  1. Trying to be a good boy: Instead of building Sandcrawler in one night, I told myself I'd do one set of numbered bags each day... Well, the #1 bags weren't very stable, so I did the #2s the first day, too. Then yesterday I did 3 and 4, but didn't like how much was sticking up and did #5... which although not actually attached, I stopped there. We'll see how long I can hold out from binge building the rest, but for $300, I'd like to get at least a few more days!
  2. Here's one that popped up on the Special Themes board recently: Great Boardwalk Carnival http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97364 (not mine, but just trying to help.)
  3. Don't sell yourself short! This is an incredibly unique model, and to make it look so nice and function so well with so few parts is very impressive. There's a million vehicle-based MOCs, so seeing something different is refreshing.
  4. Someone noticed that minifig hands hold many wires and jacks perfectly, and with some adhesive, (Release the Kra_gl_e!) you can use them to help keep wires handy. I'm only linking the Slate article because I can't figure out how to link the video directly. http://www.slate.com...ce_forever.html
  5. Be careful with terminology. A true minifig-scale Slave I would be quite large. Some would even say that would be a fantastic scale for a UCS model.
  6. I dunno... The coffee-shop-density here in Washington state is a bit higher than he suggests.
  7. Randomly was told that the UCS Slave I is coming August 1st by the young lady who rang me out at the Lego Store yesterday when I bought my Sandcrawler. I said WHUUUUUT? I hadn't asked anything that would lead her towards that direction of conversation. I don't believe it for a second, but it certainly surprised me.
  8. That's part of the point I just made: these kids trying to sell MOC instructions are getting shoddy / inequal treatment like they are on a par with MegaBloks when they are even more further removed from that idea than BA or BF. BA and BF are businesses. Plugging them on the front page is a form of free advertisement, and it seems weird when they pop up compared to the typical parade of major reviews of official sets and praising high quality MOCs. It's all well and good if EB wants to support these guys, but it walks a line that depending on personal interpretations, doesn't always make sense/seem fair. Being a site with a worldwide membership means that there are as many different viewpoints on it. I agree with OP that it feels weird to me, whether it's the majority opinion or even EB staff's position, he's not alone in thinking that they feel like adverts.
  9. Then I must just like the most expensive lines... Creator Expert, Modulars, Technic flagship, SW UCS, all run well over $100.
  10. I'm glad this year's SW includes a lot of great OT sets... That way I don't 'have' to get them again!
  11. Droid Escape has been retired for quite a while and is climbing in price. There's a reason why I said "current sets". You may have plenty of them, but speaking as someone who came out of the dark ages recently, 3PO isn't available without paying a premium right now, and Chewie is only marginally easier/cheaper to get.
  12. So happy this got bumped! Bridgelayers have always been one of my favorite military vehicles! Supported.
  13. Welp, if you can imagine it you can do it... Doesn't mean it isn't all kinds of goofy, but whatever you like!
  14. ^Really? I was thinking that Chewie is pretty uncommon in current sets. The only ones I know of are the Droid Gunship, Millennium Falcon, Ewok Village and the Death Star... He was in Hoth Echo and Jabba's Palace, but both of those are gone, so either you get the ugly Droid Gunship, or you pay well over $100 to get him. C3PO is even worse, only being in three current sets, all of which are over $250. (Endor Village, Sandcrawler and Death Star) Speaking of which, I just got my first 3PO today, as I picked up the Sandcrawler on the way home tonight.
  15. While I know they aren't going to stop showing up on the front page, I've got to agree with hobbythom: They aren't any more LEGO than MegaBloks or any of the other clone systems. The difference is that those are treated like villainous scum of the earth, but BrickArms gets front page plugs pretty much every time they have something new for sale. People get knocked down by admins all the time for plugging Ideas/CUUSOO projects or MOC instructions for sale in the wrong place, but BrickForge and Brick Arms getting front page plugs Is an inconsistent message, and smells like favoritism. That's just my $0.02, your mileage may vary, and with the previous two posts supporting the practice, it's pretty clear what the outcome will be.
  16. It's a banner year for Star Wars fans with one, if not two UCS sets, a new ISD, a new AT-AT, and a new Cantina... Techinc fans have the most expensive set ever with the 42030... The latest Modular was the first at a new, higher price point... All those fantastic Lego Movie sets, including two major D2C sets... ...and that's just some of the bigger sets! My wallet is crying, for sure!
  17. You already got an AAT this year. Sure it was a Microfighter, but it counts. :P
  18. I hate that this is so contentious for some people. It's stupid, and it's nothing more than a marketing gimmick. Seriously. IBTL.
  19. One green and 50+ orange It's getting a little out of hand.
  20. Recent example: I bought 42009, thinking that it would be a good, long build. Yeah, right. Four sessions, three days. First was 3pm -4am on a Tuesday to do the first three books with one pause to go out for dinner. The next day I went from 3pm to 8pm building the 4th and 5th books, then 1am to 4am building the boom. Later the same day, I took maybe an hour to connect the boom and finish the build. Now I'm already itching to build something else and it hasn't even been a week!
  21. I think you need 5 posts before you can link pictures.
  22. Clearly you haven't watched The Lego Movie. ;) There is no right answer to your question. The beauty of LEGO is that whatever you want to do with them is the right thing, as long as it makes you happy. MOC 'em, MOD 'em, keep them intact or keep 'em all broken up and sorted in tiny drawers. It's all good. The only wrong answer is to get all stressed out about what other people think.
  23. This is going to be my birthday present to myself... Just 12 more days!
  24. I'm sorry, but I laughed when the arm popped off trying to lift a log that weighed too much. Nice truck! So huge!
