opinion, even just to announce it.
  11. Good review because you rated it very accurately. Usually people say "It was a decent set, so, 7/10," when in fact it deserved a 4/10. So your 2/5 rating was spot on, and I will trust your future reviews from here on. And by the way I may have only a few posts, but I've been reading forums here for years.
  12. There is something about that guard tower with the pair of ladders that feels really authentic.
  13. It seems that TLC is getting more and more skilled with each new set they produce. If you look at the side of the LAAT/c, it feels like your looking at a truly professional piece of art. I used to be annoyed that so many people could create MOCs that were better than the actual TLC products, but that feeling appears less and less now. While the AT-OT is slightly less attractive than the AT-TE, it has more minfigs, and more of a feel of an actual troop transport than the AT-TE felt like a tank. I actually like the dropship more than the Republic Gunship, and so when you combine that with the AT-OT, it seems clearly the best CW set yet. Although, the price seems way too high, especially considering we can get the gunship, AT-TE, and 4 clone packs for the same price.
