Yup I'm gonna be another pointless poster who shares the same opinion as everyone else I think the best sets of 2009 would have to be medieval market village and city corner. They where sets that showed TLC could give the community what they wanted Medieval Market Village is a beautiful set with plenty of amazing figures, details, and new elements like the cow and the turkey it was one big beautiful set designed with AFOL's in mind (and what could be better to make the AFOL community happy ) but at the same time it is a beautiful sets for younger people too! I loved the set and my 7 year old cousin loved it too! And City Corner was just what city fans needed too! A relief from the constant emergency services and vehicles to show that TLC could make a great civilian set too Which unfortunately are still rare compared to the hospitals and police stations The set was great to expand the civilian area of your town with two (<insert that tiresome argument> ) buildings, two bikes, and a lovely bus too! However because of the juniorization I believe the set of 2009 is the Medieval Market Village.

AFOLs contribute a little under 5% of LEGO sales
MarcusV3 replied to Rick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Eh, this doesn't really surprise me I mean just think about how many afols you know that live by you and then think about all the kids and I'm sure this site has a lot of members but compared to the numbers of kids who buy lego there's a pretty big difference of course on the other side of the argument I spend about $2000 dollars on lego each year which is a heck of a lot more than most wipper snappers! But maybe afols would be 1% but our large spending makes up for the loss of numbers. Although I would expect it to be more than 5% maybe like 10% -
Parts that just can't be taken apart without swearing loudly
MarcusV3 replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This piece with most things that have a hole in them It can be done sometimes by twisting while pulling but I still have a bunch of them stuck in places thanks to space police! -
I'm sorry to be a pain and revive an old thread but with all the new harry potter sets coming out are you inspired to continue your project? I'm really looking forward to seeing more parts of hogwarts if you build them
-
Yeah I saw that! And I'm just like you, little details make the set a lot more interesting for me although I sure hope there's something other than just that behind there
-
Yep, that one and an atlantis set come with the older ones. I think since we're done with undead armies (because of the ending of the fantasy line) Lego is reverting to the older styled skeletons.
-
Good idea at reviving this thread! Personally I really just want a normal luna, with a normal face and a ravenclaw uniform. But maybe I'll get lucky and she'll have a double sided head!
-
Hahaha! I was sleepy too when I wrote mine No that makes sense, like Clone O'Patra said, Having giant spiders and generic bad guys would be a lot more versatile and fun to play with than a bunch of french girls not that I wouldn't just love to play with those Beauxbaton ladies

