Ratshot: Done, and thanks! Otters: glad you like the hair!
  2. Hey everyone, I've been a member here for a while- just never bothered to introduce myself. I come from the land down under (Australia that is) and was pretty much obsessed with lego as a kid. I dug out my old lego about a year ago after discovering some amazing castles on flickr and the likes (namely by rocko and darkspawn) and hoped I could fulfill my childhood dreams of building something just as rad. So far I havn't quite got there but thanks to a few bricklink orders I'm on my way. It probably goes without saying that my favourite two themes are castle and pirates/imperial - love 'em. I always find myself mindlessly clicking through brickshelf, flickr, eurobricks, etc to check out peoples creations. I've learnt a lot so far just by doing this and also by getting some great feedback on the forums, and hopefully theres more of this to come. Cheers, Capto
  3. I love the waves and the sand; especially the wet-sand look with the tiles, nice!

Thanks for the comments everyone! Haha I had a feeling that was a women's hairpiece but I put it on anyway to try and get a wet hair effect happening

Thanks for the reply mate there all great points you made, shattered I can't use them though. I left this wayyyy to late- next time I'll definately start a few weeks earlier so I can actually make use of advice like this. It's amazing the things you don't pick up when building then someone mentions it and you can't believe you didn't do that in the first place. Anyway, that whole size of the building thing did cross my mind when I started building the bar but it just seemed too complicated to do anything about. Then the skinny facade look was amplified when I put both another room and a fort above the bar (initially I was going to have one or the other but I couldn't decide which so I put both ). That said I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Once again, thanks for the compliments.

An overview of the MOC A soldier cleans the bell atop the fort while the governor surveys the horizon using his sextant (yes, that's what it's called ) Some soldiers choose to spend their spare time having a drink at the bar, while others have some fun in the sun The governors house sits below the imperial defences The bartender serves the soldiers long deserved drinks while the barmaid does her makeup in the mirror Cheers, Capto
  7. Thanks for all the comments It is my first moc ever, as in since the things I threw together when I was about 10. You're spot on there Perterz. I've been lurking for quite a while and have copied been inspired by many creations- mostly from the likes of Rocko, Darkspawn etc.. And yes, it does seem that almost everything has been done already The tower didn't turn out exactly how I wanted because I ran low on pieces, but oh well. I designed the top in MLCAD months ago, then ordered the pieces it needed along with a whole lot of blue and grey, and just went from there. Ahhh I knew there was something wrong, thanks! Maybe I'll put a guy in there and make it his toy boat or something Here's some of the messing around I did in MLCAD ages ago that started this whole moc:
  8. -The King's Keep- I've been lurking around here for a while and after sorting out all my lego and making a couple of bricklink orders, I finally got round to making my first MOC. The ship in the ocean was more of an after thought, cause it looked empty without it. I was trying to get some forced perspective happening, but with a size limit of 32x32 I'm not sure it really worked. I also realised just how hard it is to make even the smallest moc (and get the lighting right for taking photos) Anyway, here it is: Being my first moc I would love any feedback/criticism Cheers Edit: Brickshelf Folder
  9. Maybe it's a melbourne only thing... it was on page 10 of todays herald sun. From what I could see it didn't have a start date either
  10. I saw an ad today for 'buy 2 toys get a 3rd free' offer at Myer that ends this sunday. Works out at roughly 33% off if all three sets you get are the same price
  11. I have that exact same dilemma; I really want Medieval Market Village but it's probably wise to get it later as the two modulars will probably sell out at S@H first, just like market street already has. With two more modulars this year though, it could be a long while before I have the time or money for MMV