It's strange...why wouldn't they have included pretty much anything from GoF or PoA? I was thinking that maybe it was because whereas the older films haven't got any sets in a while for kids the newer ones did have sets released more recently. But still, if they find it so important to release fire stations every 2 years or so to satisfy newer generations, why wouldn't they want to have some satisfaction for generations that missed out on the sets that were released 4&5 years ago? That seems more important to me, especially with the wide fan base for harry potter! But the fact that it looks like they're trying to take down most of the movies in one wave still scares me for the future of the theme
-
Nice review! I remember seeing this as a kid and always regretting that I never got it then I missed out! I love that brain and hand piece! They look really cool, and I like the way the creepiness of the shop is perfectly captured in this set
-
Haha well I would be interested but I meant for this trade to be more of a trading thread, not buying (hence the name "Marcus V3's trades!") Sorry for any confusion!
-
Your post caught me off guard! I thought lego really made an official one But same thing as everyone else nicely designed! but PAB prices are disappointing Those would be perfect for filling up people's Green Grocer's and Cafe Corners!
-
I only have 1 of the older ones and maybe 8 or so of the new ones (I'm not really a castle builder so I haven't had that many opportunity to get them) But I'm looking forward to getting some older skeletons (if TLC really is bringing them back) I love the cute smiley faces and I never got one! All mad or undead
-
I personally think the new Grevious (despite an awful arm connection) is much better than it's predecessor, and the detailing (though a bit much) is perfect for cw. And boba seems perfect to me
-
Great job! I remember this game, it was one of the only ones I had for my ps2 and I'd play it for hours in that one city and zoom across different parts of it I had hours of fun on those things and you captured it perfectly in lego form!
-
I PM'd you Well I think, did you get it? for some reason it isn't showing up in my sent folder Great! I live in the US in New York No I've only picked up one star wars set in my lego life but that set came with two battle droids and one battle droid commander, I certainly don't have 30 though
-
I just love your town! It's so nice to watch it develop and grow into a fully realistic lego town, My favorite parts are your modular building creations like the pink florist, and lego store/McDonalds. Your modulars look perfect next to all your other buildings, something I can't really pull off so I have to keep them in two different sections of my town. Keep on going! I can't wait to see what you come up with next
-
Great job! I love your balance of tan and sand blue and white! I would have never thought of that color combination
-
I can't wait till these are released! They all look amazing! Although it's pretty awful to see them now but have to wait until october Even the dobby's release set looks good to me because it comes with some pretty useful parts (lucias's hair, dobby) The only ones that are a must for me are the burrow and hogwarts but I might pick up the others too Bellatrix is my favorite character in the series because she's portrayed by my favorite actress, so I'm very excited to have her in minifig form. Plus since Helena's (the actress who plays Bellatrix) characters all have about the same darkness and look to them this fig will be perfect for future Mrs. Lovettes Also Fenrir is perfect! He looks just like he does in the movies! Both outfits are very nice and perfect for darker toned mocs too. I love all the figures so it'll be unfortunate if I don't get the chance to pick up Luna, Ron, and Draco I don't understand why Ron wasn't included in the burrow, and why Malfoy isn't in Hogwarts (They have the Slytherin common room and everything!). But I kinda like the way they've given the theme a more "collect them all!" instead of "Collect them all and have a bunch of doubles" It's certainly a good market idea! Ravenclaw is my favorite house so I'm disappointed that they're STILL avoiding making that print but it's probably because if Luna had a Ravenclaw outfit we'd all be complaining about not having a Hufflepuff one I can't think of any other reason since malfoy is the only fig the Slytherin uniform is on and he only wears it in one set As for double sided heads Bellatrix's confuses me why would she have a face with a "D:" unhappy/scared look on it? She seems perfectly cheerful in the movies either that or furious and Luna better have one! not that I don't adore those glasses but I want to see her with a normal face! But despite a few disappointments (okay maybe more than a few (no Neville, new Snape not so great, no Ravenclaw uniform, no Slughorn, etc.)) Also for Voldemort I think he'll probably make an appearance in the next movie in dark green at least I hope so because that would be the ONLY thing about these sets that has to do with the new movie Also Snape's semi-nice appearance could be to support the later movies discover that Snape is a good guy who's on dumbledores side As far as the sets in general I like that they span across a bunch of different movies! That kinda reminds me of TLC's emphasis on imagination, now the kids can replay movies and even make up their own scenarios and plots. Unfortunately to me that seems like a bad sign against a second wave of sets because it seems like the sets are trying to knockout a bunch of movies in a few sets because there won't be anymore after this but then again I also see this as lego trying to allow newer generations of kids to reenact and play with older movies because they can't buy the older sets anymore. One thing that makes me think that maybe there will be another wave is that the sets don't really show any sign of the final two movies. Maybe there will be a wave just for those and maybe then we'll have a few more of our harry potter needs sufficed
-
She looks great! I like that new head, at least we'll have a bit of variety in girls now I'm happy you posted this because I saw this set on brickset and the owner of the set mentioned a new girl in it but I never got to see a good picture

The Penguin's Harry Potter minifigures..... )
MarcusV3 replied to The Penguin's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Amazing! I really hope lego will release figures as good as yours in the future! Slughorn is perfect I'm really excited for the new sets but there are a bunch of figures that I just wish they'd make Let's hope for a 2nd wave! -
All the creations in my table town are just displayed based on theme, I have an area for Town, space, and castle. The reason I say "creations" and not sets is because none of the buildings in my town are purely from Lego (with a few exceptions like vehicles and other small things). Either I have modded all of them in some way or their MOCs of mine. Specifically in Town I have a section for modulars and normal buildings (no back but all are "modular" because I have them hooked up like modular buildings). And I still buy lots of sets it's just I usually change and improve them. Also I tend to honor my favorite sets by giving them a bit of my own touch Favorite Buildings I've modded: Green Grocer (Changed the 2nd floor into a dentists, and made the third a full on apartment for my sigfig with a couch bed and flatscreen) Cafe Corner (Made an interior with cofeemaker, blender and fruits, cup shelf, tables and stools, and a counter oh and I changed the cup in the front to chrome mmmm!) City Corner (made the whole building bigger, changed into my normal town's modular standard, added LOTS more tables and chairs for the second floor, added a bed and dresser on the third) Agents mobile command center (Changed into a building instead of a truck, made into modular standard of my own town) Castle (Changed into a kind of great wall of china style (much smaller obviously ) and added little bits of interior inside) And for your specific question, my favorite mod of all! I changed the winter shop into modular building standard (much bigger!) which allowed me to add lots more toys on the inside and for the second floor I made it into a candy store! (You can imagine my disappointment that the Grand emporium's 3rd floor is a candy store as well! But I suppose that's another thing to mod about that building ) The outside kinda looks like a gingerbread house on the 2nd floor but that fits in with the "candy" theme! I swapped the white for gray on the roof (Which I loved about the original set so I saved it) so it isn't limited to winter either! It's one floor shorter than all my other modulars but I think the shortness and V shaped roof give a little bit of variety to the street (which also happens to include Fang my vampire club, A Bakery, a zoo, and of course my family's manor ) It looks BEAUTIFUL next to green grocer and the others!!! Edit: Oh and bye the way I have a whole basement to devote to my lego town so it's gotten pretty big!
